We stayed in the Mae-Mae room. Very clean and comfortable. Exceptional water pressure and temperature. Bathroom had shampoo and body wash along with hand soap. Very cozy historic home in a quiet neighborhood. Room was exactly like pictures posted on booking site. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and attractions. Loved the free breakfast and tour of the Duff Green Mansion, make sure to take advantage. Staff was easy to get a hold of and very helpful. Checkin is around the back of house off China street. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely restored cottage, rocking chairs on a little porch were perfect for a drink or coffee (could use a little table to set the drinks down), easy checkin, and quiet neighborhood. Good restaurant across the street so didn't need to drive. Located right on historic walking tour of Vicksburg, which was very interesting.

A small ice machine was dirty and required bottled water of which there was none (owners did respond immediately when I called though). There was a corkscrew, but no wine glasses, and no offer to bring some when I asked--drank my very nice wine from a coffee cup. The breakfast food was very salty (seemed to be the palate in the South, so maybe what others expect). I would still recommend the place, just not top of game for the cottage.

It was a cute cottage with unique antique furniture throughout. Easy check in process with a lock box. The breakfast and tour of the history at Duff Green was certainly a unique and worthwhile experience and the mansion is a beautiful historic property! The lady who gave us a tour was very knowledgeable and friendly.

The bathroom could’ve been cleaner. The toilet wasn’t flushed and the bin wasn’t emptied when we arrived, a bit of dusting would’ve been good too. Bed was very creaky as well but I guess that’s to be expected with antique furniture. Overall was a decent stay though.

Fantastic breakfast offered by the host at a beautiful historical mansion! We got chance to chat with other travelers stayed at the Steele Cottage over the lovely breakfast, it was a warm Southern experience! The Steel Cottage was as beautiful as the picture shows, and the rooms and bathrooms are super clean. The coffee/water conner was generously set up. We strongly recommend the Steele Cottage if you plan to visit Vicksburg, which is a must see place along the Mississippi River!

Duff Green breakfast and tour was exceptional and was included in our reservation at Steele Cottage and only a block or two away. As well as the great Walnut Inn across the street was excellent. Communication via text with Steele was very good. No problems

They were out of coffee cups both days. Only had lids. Everything else was fine. It wasn't quite what I expected for the price for 2 nights but it was good.

My husband and I took a short weekend trip to Vicksburg on the spur of a moment. I searched for a B&B on short notice and found Steele Cottage. Steele Cottage was very nice. We enjoyed our stay in MaeMae's room. Very clean and comfortable room. We very much enjoyed having breakfast at Duff Green Mansion on Sunday morning followed by a fascinating tour of the mansion and an exceptional tour guide!! Steele Cottage was very convenient to places we were interested in going. And so quiet and peaceful!! The Caldwell's have done a wonderful job of keeping the sense of family in Steele Cottage. On our next trip to Vicksburg, we will certainly check on Steele Cottage first!

Breakfast was like taking a step back in time and very enjoyable.

The wall heater in the bathroom of our room did not work. This really was not much of an issue because we visited in the summer. I am sure the owners will fix it before the temperature becomes colder if they are aware of it, because it seemed the property was well taken care of.

Beautiful old furniture. Fantastic breakfast with fine china in the mansion. Great tour of the mansion, very informative.

We had a key to our own bathroom down the hall but it worked out ok. Beautiful old tub with claws. We could have paid more and got a bathroom in our room.

Bedroom accommodations were very comfortable and pleasant. Parking out front was convenient.

Need to provide directions on shower head diverter which I found after some difficulty to be a small button on the faucet.. Not the usual setup in most home bathrooms.

Very conveniently located. the bathroom was very clean. The furnishings were very period on point. It is also one block away from the Civil War museum so very walkable. The downtown nightlife is a short drive away. we felt everyone we met in Vicksburg was very friendly and accommodating. Our check in process was very efficient and the manager lives on site and had great dinner recommendations.

Due to the age of the property our door did not lock properly but we were able to lock the other lock. Under the night stands were dusty and should be cleaned.
