On arrival, upgraded for free to a room with a lake view, so on the quiet side of this hotel. Room was actually a big family room with a double bed and 2 bunk beds. Very comfy bed, good views, decent facilities. Staff friendly and polite and everything worked as it should. If you think 1970s/80s, you will capture the essence of this hotel; very little is new or cutting edge, but what there is is clean and functional. Generally it has a worn weary feel at times, but still retains some charm-we loved it. Breakfast was good, tasty and plentiful with lots of choice. For the price, this place is superb value.

Nothing really- just that 70s vibe, which we liked but which some people may not like.

Very pleasantly surprised. People say this is outdated and it is but not in the way that I thought. It's not outdated as in unclean, worn down furniture, walls peeling. Actually the walls looked like they were just freshly painted! It was so clean. Room had a big mirror above the vanity table, lights coming down. The bed was so comfy! It felt like there was a mattress topper on top, very soft duvet. Lobby and other areas were very nicely decorated and we enjoyed the space. River was so amazing with ducks! The staff here are above and beyond, so lovely. And very professional, definitely met the high standards for customer service. The room + bathroom was so big as well! Double the size of standard Premier Inn.

Food quality could be a little bit better but it wasn't too bad. Cheesecake was lovely tbh. It's a bit pricey however.

Staff friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Great location. Loved feeding the ducks and birds from our room. Great views of the lake. Breakfast room lovely and breakfast was really good. Breakfast staff great and Friendly and professional at same time and extremely accommodating.

Mould on back of curtains which is visible. Had to leave windows slightly open. Shower wasn't powerful at all just trickled out. But other rooms we stayed in before perfect just this one. We have stayed here numerous times so couple things won't put us off again. Tv so small untrue for size of room should be upgraded.

This was our third stay. Loved room 123 (except dislike below), the stunning lake view and easy access to walking in the surrounding countryside.

1) the shower in the room. Having covered myself in shower gel, the water was either hot or too hot to rinse off. I understand, on checkout, there is a knack to the controls - suggest providing instructions inside the bathroom. 2) I had very little sleep the first night (sunday 12/5) due to noisy neighbours. Loud voices (more than 4(), music and what sounded like a computer game. I phoned reception at 12:50am and the noise level reduced slightly. However, they woke me again at 3pm and every hour thereafter - most hotels these days insist on a quiet period between 11pm and 7am. This would encourage guests to return to the hotel time and time again.

The Breakfast was good, offering great veggie options as well. Soya and Oat milk available on request, as well as included in the tea and coffee facilities in the room which was a pleasant surprise! Staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. We didn’t make use of the bar, but it looked like a pleasant area. The view of the lake was lovely, and the hotel is situated very close to Shorne Country park which is an amazing budget friendly day out for the family. The location, apart from the motorway, really was ideal.

The hotel is right off the motorway, which makes no difference unless you want your window open whilst in a front room. We did not hear it at all with the window shut.

Everything! Especially considering the amount paid. On entering, the magnificent marine fish tank ( with identification chart) set expectations high of the care taken. Christmas decorations were tastefully arranged. Staff welcoming and we were allowed early entry to our room. Room spacious and clean. Lovely view over the lake. Pleased that windows could be fully opened, to take a photo. Room was warm. Appreciated large mirror over the dressing table and a full length mirror. Two good size mirrors in the bathroom. Adequate sockets. Good lighting, bedside and ceiling, including hall area by the bathroom not illuminating whole room. Beds comfortable. Breakfast, choice available - we had full English, no mushrooms but rest made to order and well presented. Choice of cereals, toast, condiments, fruit salad and yogurt available for self service. Also excellent coffee and orange juice, cold water. Apple juice also an option. Good bar menu for the evening meal. (We didn’t eat lunch. ) Sensibly priced. Good location by the lake and country park. Map available. Thoughtful. Large carpark, safe.

Nothing important, but a small fridge would perhaps have been useful. No restaurant- fine! The bar area was very quiet although tv on. Lacked atmosphere, a small eating area with place mats etc might have helped. Only a suggestion, certainly not a complaint. The meal was enjoyed.

The rooms were big and spacious, bed was very comfortable with a nice window view. There were tea / coffee options in the room and shampoo / body wash in the bathroom. Food was lovely with plenty of breakfast options each morning and very accommodating to my husband who needed to change items on his cooked breakfast.

There was condensation running down the windows and mould above the window. The bathroom door wasn't cleaned on the outside as there was something on there across the bottom half of the door. Also we didn't put the sign on our door for change of towels or cleaning our cups etc but it was still done while we were out. I had quite a bit of money in one of my bags so understandably concerned when we got back to find someone had been in our room. Also £1 was charged to my bank card on top of what we paid for the room, granted its £1 but I have no idea why it was added and taken from my card.

The staff especially the receptionists were amazing - Saturday evening and Sunday morning receptionist I forget her name - you could tell they enjoyed their work - very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The young lad - bar staff - was talkative, attentive and good. The new Spa run independently is so affordable and the lady there is absolutely brilliant highly recommend the spa and the hotel with its lake and gardens.

The Sunday breakfast staff were not attentive and happy - we asked for an additional egg and the girl said we could only have 6 items on our plate - I thought was weird - however I asked for an egg to be a runny yolk because that's how I prefer my eggs to be for the one I was given was hard - they brought another hard egg and then another runny egg - I gave the hard egg to my wife who wanted another egg any way - I am sure not many people ask for more items - and this is not a complaint because my wife ended up with two - three hard eggs and I ended up with what I wanted but I think common sense would been good here - the price of an egg now and again isn't going to ruin the profit margin.

The scenery....absolutely beautiful setting, it's worth paying extra for the lake view, so lovely to sit out by the lake with a drink and relax. The communal areas were well decorated and well kept and easy to access. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. We visited Chatham Historic Dockyard and the hotel was only 15 minutes away and it was a very easy route. We ate at the hotel both evenings and the food was amazing. Can I also point out on the 2nd evening that the bar was very busy due to two other events going on and the staff coped with this very well and the food still came out in a reasonable time and to our expectations.

The TV was too small for the bedroom, the bedroom was a really great size but the TV was a little hard to watch. Maybe some different options on the cooked breakfasts too e.g. egg on toast, beans on toast etc Its also a little tricky when following the Sat Nav to know where you are as the Sat Nav says you are here when you aren't so you then have to hope you're following the signs correctly.

Grounds, lake, view from room great. Hotel needs updating, room definitely needs updating room 111, bathroom very dark, old decor. Room great size but again needs refreshing. Food at lunch and evening was great, very tasty Breakfast, very poor choices, had cooked breakfast but wanted a croissant first but not allowed? Bizarre

There wasn’t anything we disliked, but as a wheelchair user a couple of niggles. Door to the lakes was a fire door with a step, just a small ramp would’ve been great. Couldn’t take wheelchair onto patio through patio door as no ramp. Can easily obtain small portable ramps these days, I have them at home, cheap as chips!
