On arrival, upgraded for free to a room with a lake view, so on the quiet side of this hotel. Room was actually a big family room with a double bed and 2 bunk beds. Very comfy bed, good views, decent facilities. Staff friendly and polite and everything worked as it should. If you think 1970s/80s, you will capture the essence of this hotel; very little is new or cutting edge, but what there is is clean and functional. Generally it has a worn weary feel at times, but still retains some charm-we loved it. Breakfast was good, tasty and plentiful with lots of choice. For the price, this place is superb value.

Nothing really- just that 70s vibe, which we liked but which some people may not like.

We stay here every time we visit family who live close by. It's a lovely relaxing place to stay, especially in the summer when you can sit out by the lake. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and if you need anything, you only have to ask. The staff are really friendly and very professional and proficient in their duties. Breakfast is good value, offering 'bottomless' various cereals, toast, delicious fresh fruit salad, yoghurts as well as a traditional full English cooked breakfast!

I don't think there's anything that I can say that I don't like about the hotel. Maybe allocate a few tables outside for non-smoking guests. It would be good if the disabled bays in the car park could be reserved.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable with everything needed. The menus were comprehensive and I liked the fact that breakfast was included in the price. It was great that the hotel is dog friendly with limited restrictions as to where they can be taken.

The room wasn't as clean as I'd hoped. The furniture felt sticky to the touch. My dog found rubbish under the bed. The bathroom toilet was badly stained under the water level and under the rim. The shower didn't work, the mechanism on the tap wouldn't stay in the shower position. Generally I felt things looked tired and were in need of a refurbishment.

Lovely setting, lakeside bar, tranquil and beautiful. A drunk couple somewhat spoiled the evening, with the lady throwing a drink over the man, and him retaliating by throwing a glass at him. As a result of this incident, and the fact that it was our wedding anniversary on the 11th, we decided to leave, and go to nearby Cobham for a drink. When we got back, the bloke was still there, staggering about, unable to start his car, and asking for a jump start.The staff seemed unsure or unable to stop him, and he eventually got a taxi from the hotel but, by then, the shine had been taken off the trip for us. Overall, however, a pleasant, decently priced hotel.

The entertainment, I'm a bit of a pacifist, but did read this man his fortune, because of his loutish behaviour, a lot of people were leaving the outside bar area, because of him.

Check-in was quick and easy. Although we walked up the stairs to the room, there is a lift available. The room itself was standard but very comfortable and clean. We booked a room with the view of the lake, which was lovely to see as we walked in. The bathroom was big with a shower at the far end. Tea and coffee available in room with a small kettle. Good seating area in the bar where you could order a meal. Plenty of variety on the menu and we liked the idea of the chefs special dish of the day. Although this hotel sits on the A2, our room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. All the staff we met were friendly and professional.

I have seen comments that the rooms need updating, which in some ways is true,but not the end of the world. Look beyond the decoration and you have yourself a nice little comfortable retreat for a few days stay.

The staff were very helpful. especially as to get to the property was hindered by a road closure sign that after going up and down the A2 twice and eventually calling the hotel found I could ignore it - so having got to the hotel the staff couldn't be more helpful the view of the lake was only disappointing as it was a grey day I can imagine how great it is in the summer great views for a wedding reception

Disappointed by the size of towels but being 6' 6" it is not surprising - But the food was good and breakfast was very good as it was cooked to order and not on a hotplate going cold as some places I have stayed before

Our stay here was very comfortable. We found the staff to be very friendly. The location was excellent with scenic views. We found that staying in a dog friendly hotel was very accommodating to our needs. Our dog loved her stay and really enjoyed her complimentary sausages at breakfast. We also enjoyed the complimentary this secured all our future bookings when we a in the area.

The only thing we think could be improved would be the towels which are provided. We found them to be very small and only had one in the room when we arrived. Reception staff gave us extra the following morning but the towels are very small and didn't meet our needs.

It was very clean and tidy, the rooms are a great size, the bar, reception and outside was always clean and tidy. The food and drinks, although being a hotel, were very reasonably priced, great quality and very good portions. There was a good variety of choice for all and service was very good. Love the headboard with the hotel name on it!

Only thing we were slightly disappointed with was that was advertised, was the lake and restaurant. The lake was cordoned off as was private land so couldn’t have a nice walk around it and the restaurant was only open for breakfast and no other meals however for lunch and dinner you can still eat in the bar or outside which had plenty of seats and tables and the bar is nice and cosy, clean and very comfortable and always has a great atmosphere but not rowdy.

Lovely see dogs and a cat, and to walk around the hotel apart from breakfast room. The staff are great we had problem with noise got moved the bed was too small for tall partner 3rd time lucky. Food was great. And the views was gorgeous from the room if on ground floor have patio doors to go out especially great for dogs. Sam is lovely touch she does great massages.

TV was too small. Breakfast could be bigger and mushrooms nonetheless was tasty. Bathroom needs a revamp. Think should have a dogs grooming spa dogs.

Stayed here in August for our anniversary, not impressed. Ordered pizza got pasta, waitress refused to change it, and was quite aggressive. A drunken couple had an argument, which developed into a fight, and staff unable to get control of situation. The incident emptied the beer garden in minutes, not a great stay. This time the hotel was better by a country mile, the best we stayed in over our week tour of the West Country, a total transformation in around 4 weeks. The rude waitress has apparently been sacked. The Indian blokes who welcomed us, and saw us out were brilliant, as was the Polish barmaid. A great stay, thanks.
