Beautifully renovated historic building. Tastefully decorated rooms. Smart televisions. The view of the harbor is unequaled. One can pass the time watching ferries come and go. Body wash and shampoo are Papoutsanis brand Greek products. Having a water bottle in the fridge is a nice courtesy.

Central air conditioning means you cannot use air conditioning until the establishment “flips” the system over to the summer setting. I much prefer having a heat pump unit in each room so that I have total control over my comfort. The little soaps in each room are made in China — support GREEK suppliers!

The hotel's in a perfect location for anyone arriving or departing by ferry. It's a very cheerful hotel, with caring, friendly staff - we felt we were staying with friends. Breakfast is good, with some variety from day to day, and the bar/cafe downstairs is very handy. We loved our room, with views of the waterfront and streetlife below. This is a lovely hotel, which we warmly recommend.

No negative features from our point of view.

The hotel was spotlessly clean. The bed incredibly comfortable - best nights sleep we’ve had away from home for a very long time. There was an excellent buffet for breakfast - cold meats, cheeses to Greek yogurt, Syros sausage & home made cakes! It was delicious. The food & drink prices were very reasonable. But most important of all, every single member of the team was absolutely lovely!

It is very close to the ferry terminal & 160 year old shipyard. As a result it is very noisy if you have the windows open. There’s also a lot of noise from the local traffic… scooters mainly. The other thing was on the last full day of our 7 night stay the water smelled bad. Not sure why but it wasn’t a good smell. Otherwise we’d have scored the hotel & its team 10 out of 10.

I had been going to Syros since I had been a kid, but had never stayed at Diogenis. I visited it in 2025 for a business trip and was exactly what someone wanting to visit Hermoupolis would want: Excellent location, perfect service, an always open bar and very nice rooms. The television had BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera, among others, which was awesome!

Friendly, warm and very helpful staff - I needed to amend my booking before I arrived and the hotel made the change without a fuss which I really appreciated. Excellent communication and customer service. - Super clean and comfortable - My room didn't have tea or coffee facilities but they gave me a kettle when I asked which was all I needed so it was perfect. I actually prefer this option as it reduces waste. I also used the kettle to boil water to drink and take with me in my water bottle which minimised my use of water in plastic bottles. There is a fridge in the room so this can be done easily. - Soap dispensers by the wash basin and in the shower mean you can avoid using those little bottles of soap to reduce waste - Delicious breakfast with really good coffee - Excellent location close to the harbour and for walking everywhere Loved this hotel and Syros so I'm really looking forward to returning as soon as I can. Please consider removing the plastic cups in the bathroom. They shouldn't be necessary and would reduce waste. Thank you.

Everything was just great! The property was conveniently located as everything was within walking distance and everyone from the staff was very polite and professional. The room was pretty spacious, spotless and with a nice view to the sea. Breakfast was served every morning and it was super fresh and delicious! Overall it's been a very pleasant experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Syros.

Hotel Diogenis is a good choice for staying in the center of Europolis, and close to the ferryterminal. I stayed there for 2 weeks during my vacation. I got an upgraded room with a sea view. The breakfast is good, the staff is nice and service-minded. My best recommendation.

Location was right down by the Ferries and a short walk into the restaurant area. Execellent breakfasts, and friendly staff. Local buse station only five minutes away (Take the round island bus trip for about 3 Euros for an excellent deal!)

Our room on the side was not noisy, but those on the front of the hotel may be. The industrial dock area is adjacent, but interesting rather than ugly.

My ferry to Santorini was canceled due to weather...about 915am, I walked into Diogenis...the woman at the front desk was extremely helpful...being off season, she showed me 3 rooms I could choose from...the best option had a view of the Harbour. She said that I was welcome to have breakfast...I got my room by 930, unwound till 1000, ate breakfast and relaxed the rest of the day. Very enjoyable. The room was great, fantastic shower! Breakfast was good, coffee great. Very clean hotel.

Everything was fantastic!

Very conveniently located near the ferry pier and very close to the town centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Sadly at the time of booking there was only one room option a alia le and the room we had was very small and the bathroom very cram. We were offered a larger room for 3 but preferred to stay in the small room as it had a little bit of a side sea view. The team was really fantastic and they apologised that they couldn’t off us any other room as they had a larger group of people staying there and we booked very late, so absolutely ok, no complaints!
