I really enjoyed my stay at the Taj Bengal. Everything was just perfect. The room was very carefully and tastefully decorated, featuring a comfortable bed and a practical, elegant office table. The bathroom was equipped with a bathtub, and toiletries were available for free use. Breakfast was included and served in a medium-sized wing of the hotel next to the pool. The breakfast selection was rich and tasty. The staff, too, did a marvelous job, and I cannot remember all the names of the staff who did something extra for me. The most impressive moment I experienced at this hotel was on the second day, when I found a handwritten welcome letter on the bed. For me, it is clear that I will definitely come back to this hotel, preferring it to other establishments.

Sometimes it wasn't easy to get a taxi, but this is not related to the hotel.

Thoughtful and kind service from the concierges, front desk and every staff member. Special mention to Bimal for helping with the phone situation I had, where I had not been able to hail taxis ... Sanjib and Debojyoti for their recommendations, Tanmoy and Tinisha at front desk for the room switch needed, Naser for keeping the rooms in tiptop condition. Was visiting from a Middle Eastern country where there is no shortage of 5-star hotels, but the Taj and its staff clearly put a lot of planning and organisation into the service and it was a pleasure to stay with them.

A temporary inconvenience - due to some works going on (either on the roof or some upper floor, requiring some windows to be temporarily removed and replaced with screens), the air in the impressive atrium space stretching up from the lobby - could not completely be maintained at air-conditioning temperature. This meant that while the ground level was cool, the corridors on upper levels were humid. If this could be remedied, it would improve guests' experience as they would not be confronted by 80-90% humidity as soon as they stepped out of their rooms. (By the way, the rooms themselves were air conditioned properly).

The staff at the in-house restaurant Shonargao were awesome. They made us feel home by extending their restaurant hours, Mr. Soban was welcoming and impressed us with his hospitality. The sous chef- Mr. Swapan Giri specially stayed back and cooked some immaculate dishes such as “ilish patudi “, “bhapa Ilish” and kosha mangsho. Which personally for me set a high bar. This experience was jaded as an unforgettable part of our trip.

The place is absolutely amazing. Everything from the location, room, hygiene, and food is exceptional. Duty manager Mr. Swagat was particularly helpful during check-in, check-out, and stay. If you are staying here, please make it a point to visit the Taj Club Lounge on the top floor. It boasts a great view of the city, and you can enjoy your breakfast without the rush of the downstairs restaurants. In the lounge, Mr. Vitthal was exceptionally courteous and helpful.

A place hosted parties and wedding functions that virtually made the pool inaccessible. Also, when checking in, a large group was checking out. Given the rush, our check-in was slightly delayed and messy (e.g., they missed out on giving us the welcome drink). Maybe the hotel needs more staff to handle such rush hours more efficiently.

I have been visiting Taj Bengal for over two decades. What makes me return here is the warmth, attentiveness and positive attitudes of its staff. The service culture of the staff has not changed. Kolkata has many good hotels but none has as proud and dedicated staff as Taj. The location of the hotel has also been an attractive feature. The restaurants also provide an opportunity to taste variety of foods. I will return again in my next trip here.

The hotel takes care of its guests as if they were its children. Experienced so much hospitality. Perfect pickup at the airport - they greeted me at the luggage belt, so I didn't have to go and look for a driver, which is very much appreciated. Special thanks to Sanjib who promised to do a small research work for me (I was looking for the address of a particular historic site that you won't find on the web). Thanks to Shahat and Shaheen at the front desk, and also to the nice man at the table next to reception - whenever I needed anything, he was always quick to offer his help. The staff were exceptional, would especially mention Vishnu (Chinese restaurant), Naim (coffee shop), Nigam and Wahid (front desk), Ashok and Anand (housekeeping), Bimal (travel/concierge). They along with the rest made it very easy for my parents who needed wheelchair mobility by giving us the use of the hotel wheelchair. It was because of their willing help that our trip was memorable! Big thank you!

We traveled with my husband and two children ages 6 and 8. The property is in a fantastic location over looking the nearby zoo which looks like a forest from above and gives you a peaceful lush green view from the rooms windows . My son loved seeing all the birds and even flying foxes hopping from tree to tree. He got some incredible photos and we didn’t even have to leave the room! The rooms were spacious and welcoming and everything felt very clean and organized. The food was very delicious, the breakfast buffet welcoming and delightful, with the hotel offering many western options for those of us who can’t eat lots of oils and spice. The pool was clean and refreshing especially during the hot summer days and the kids loved it. The staff all greeted us by name were beyond helpful and grateful including the excellent concierge Sanjib, debjyoti, Kaifee, and Subhas! And we absolutely loved our driver, Trao, who was beyond incredible in helping us navigate Kolkata, visit temples , and even helped us arrange to feed 200 people in front of Kali Ghat at the last minute . Also the hotel has an excellent in-house SUV service which made us feel very safe going out into the city and made for smooth and easy airport pickups and drop offs . We will definitely return to the Taj Bengal when we come back to Kolkata!

My father and I had a lovely stay at Taj Bengal. While the room was less large than I expected, it was more than adequate. Housekeeping was prompt and courteous. We were welcomed warmly and guided to our rooms. We had gone on April 14, which was the Bengali New Year, so lunch was a scrumptious buffet, with a lot of different lovely dishes and desserts. Breakfast was lovely and so was dinner, where we opted for the always wonderful mushroom cappucino soup. The hotel was busier than we had expected, which would have detracted from our experience since we wanted a quiet stay, but I must note that despite the crowdedness and rush, the staff were always efficient and courteous, also anticipating our requests. Taj Bengal is always a wonderful experience and I cannot recommend it highly enough to other travellers.

We had chosen a time when the hotel was unusually crowded - the day of the Bengali New Year. This was the only downside to our visit, but the service provided was not hampered or lessened by the crowdedness.

Every single staff member was outstanding. The concierge Sanjib went above and beyond to make the experience to make the experience to me and my family one to remember.

My only complaint was about the gym facilities. Due to construction all workout equipment was split between two hotel rooms. I appreciate the hotel making an effort but was disappointed with this.
