This is a lovely country hotel. It is old (as you would expect) but clean and comfortable. The staff are exceptional and Kyle was just so helpful attending to our every need. We just loved it. Our daughter and husband and kids were staying near by so we only had dinner on Xmas night which was a carvery which we really enjoyed. Beautiful location right on the river, perfect for a rest away from city life.

Imagine having a river view, delectable meals and wonderfully pleasant staff. This is Malgas Hotel. Riverboats, peace and quiet surrounded by nature, and staff to meet your every need. A night cap next to a warm cracking fire is just what you need to end off a wonderful day before tucking in to your warm bed for a night of rest for your body and soul.

The idea of leaving behind such tranquility and return to the hustle and bustle of the city is the only negative thought. Apart from missing the lovely Malva pudding the Chef serves up and the knowledge that you have added a pound or two.

Great place to continue to the Hoop Nature Reserve or explore the area there. The rooms are really great, although the rest of the rooms are from the 90s, which does have a certain charm. Unfortunately the pool was not usable during our stay. Our recommendation is to skip dinner, which is honestly not really enjoyable. The breakfast, on the other hand, is completely ok. Generally recommended if you have your own food with you. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Although not old, they went with an old English style of hotel. Rooms are comfortable and neat. Dinner was enormous, you are warned, but absolutely delicious. Staff friendly, manager very attentive.

It is very quiet and off the beaten track, not everyone's cup of tea.

Beautiful location, convenient and spacious rooms upstairs, nice river views from the balcony, dinner and breakfast had a homemade rustic feel and were delicious. Kids loved trampoline and pool and beach by the river. Staff were friendly and helped load and unload luggage.

Very beautiful view of the Breederivier and a place to relax in the silence of nature, my kids enjoyed themselves,the play room, trampoline and play area kept them entertained. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent

The road leading to Malagas isn't for the faint hearted especially when you have 2 or more cars driving Infront of you

Generous delicious English breakfast served on the beautiful sunny terrace overlooking the river. Cereal collection not that exciting. Dinner very tasty and ample food. 5 courses is really more than one can eat. So family friendly for us with two small boys: indoor and outdoor children’s play areas. Beds were comfortable and room clean and comfy.

Our breakfast table could have been better serviced with salt, pepper, serviettes, etc - we had to go fetch these ourselves.

Very relaxing stay on the river near The Hoop nature reserve. Outdoor and indoor play area for kids. Lovely staff, promptly ready to help for any need. Generous meals which were very appreciated during this stop of our on the road trip.

A lovely countryside hotel along the banks of the Breede River. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Enjoyed being able to rent a padel boat to take out on the river.

The hotel feels a bit dated, but if you know to expect that, then it okay. The rooms are still very neat and clean.
