Large spacious room, very well presented. The pool was very nice as too the dining room. Excellent value for money. The hotel is in a quiet part of town a Grab ride to the main part of Dong Hoi (too far to walk in the heat) and the beaches which we didn’t get a chance to go to. There is an excellent restaurant about 300 metres away (Cơm Bao Cấp Quảng Bình), we also Grabbed to Khói Brewpub which was very good. As Dong Hoi is a rural town (good base for the caves which are a must), it is very different to the tourist towns but a nice place to relax. Much quieter on the streets and a real contrast as very few international tourists at Rex & surrounding area.

With my hand on my heart, I can say that this is the best price-to-quality hotel that has ever hosted me. From beautiful, clean and functional rooms to wonderful and varied buffet breakfast (fantastic bun bo soup!), this property is just outstanding, as are its staff. Whilst I did visit during off-season and not all facilities were working (e.g. spa), there is nothing that I can really fault about my stay. Some of the previous reviewers have criticised the location and the lack of restaurants in the area, but to them I'd say: try harder. The hotel is centrally located, there is an amazing banh cuon place just 300 meters away and a lot more local food a few hundred metres further. It is Vietnam, they have one of the best cuisines in the world, so take advantage of it! All in all, for the price, you won't find the same quality anywhere else in the world - even if you double or triple the price. Putting it all into the right context, I was amazed by Rex Quang Binh in the best possible way and cannot wait to return.

This hotel.is exceptional, the best I've stayed in in Vietnam. Spacious rooms with quality fixtures and fittings. The breakfast was unbelievable in the range of offerings including traditional dishes and desserts, all clearly labelled. It is way better than your 5 Star hotel chains. I would come back to Vietnam to stay at this hotel and have their breakfast spread. And their cocktails and beer were the cheapest I have drunk in over a week in Vietnam. Staff are also fantastic. Tien at the front desk sorted out a problem I had with a pre- booked tour. Her knowledge of local tour operators was a great help. She took care of this and all of my other requests with care and professionalism. Make sure you have Dong Hoi as a destination for your next holiday.

I wasn’t there for breakfast and there was nowhere during the day to get one

Staff were not very good at English. We went to the restaurant for diner and that was the most disappointing experience of our visit. You could only buy a full bottle of wine, either red or white. My dinner, duck, was really bad and smelt terrible. My husbands steak was tough and the the chips that it came with, there was only about 7 chips on the plate. Also, a dead piece of lettuce, dry cucumber and questionable tomato.. The room was very good but would not recommend the restaurant.

I had randomly booked this hotel to be close to the train station, but it was a good find. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. They even have good views. The breakfast buffet had lots of options, even some vegetarian options. Their breakfast starts from 6:30, can easily eat before any tour. It was very convenient to come from the early morning train, leave for phong nha tour and to take the early morning train as well. I know someone who left their luggage and paid for breakfast and came on the tour with us (if you don’t want to book the previous night)

The hotel has been in operation for a few years but surprisingly it looks brand new. The room we booked was a Deluxe Room, the price was very reasonable, including breakfast. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, with attention to detail. The bathroom was large and fully equipped, modern. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast was plentiful. We had dinner and coffee in Rex Restaurant, everything was great. We just happened to pass by and stayed for 1 night on our business trip but we really liked this hotel. Next time if we have a chance to return to Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), we will definitely stay at Rex.

It’s a Rex so you know you will get a quality clean hotel. The location is on a quiet street - with a great restaurant down the road! The facilities are good and breakfast extensive. Above all the staff are amazing -in particular Tien went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and to help booking a tour. For the price it’s exceptional value.

Room is bigger from my expectation equipped with balcony. Classic interior since lobby entrance. Hotel staff are so welcome and able to speak in English.

Corridor lamps at 3rd floor in front of lift elevator were light off as felt so creampy. Lobby area was felt so hot in the morning while AC might be turned off even fans were provided as not comfortable to stay at lobby more longer. Lift elevators were too slow as we have to wait longer only went to take breakfast or down to lobby.

The hotel was beautifully designed, modern and very clean. It was great value for money and they even upgraded us to a junior suite. I would stay again

The spa was closed and this is not mentioned when booking. Other parts of the hotel seem to be closed (restaurants, cocktail bar). Only one of the many restaurants listed on the elevator is open and it is quiet and no atmosphere so I would not dine there again. It is a pity but probably why it is so reasonably priced. Regardless I’d stay again

Best breakfast I've had in Vietnam - loved the Rice Ball Doughnuts. Excellent room, wi-fi decent enough though did slow down in the evenings. Nice to be away from the main drag, for a change, with none of the fancy restaurants. Beach is accessible enough by scooter or taxi. Staff were great. Nice church nearby, walk along the river. Was good for a few days. Sad to leave.

Laundry service prices were prohibitive - (I walked to a laundry about a 15/20 minute walk away although they just threw everything in a bag without even folding it). Internet slowed down awfully in the evenings but managed to stream a movie earlier.
