Our hostess, Rachel, was very warm and welcoming. She was very helpful and informative. The view over her garden from the breakfast terrace was a great start to the day as was her breakfast. Room was lovely and bed very comfortable. Excellent restaurants, recommended by Rachel, within walking distance, esp Patio Burro. Very close to St Emilion.

The property is delightful and our suite of bedroom and bathroom were well equipped. The bathroom is luxurious, with lovely toiletries and a stunning bath. Outstanding breakfast on a truly beautiful terrace. So enjoyable! Rachel is very helpful. She recommended a restaurant and a local chateaux wine festival that was a highlight of our holiday. A good location for touring the surrounding wine area and locations such as Michel de Montaigne’s Tower.

The town doesn’t have much choice of restaurants and isn’t we’ll set up for tourists.

Rachel is a very gracious hostess! The conversation during breakfast was very intesting and her tip for local dinner, the best!

It's hard to go three flights of stairs to the room and any time one needs the bathroom, there is none on the first floor. Not the best fit for those with mobility issues.

Rachel made us feel very welcome and had good suggestions. We went for a lovely walk along the Dordogne, we went to the river beach and we enjoyed our dinners in local outdoor restaurants. Castillon-la-Bataille is a nice little town with very few tourists. Rachel's house is beautiful and the breakfasts on the balcony tasty (nice bread!) and pleasant.

An historic house in an excellent location - a quiet street, close to the station and just a short walk to the centre of Castillon. Plenty of parking space close by and within easy reach of the vineyards. Our room was spacious and well equipped. Breakfast on the balcony was a delight, with fresh croissants and bread, home-made preserves, fruits, cereals, juice, yoghurt and a delicious cafetière of coffee. Rachel is a charming and interesting host, happy to tell us the history of her beautiful house and to introduce us to her secluded garden, filled with the plants she uses in her work as a herbalist.

Beautiful tastefully decorated house in a quiet location close to bars/restaurants. Free parking outside the property. Absolutely fantastic host who had great recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. The beautifully set out breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden was delightful.
