The rooms and bathrooms are VERY clean, which was great. The area is generally safe (although quite dirty for someone not used to LA's low standards) and easily accessible by public transit (although LA transit is horrible).

The kitchen isn't super clean. Also it seems that some guests are living at the hostel. That is not a problem in itself but some of those guests give off somewhat sketchy vibes. I didn't feel unsafe as such but it did make me uncomfortable at times. Also, people smoke weed at the entrance - not really my favorite smell.

8th and Ardmore Hostel is a cozy place where you can meet not only travelers from around the world, but also locals who make the experience even more interesting. The location is great — close to Koreatown and public transportation, making it easy to explore Los Angeles. The vibe here is relaxed and social, perfect if you want to make new friends or just share stories with others during your trip. Facilities are clean, the staff is helpful, and the atmosphere feels more like a shared home than a hotel. Definitely a good option for budget travelers looking for a real L.A. local experience!

One small suggestion: the owner could consider moving Bedroom #1 (currently a female room on the first floor) upstairs, and instead assign the first-floor room for male travelers. This room is located right next to the dining area, where meetings and conversations often happen. While the meetings are usually helpful and never bothered me personally, I noticed that some guests were less tolerant of the noise and even reacted rudely to others. Moving the female room upstairs and using the first-floor bedroom for males could create a more comfortable experience for everyone.

Good location, close to many bus connections and a 10-min walk from the metro station (3 metro stops to downtown LA). Rooms and common spaces were clean and well-maintained - the kitchen was fully equipped. The fridge and closet with hangers in the room were a great commodity! It was nice to hang up some clothes and have some space to store the luggage so that it wouldn't clutter the room. Shower gel was provided, which was great, but bring your own towel (it doesn't come with the booking, I think you can get one for a fee but I didn't ask). Bring a padlock too for the locker.

The water in the showers could have been warmer - it wasn't cold, but it wasn't exactly hot, either. Have a towel ready nearby to wrap up after the shower :)

Visiting my son's family. This was 4blocks away. Was with them all day .no room at their apt to stay there..so it was a comfort for all to have a close by facility.and reasonably price just to sleep, shower, and have kitchen facilities to make bed time tea,snack. we got a room with two twin beds ( didnt have to " bunk up " with others . although we were willing to if we got & asked for bottom bunks) small fridge, bathroom across the hall. Great for two seniors.

These are suggestions to make the room more functional especially for longer stay. : a small table between beds, a mirror with a shelf ,hooks or bar to hang jackets , towels, etc.

the location is great- walking distance to Wilshire Blvd and all the great Korean restaurants there! the facilities are large and kept clean. Many bathrooms available.

My only complaint is the beds- the blanket is very thin. Also since you may stay in a room with 5 other guests, not everyone wants the ceiling light turned on at night. They should invest in small reading lights for each bed, so as not to bother other sleeping guests.

The location is good and it is convenient to go anywhere in the center. You can live like your own residence. The kitchen, laundry and living are all in place. The room is also comfortable once you get used to it.

It would be great if there were curtains on the bed. Basically, there is no problem

The location was great, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Common areas, bathrooms, and toilets were clean and sufficient. Overall, I liked it, and having a private parking lot was a major advantage

Overall, I was satisfied. The only issue was the person in the lower bunk of my room, who was constantly moving around like hyperactive every five seconds… I stayed quiet to avoid any problems, but that was the only negative part of my stay, and it wasn’t the hostel’s fault anyway

Everything was very clean: bathrooms, toilets, rooms, kitchen. The garbage was taken out every day, and the showers were also cleaned daily. There is mini fridge in the room, so it was very convenient to leave your stuff in there. In every room you have a locket for your important items, but you need to have your own lock. The kitchen was well equipped, but I would add more cups there. People in the hostel were very polite and friendly. You could talk with everyone. If there was a problem, the manager was here in 10 minutes to solve it. There is a gazebo outside. Nice neighborhood. Definitely will recommend that hostel.

The location is safe. The grocery store was next door with public transportation in front of it. Staff was friendly.

The paid washer machine/dryer connections required quarters for payments. Quarters are hard to get. There was a notice of instructions above the washer machines about how to obtain quarters from vending machine, however, one day last week I tried to do my laundry, tried this method, but only received nickels and dimes. So I had to do my laundry at the coin laundromat around the corner for good. Also, WiFi would go out in the evening up until the next day. Other than the two negatives, the property is really amazing

It’s really nice, people were kind and i didnt worry about leaving My suitcase in the bedroom when we went sightseeing. The bed was comfortable and I felt safe staying in this hostel.

It’s kinda far away from everything, you need to rent towels, and there was a little mess under my bed, it wasn’t cleaned properly. Also it’s a good place to stay but at night there are some weird people in the neighborhood. But everything else was fine.
