Gorgeous old building, renovated beautifully. The grounds and the rooms away from the main house (where we were) were absolutely lovely. Extremely friendly atmosphere we met both the owners who were lovely and the rest of the staff were so warm and helpful. The conservatory restaurant is the show stopper though. Such a beautiful room and utterly spectacular food. From our research it feels like a lot of people stop in Swellendam for a break on the way to garden route but this is a worth a night or two for sure !!

A really lovely Country House with lots of character. Excellent fine dining food and an incredible three course breakfast. The rooms had a lot of character. The team managing the house were fantastic, they have good attention to detail and professionalism whilst also demonstrating plenty of character.

We loved our stay here. It was stunning with just so much character. We had no concerns with our stay. However, I will use this space to ensure people realise that this is a country house with lots of classic luxury features. This requires a refined taste for people to enjoy. We loved it so make sure you check out the decor before you stay to ensure it is to your taste.

We were really looking forward to staying at the Schoone Oordt and on arrival we were not disappointed. Staff gave us a very warm welcome and assisted us with our luggage and showed us to our room. The room was huge and very tastefully decorated. The bathroom was a good size too with his and hers sinks, a shower and a bath. The room was very comfortable, clean and inviting. We took breakfast on both days which was very nice and also booked for dinner on one evening, which was also very good. This was a fabulous place to stay and was very quiet. The entire property is clearly very much loved and is furnished with all sorts of unusual bits and pieces. We would definitely stay again when next in the area.

The hotel, common rooms, bedrooms, outside spaces and pool area are absolutely beautiful and designed in a gorgeous colonial style. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged. Dinner and breakfasts were excellent and very creative. All staff especially the owners could not do enough for their guests. If you are staying in Swellendam, then please stay here!

Unfortunately due to load shedding, our air-con unit did not work after dinner which resulted in a room move but thankfully the hotel had a spare room available and helped move us. It was a pity but the amazing staff were very helpful.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Swellendam for 2 days during our time in South Africa and were lucky enough to stay at the Schoone Oordt Country House! The house itself its absolutely stunning! We spent 2 nights here and were greeted with a warm welcome. Alison and her family were excellent hosts, very informative and nothing was too much trouble. We particularly enjoyed our dinner, the food was absolutely fantastic! I hope we can return again at some point in the future! All the best, Tamsin & Willem

There is a reason they say this is the best place in town. It really is a bit of Victorian luxury - the place really is gorgeous. Great bar for wine and G&Ts with Ratchet the Maine Coon providing a "Big Cat" sighting on the lounge sofa. Staff were very polite and accomodating. Food was well thought out and waistlines seriously challenged by the amount and quality of dinner and breakfast. Wished we had spent more time here.

If only the rooms were in the main building. The one we had was beautiful but I can imagine it would be quite a treat to spend time in the main building.

The owners and staff were lovely. Made you feel very welcome and the food was excellent. Property restored over many years with love. We would definitely stay again. If you like Koi Carp, you will love the fish!! To look at that is, not eat 😄

Nothing not to like really, pool slightly on the chilly side, but still enjoyable to swim in considering towards the end of summer

From the moment we got there everything was so personalised and welcoming. Attention to detail. We made a last minute booking but the way they welcomed us from the moment we pulled in the drive way was as if they were waiting for our arrival. Our room was ready and waiting and well equipped with all essentials. Such a cosy room I especially loved the spacious room & bathroom as well as the cosy fire place. Breakfast was really good and well thought out. The fact that the owner Alison took time out to introduce herself and get to know her guest really just added to the experience and shows how this place is really run by love & passion❤️ To add to the experience when we got ready to leave we found that our car had been washed for us ( as we arrived via a muddy dirt road in the rain our car was so muddy you could hardly see our number plates) I thought this was really going beyond expectation. I would highly recommend this place anytime and would not think twice to return here again. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB

Beautiful secluded garden and pool. Cottages were very well equipped and comfortable. Highlight was superb conservatory restaurant filled with sunshine and windows onto the garden. Staff were professional delightful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay enormously

This property is exceptional with the most welcoming hosts and fabulous service. Beautiful, comfortable, well equipped rooms, the gardens and pool area are lovely . Food here is really good. We will definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend.
