First, I have to say—this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Prince is, quite literally, a Prince—and he’s as charming, educated, and amusing as one could hope for. The château’s interior is beautifully renovated, yet it still feels like a warm, lived-in family home. It’s not a museum (although it easily could be); instead, it exudes comfort and history in equal measure. Staying there feels like visiting relatives in their ancestral home—you’re genuinely made to feel welcome. We absolutely loved it! Just a note: it’s not a five-star hotel. In fact, we stayed at one the night before, and both my husband and I actually preferred the accommodations and the heartfelt welcome we received at Montalembert. We optioned out of the breakfast as we are not big morning eaters, and walked to a nearby bakery for croissants, when we returned there was coffee served in the kitchen, and it was delicious!
The road to the village was quite long and winding, which made the journey feel a bit remote—but in the end, it was well worth the drive. We did find ourselves wishing the village had a nice restaurant of its own, but fortunately, there was a lovely dining option in a nearby village that made up for it.

Definitely not your usual accomodation. It is a full blown experience. A 5-storey castle where every single corner of the house, every centimetre of space, of wall, of floors, is filled with history and magic. You can cook in the perfectly well equipped kitchen, but you can also spend time admiring the original copper pots and pans (each of them a work of art in itself) or the 3-meter high massive wooden cupboard. Or you can choose to spend time in the "living room" (it is about 100 sq meters!) to play snooker or simply browse through the old photo albums to discover more about the castle's recent history. If the weather is nice, you can spend time strolling in the huge and beautiful French garden. Prince Nicolas, the landlord, is just as quirky as his castle. Don't expect a traditional innkeeper, just a gentleman, unapologetically himself, welcoming you to his home.
I have to say the bed was not the most comfortable ever, but it did the job. Also, the empty castle at night can be a little spooky, especially if you didn't grow up in one :)

We had an amazing time in this amazing place. An absolute must, I recommend wholeheartedly. Prince Nicolas and Irena made our stay unforgettable, cosy, comfortable, and very personal, also giving us suggestions and help with the restaurants and tourist attractions nearby. So pack your luggage, and with no further hesitation offer yourself a taste of an aristocratic life in this exceptional family house.

The chateau was beautiful and full of character. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable about the property. the rooms were spacious and clean with charming old decor. We slept really well and the breakfast on the sunny balcony was a perfect way to start the day.

Staying in the original chateau with its stylish decorations was a great experience. Prince Nicolas and his wife welcomed us and guided us through the chateau. The breakfast was generous, and there was a good view of the garden. I definitely recommend it and will go back for sure.

The atmosphere in the house is relaxed and calm. Prince Nicolas Guedroitz is most welcoming, helpful, likes conversation and obviously loves to share his family house and it’s history. The kitchen is a place to meet, chat and have a tea. The chateau is an extraordinary charming and unique place to stay and either dive into an authentic historical interior and a bit of an aristocratic family history or just to relax and enjoy the huge rooms and the garden and forget about all the rush and problems of the world outside.
Different to the Prince, the Princess did not wish to be disturbed while she was having a meal in the common kitchen, what she communicated in a distinctive and a bit insensitive way.

The property is a stunning , Architectural Gem. The English speaking owner , Nicolas , loves his Home , and is an enthusiastic , aristocratic host who is actively improving and renovating the property. the Grounds are vast and yet it sits in the centre of Maiche Town.
the bed room isn’t a space to relax in. It lacks soft furnishings, and would benefit from a kettle and a radio. guests are welcome to use the families kitchen to prepare and eat food however. The booking dot com site stated it’s bed and breakfast, however, this is a payment in addition.

This accomodation is more as beautiful. It's a room in an old castle, full with original paintings, a fireplace, a desk from the last century (or before), comfortable bed. It's original with a beautiful flair of former centuries. Bathroom is modern. The shower is installed in a room as big as the shower, the washing basin and toilette in an other small room direct connected to the room. The doors are in general unlocked and a huge salon before the room invites for relaxing and reading. An outperformed WLAN....no breakfast, but a coffee in the private kitchen on a long table and at my morning Mozarts piano concerto No 25 in the background. It's a special accomodation.

A very special experience, staying in a chateau with the owner and all the original furnishing. The prince as our host gave us a special tour of the house, told us a lot about the history of the chateau and gave us a lot of tips for places to visit and where to eat.
