The best places to stay in nuwaraeliya. The place was so beautiful with lovely views loved the interior and room was very spacious, The staffs and their services was tamazing. This is a must visit hotel in Sri Lanka. We would visit again. We had the best Breakfast and Dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were big. Overall, La grande Villa is a charming and elegant hotel that offers a luxurious and comfortable stay. I booked this hotel for my friend’s honeymoon, and they had an absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel staff went above and beyond to make their stay special by decorating the room beautifully. My friend mentioned that the room was clean, neat, and very comfortable. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and truly made them feel welcome. They thoroughly enjoyed their honeymoon, thanks to the great hospitality and lovely ambiance of the hotel. After hearing such fantastic feedback, my wife and I are now planning to visit soon! We can’t wait to experience the same level of warmth and excellence. Highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway or any special occasion!

Lovely property with well-manicured garden. Only 5 rooms in total and so the service is quite intimate. Our room had wood panelling all around with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a jacuzzi which we used once. The shower was also excellent. We had both breakfast and dinner at the villa and dinner portions were copious. I do not like throwing away food and overate as a result. The first morning we had to leave at 5.30 a.m. for a hike on Horton Plains and the man in charge of the restaurant (and everything else) had kindly prepared two lunch boxes for us and was there to send us on our way. Very dedicated. Thank you so much. In fact, all of the staff was very nice and friendly. The villa was also very well located and very quiet. It took us only 10 minutes of walking to get to the city centre.

Like most hotels in Sri Lanka, water is provided to customers in small plastic bottles (500 mls). We went through 7 of them and felt quite guilty about this. We would have been happier having filtered water in glass or metal bottles that can be reused. This is something the villa should consider. I also would have liked a ceiling fan for the purpose of air circulation (and not to cool us off). Even though Nuwara Eliya is at 1890m (6200 feet) above sea level, hot spells are not really a problem. However, with global warming/climate change, this may become a necessity in the too-distant future.

When we arrived at the villa, our luggage was placed in our room which was already ready. They offered us coffee/tea/hot chocolate as welcome drink, which was perfect in the cold, rainy weather. They offered us cozy slippers that we could wear in the room. A cot was provided for the baby. The room was grand, with a big verandah overlooking the garden and two swings where we could sit and spend some time. Packaged breakfast on both days was nice, and they accommodated our request to swap chocolate shake with fresh juice, which was very nice.

No streetlights on the road, so walking from Victoria Park to La grande villa after 7 pm was scary. Miscommunication about housekeeping, we needed the room cleaned but to keep the used towels for another day. But the staff took it as we didn't want the room to be cleaned.

My only drawback was the room only has a heater no ac or fan. I believe just adding the option of a pedestal fan would go a long way.

The staff is simply 10 stars!! They were simply amazing!!! So kind and so present and so smiley with us. They were truly the soul of La Grande Villa. They were so kind and friendly with our daughter and with us!! Thanks to the staff we felt that the hotel was a little gem. Only a 5 min tuk tuk drive from the city center.

When we first arrive at the hotel at night, we were a little disappointed. Small hotel, a bit cold, no facilities other than a snooker table. The bedroom was big but no side lamps on the bed, only one main light for the room. The bathroom amenities were of poor qualities and the shower was not giving constant temperatures… No wine or beer at the restaurant. But at the end, we were truly satisfied with our stay thanks to the amazing staff!!

Our favourite thing about this property were the staff! They were all so attentive to our needs (e.g., frequently offering us cups of tea which we loved), and we felt that they genuinely cared about us having an enjoyable stay. The decor in the hotel was beautiful. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well maintained. We loved playing billiards at the billiards table! The food was fantastic, and we could tell that the chef really took pride in his cooking! We stayed 3 nights, and it was one of the most comfortable places we’ve stayed in.

Really amazing friendly staff, comfortable bed, the best food we had in Sri Lanka (thanks to the chef!!). Really nice touches like offering us tea/hot chocolate when we arrived, keeping the inside clean by offering slippers, a pool table for extra entertainment. They also arranged a visit to a tea factory which was great. Nice location - we walked to a few nearby spots.

Wouldn’t say it’s 5 stars - dirty tablecloths, poor quality toiletries (not even filled to the top / looked reused by other guests), no ambience during meals just silence, room temperature drinks with dinner without even an offer of ice. The rooms are also definitely not soundproof - in fact we could hear basic conversations from the adjoining rooms which meant we had to sleep with earplugs. The shower also went cold a lot which is not what you want especially as the bathroom is quite cold. It’s a shame as the staff are so lovely the place just needs a bit more attention to detail to justify the price and star rating.

The staff was very attentive and welcoming. We had slippers to go around the hotel, and a nice tea and biscuits as a welcome drink. The room was spacious and we loved both the big shower and the hot tub. Great breakfast, super abundant. We also had lunch there and it was quite good.

Our patio roof was leaking when it was raining so we couldn’t sit on there to relax. The duvet sac didn’t have a zipper closure on either side so it felt somehow unhygienic! Overall we would expect a bit more from a 5 star hotel.
