Excellent location in the centre of Bernay and a small free car park. The hotel appeared smarter than we were expecting for the price. Good breakfast, lift and friendly staff.

Quite hot at night, but was then quite noisy when we opened the window. Unfortunately, we were in Bernay on a Monday when most shops and restaurants were closed so we didn’t get to see the town at its best.

The hotel offered parking just outside of the entrance. There were only a few spaces but as there were not many guests this was not an issue (check if you are traveling in peak season though). The staff was friendly although they didn't speak much English. The room was spacious and had amenities (boiler, tea, coffee) so we could have a drink in our room. The breakfast had a good selection (not very wide, but more than we expected) and the quality was good. The location was also good (city center) meaning it was a short walk to various restaurants and bars.

The only minor thing was that it was a bit confusing how the bar worked. This was staffed by the receptionist, but was basically empty when we were there. This was also where you were supposed to get hot drinks during breakfast, but because this wasn't explained (nor were we asked when we sat down for breakfast) we ended up without any hot drinks. It's a minor inconvenience, but good to be aware of.

This hotel was perfect for our family as we travelled home through France, from the reserved parking place and the warm welcome at reception, to the superbly comfy beds and excellent breakfast. The location is lovely - right in the centre of Bernay, near a bakery, restaurants, plenty of interesting shops and the river.

Just a tiny suggestion - the bathroom could have done with some towel rails and a hook on the back of the door.

The Hotel Le Lion D’Or has an old world charm and customer service wholly lacking from modern hotels. It’s in a lovely small village, centrally located in Normandy, with excellent restaurants and necessary shopping within a few short blocks. Train stations is also in walking distance. Locals were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable. I would welcome a longer stay.

Carpets could use updating.

Perfectly nice hotel in the old center of Bernay. Simple but clean room and very friendly ladies at the reception. Better breakfast facilities than we had in some 3 star hotels on our trip. Also very pleased about the private parking. Eating out tip: Chant d'ivresse, a much, much better and far more original option than all the average brasseries you tend to find just about everywhere in France.

Just one detail about the shower, a simple but very effective way to avoid water splashing, would be to move the wall and facilitate entry to the shower on the right instead of the left side (room 29).

Great character building in the centre of town. The town itself is delightful. Free parking on site. Lovely rooms with drinks facilities. Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Breakfast there was plenty of choice

there was a kettle in the room and two tea bags on some days and not others days the same with the little milk pods. There weren't any cups so when there was tea it had to be made in the glasses which ,as you can imagine , were hot to handle. The bottle of water was not refreshed

Comfortable room with wardrobe. As a "genius" member of booking.com, breakfast was included in the price. It was very good and although I don't eat gluten there were plenty of other options including yoghurts, fresh fruit, fruit pots, eggs and gluten free madeleines. The parking was private and free. Being in the centre of Bernay made it easy to walk to the restaurants. The staff were very obliging and friendly.

I think overall the place could do with a refurbishment. Fittings were looking a bit "tired" as were the carpets. It didn't spoil our stay though.

Fantastic old hotel beautifully decorated. They are currently updating. The reception was welcoming and gave us all the information we needed. Great breakfast. Excellent private parking. Great location lovely picturesque town.
