Beautiful setting, friendly staff and spectacular bedroom. This historical gem has lost none of it's character whilst offering contemporary convenience one would expect from a top destination.

We arrived after dark and the entrance off the R60 had no light, so invisible at night. Travelling from Swellendam side Google maps indicates a left turnoff with some sort of imaginary underpass that does not exist. We would not have found the entrance if we had not been here many years ago and remembered roughly where to turn. A reflective signboard is essential from both directions.

We went for 3 nights to celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary. The staff were extremely friendly and very willing to help. The food was fantastic. Our bed was fantastic and comfortable. The room was big and the mini-bar was stocked and well priced. The room could also be made pitch dark- so our 4 year old even took some naps! We enjoyed the pool even though the weather was a bit cold. We did a wine tasting picnic on top of the mountain and it was romantic and really worth it.

Would love electric blankets on the bed. Although the bedding was great quality and nice and warm eventually. Heating the pool would be a great addition!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We celebrated our 40th anniversary and were treated with a complimentary wine tasting which we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. We were the only people in the restaurant and made the most of that. We had a really good time and felt extra special celebrating our special day alone in your beautiful restaurant! I also ordered flowers and chocolates for my own account. The person responsible for that had very good taste and the flowers were exceptional (still is) and good value for what I paid! Dinner was amongst the best we ever had and just in another class . We would definitely recommend Jan Harmsgat Country House for people who want to enjoy something special!

The traffic on the road during the night was a bit noisy. It can be attributed to the fact that the cushions were not very comfortable. We are used to harder cushions and should have brought our own! I was also a bit disappointed that there were no hiking trails but you cannot please everybody!

Good sized room and bathroom, good shower. Nice surroundings. Food was excellent and staff were lovely, especially the delightful lady who served us breakfast and evening meal. Cats are also very friendly! Property is at least 25k outside Swellendam which wasn't a problem but we hadn't realised how far out it was.

Busy road nearby which was quite noisy. Toilet was behind a sliding door in the bathroom area and although it was very clean, let the property down.

A very nice stay. Huge room, delicious food and beautiful surroundings. Great location between Robertson and Swellendam. I was there for the second time. One person on staff deserves special mention. On both visits she was wonderful to the guests and from my point of view she is the soul of the hotel: Leandra. You can only feel comfortable with her.

We had a great stay at the house, would highly recommend! The rooms were great, with a very relaxing pool and amazing restaurant. There isn't loads to do in the surrounding towns, but a lovely stop between the garden route and worth the detour.

A beautiful farm stay in the winelands, close to Swellendam, Montagu and Robertson! We received such a warm welcome from the staff and had a stunning dinner at their restaurant, Just Amy. The breakfast the next morning was out of this world! Ask to do a wine tasting as well of the single vineyard wines this farm produces and don't leave without trying the farm's pomegranate juice. The rooms are really well equipped and comfortable with everything you need!

Nothing negative to say. It is a lovely place to stay and we really enjoyed it. We were only there for one evening but will stay longer when we go past there again.

The indoor and out door eating areas were great. And being modernised during our visit. All new furniture being installed. The manager was very helpful and staff amazing

Unfortunately the property was very close to the main road, so a bit noisy. But this didn't detract from the ambience of the place.

The staff were friendly & helpful. The food was lovely but the portions were very big. Would like to visit in summer as the pool looks lovely. The orchard would also be lovely with all the trees covered in leaves.

There is quite a lot of road noise but luckily once you are inside you don’t hear the noise.

The location is so beautiful! Really restful and very green. The rooms were beautiful with luxurious linen to sleep on. Fridge was well-stocked. And the restaurant had wonderful meals! There was even a very friendly cat rubbing up to us!
