My recent stay in Kolkata at the Raajkutir a british-indian establishment was nothing short of magical. I arrived expecting a comfortable, well-located hotel, and what I received was an experience that truly captured the spirit of the city reflecting the old days. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, the staff's warmth was palpable. Check-in was swift and efficient, and I was immediately struck by the beautiful, traditional decor that blended seamlessly with modern amenities. My room was upgraded in the Premium Suite which was spacious, impeccably clean and with a living room .The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail, and the amenities were premium selected. What truly set the property apart, however, was the exceptional service and the warmth of the people. Upon departure they gave us a memento from your trip which was unexpected and incredibly thoughtful gesture that made me feel truly valued as a guest celebrating a special occasion. The Raajkutir hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of its beautiful ambiance, excellent service, and thoughtful surprise made my stay in Kolkata unforgettable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a truly special experience in the heart of this vibrant city.

It's a nice building and aesthetically pleasing and I enjoyed the pool. My favourite thing was a flute player every morning, so it was possible to sit outside in the shade of the morning listening to a lovely melody at breakfast time. The evening entertainment was the same everyday! Very Groundhog Day - interesting once or twice but then repetitious, though amusing the first time. I'd encourage the management to consider some variation.

I was delighted to see the display for Earth Day, which was charming, but the hotel isn't very ecological. Firstly, they replace towels whereas a lot of hotels only replace towels if they are left on the floor and supply a little note asking guests to leave towels on the floor if they want fresh ones. Secondly, there is a lot of plastic use (consider giving guests a reusable water breaker/flask and installing fill-up points for filtered water which could be chilled and therefore nicer than the warm water in plastic in the rooms). Thirdly, my dressing gown was whisked off for cleaning as soon as I used it, whereas I'd have been happy to have worn it the entire week...

Overall the hotel is very pleasant. Our evening meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. A pool with loungers would have been pleasant but we were so busy sightseeing it probably didn’t matter. The pool looked lovely but was only really suitable for swimming lengths.

The bathroom in our room seriously needs updating. It was big enough for both a walk in shower and a bath tub. I really struggled to get in and out of the bath to shower and found it very difficult to actually get under the shower! Plus the bath surround is very dingy because of the years of water flowing on it. That is my only complaint.

a beautiful Bengali heritage boutique hotel that has set a very high standards across Kolkata. The check-in experience was smooth; rooms immaculate; breakfast buffet absolutely scrumptious with various cuisines from different regions of India and the F&B staff that made sure everyone was seamlessly catered to; the location was absolutely gorgeous and meditative with a massive area surrounded by lustrous green. The entire staff is the epitome of hospitality including the security personnel Kunal at the entrance. I and my wife had a wonderful time and wish to visit again.

A beautiful respite in a bustling city (with terrible air quality). The staff at the hotel are wonderful. The facilities with a beautiful pool and a great cafe add to the experience. Fabulous food in the restaurant also and enjoyed a massage in the spa.Enjoyed every moment! Used the hotel driver/car several times which enabled us to see and do more in this interesting city. Such a shame about the pollution.

Nothing to do with the hotel but the air pollution and rubbish problem has hit unbearable levels. We started coughing day one. All the rivers, canals are full of rubbish, piles of it everywhere. Tourism is dropping for a reason. There seems no will or interest in changing. Such a shame for the wonderful people who work in hospitality.

My mother, myself & my 7 month old baby stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is fascinating & luxurious. We had a beautifully furnished, great sized room and the bathroom was lovely. The bed, linen & pillows were super comfortable, so we all slept really well. I highly appreciated that the toiletries were 'green dot' (vegetarian suitable) with mostly eco packaging. The breakfast had a wonderful spread with a very large amount of vegetarian options, and it had variety each day. The dishes were also labelled well for dietary restrictions. The morning & evening flute performances were a lovely treat & created a wonderful ambiance. The staff were all really lovely. Of particular note was Priyanka at the cafe who took exceptional care of us throughout our stay.

We liked everything, but a little suggestion is to bring socks or slippers as the lovely marble floors in the rooms are hard on the feet after a while. Perhaps the hotel could offer some for purchase.

A true oasis amongst the hustle and bustle that constitutes Kolkata.This fabulous hotel built in the heritage style of traditional Bengoli certainly delivered in value, hospitality, architecture and sheer ambience. Our beautiful room was spacious, immaculately clean with a lovely bathroom. The bedding was luxurious. Excellent food and wide choice at the breakfast buffet with a dosa and egg station. Evening folk performances were great with snacks provided. All the staff were exceptional from Unnati in the coffee shop to Sunita in reception who went that extra mile to make our stay memorable. But we cannot sign off without mentioning Maimur, the wonderful doorman who truly enjoys his job. He enthusiastically catered to our every need whilst willingly engaging in welcome conversations. Our hero! when it came to negotiating a fair price with taxi drivers. We extended our stay for two more nights through Sunita. A very memorable and special stay. We will love to come back one day.

It was all perfect. Best hotel experience we have had in our three months of travelling in India.

Rajkutir was a pleasant surprise for us - did not expect the property to be so well maintained with decor and flavors of the old 'zamindari rajbari' (or palace). The rooms, the patio ('dalan' as it is called in Kolkata) were spacious. Although it is situated in the heart of one of the busiest parts of Kolkata, once you are inside, you will not hear any disturbing sounds of the city. Lots of trees and greenery surround the property to make it seem like you are living outside city areas.

The entrance to the property is a bit confusing, even to taxi drivers who have been around. I would suggest that they open up the 'banquet entrance' for guests who want to check in or visit one of the restaurants.

The ambience was beautiful with a large courtyard and elegance of a bygone era. The room was spacious with a large bathroom but with modern amenities like AC and cable TV and modern bathroom fittings. The bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet at night. The breakfast spread was good with freshly made dosa/omelets/luchis. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The evening ceremony with folk performances and snacks was enjoyable. It is a good option for travelers who want a luxurious stay but want to have plenty of open spaces right in the heart of Kolkata. We plan to come back.

There was a drain smell in the bathroom. The drainage was probably partially blocked or needs a water trap.

Everything, the staff were polite and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The room we stayed in was beautiful, it was big, comfortable and very well equipped. Lots of lovely toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast buffet had a huge choice, the restaurant in the evening was as quiet but the food was good. Loafers cafe had the most amazing cakes. There was a pool, which we had to ourselves when we cooled off after a day of site seeing. There is a spa and a gym and although we didn’t use these a member of staff showed us where all these facilities were. The hotel has a small entrance but then opens up to the most wonderful heritage hotel. Uno just next door also has great food and it was quite lively on the Friday evening we went in there.

Nothing really, it was a little further away from some of the attractions but an uber was cheap enough to get into Kolkata centre
