This place was incredible, it almost didnt feel real. The host Gerry was delightful and so friendly. He had brilliant suggestions and recommendations which we thankfully listened to and took onboard, from resturants to drives/sights. The property was breath taking, we stayed in the Penthouse Apartment room. It was far beyond what we could have imagined and we had a blast, I could go on and on about everything, we will definitely be back for another stay. The rooms have a lovely view of the gorgeous garden and property, we had a balcony and a seating area which was delightful in the morning and night. Could not recommend this place enough!

Gerry stayed late to welcome us. Because of a cancellation, he upgraded us to a fabulous room. We enjoyed the gorgeous grounds, super comfortable facility, and the other guests at breakfast. Gerry knew exactly what the area attractions were and what would work well for us. He went our of his way to make sure we were informed and comfortable, and his advice was first rate! Castledale is a small hotel and breakfast was extra. While we couldn't eat that much food on a regular basis it was delicious. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

We did have a little trouble with the high tech light switches.

5*****+ for Castledale We chose to visit Ireland for our 12th wedding anniversary mid-week getaway and booked in to Castledale bed & breakfast in Sligo. The accommodation is conveniently based just outside the main city of Sligo in a quiet location, privately secluded in a walled and conifer tree gated entry with a sweeping driveway,. Upon entry, we were presented with beautifully maintained grounds, manicured lawns, shrubs, hedges & bushes of many varieties, then over the bridge to approach the palatial mansion, parking was a relaxed affair and as we passed the fountain, Gerry the proprietor & host was waiting to greet us with a warm welcome and offer to assist us with our bags, provide a tour of the property and hand over our room keys to include the front door key and security gate remote. The mansion, and that is how we would describe it, was immaculately clean and uncluttered, with stone floors and solid wood spiral staircase to our penthouse room (previously the games and entertainment room) with polished solid wood floors, a vast expanse of space to include the original bar, a dining area, tv viewing corner with comfortable sofas, a partially sunken snug by the accessible balcony, the main bedroom with super-king sized bed, dressing table and then the shower room and separate toilet, all beautifully presented and again immaculately clean and tidy. Upon asking Gerry for an ironing board with which to refresh our clothes, he was only too happy to provide one and help deliver it to our room. There was also a large downstairs TV room complete with a very comfortable L-shaped sofa adjoining the conservatory with pool table, for those with a musical background, there is a mini Grand piano in the entrance hall.

This accommodation greatly exceeded our expectations. We had booked a standard room but were upgraded to the penthouse. I was gobsmacked! The space was at least 5000 square feet, with a sunken living room and balcony overlooking the well-manicured and expansive grounds; another living room with a big screen TV; an enormous bar area; and a spacious dining area. The separate bedroom was larger than those in luxury hotels, and the bed was firm and comfortable with first rate linens. The bathroom, with separate toilet area, was sparkling clean and large, and the towels were super luxurious. The host Gerry was personable and helpful.

Fabulous estate home set in magnificent 6 acre country property only short drive from Sligo. We stayed in the Penthouse apartment which has gorgeous views of surrounding mountains. Apartment was spotlessly clean; has two sitting areas; dining area; dish ware ; small kitchen with, coffee pod machine; microwave and frig; and a wonderful balcony to sit out and enjoy the views. Gerry was a kind host who greeted us upon arrival and carried our bags up the two flights of stairs to the penthouse. He was very helpful with sightseeing suggestions. We took advantage of several beautiful forest and lake walks during our stay which featured peaceful and beautiful settings around woods; lakes and mountains. The area is all about nature and you can't beat what County Sligo has to offer.

Kitchen lacked sharp cutting knives; cutting board; towels. Dishware and cutlery were minimal.

Set in a lovely big grassed garden, with trees and a pond, the house looked fantastic and lived up to the looks. The husband and wife who ran the Castledale were lovely,, super helpful, charming and very informative. They effectively planned our first day along the Wild Atlantic Way, and did a superb job. Breakfast was marvellous, all local produce, the room comfortable and well appointed and the house itself pretty much idyllic. The town centre was a 10 minute car ride away, and also great. And the recommended restaurant again really good.

We only stayed one night.

A very special place and a most enjoyable experience. Gerry and Kaajal were brilliant hosts - nothing was too much trouble. The setting is beautiful and by far the most lovely place that we have stayed. All facilities were exceptional.

It is difficult to think of anything we didn’t like during our visit as we were blown away by the magnificent residence and warm, friendly atmosphere created by our hosts. Perhaps a spare blanket may have made our nights a little more cozy but we certainly could have asked for one and I have no doubt it would have been provided.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious! We had a little yogurt parfait with berries and granola. We ordered a ham and cheese omelet, as well. We loved our bath tub and shower! The room was very clean and well put together. My mother and I would definitely recommend others to stay at Castledale! Gerry, his wife, and puppy (Jesse James) were all so sweet and incredibly helpful. Gerry went out of his way to help us with any questions or issues we had. Thank you for everything!

My mother said she wished she had a wash cloth.

Gerry was a fantastic host and helped us with an itinerary of places to explore and see. His dinner recommendations were excellent, one of the best meals we had on our whole trip. Clean and great location in Sligo and the grounds were lovely. Breakfast was not included, but at a great price and very delicious! Highly recommend and we would definitely be back!

We had the room with the squeaky bed, so every move I made I was trying not to wake my husband up lol!

We had a lovely 2 day stay with Gerry in his beautiful home and gardens where he was very happy to provide ourselves and other guests with great recommendations for where to visit in the beautiful west of Ireland. Great breakfast and service all round. Only negative points would be the blinds in the bedrooms instead of curtains which meant it was bright early, and the hallway is quiet cavernous so all sound and movement can be heard through the bedroom doors.
