Unusual operation: there is no "desk" and no manager at the motel. All communications, including checkin, is conducted via text and email. That said, communication was superb, and the system worked great for me. If you are not savvy with email and texting, probably not the place for you. Room is clean and ample.
1. The motel tacked a $10/day "amenity" charge onto my bill, reminiscent of Ticketmaster's vile "convenience charge". This charge is not clearly explained on the Booking.com site or the motel's. I complained about it, and the manager graciously refunded it. Carefully check your bill and be leery of giving them your credit card number. 2. Breakfast is a basket of granola bars, and it is not put out until 7:30.

The staff was wonderful. The room was large with enough chairs. The towels were thick and large enough. There were enough electric outlets for everything to be plugged in. We knew that the breakfast was a sparse one. They did have cereal, fruit and different types of "granola" bars. We did like that they had a keurig machine in the room and an assortment of cups to choose from.
The room could have been a little cleaner. I may be too picky but there were stray hairs on the bathroom floor, baseboards needed to be dusted and a dead bug in drawers. As an older woman I was able to figure out how to get in. My only problem was seeing the keypad in the dark.

They have done a nice job renovating what used to be a sub-par property. It's clean and well-located in the village. It's the best option in Tupper Lake.
I don't love self-checkin. It's a hotel; not an AirBnB. For the price, a bit of human contact would be appreciated. There still are aspects of the rooms that need to be upgraded. The towel bar was falling off the wall (this was a problem the last time I stayed too) ... probably because the walls use low-end particle board. The shower faucet was semi-broken and, once I finally got it on, I couldn't turn it off.

Place is very pretty, in a great area, rooms and beds were nice, we all took a vote that if we had to stay somewhere on the roadtrip longer in would've been here. And the adirondacks are just a gorgeous area. Harvey and son tea was a nice touch too.
These are such minor complaints. The breakfast was more like a snack bar they could have used a second fire pit, and maybe towards a part of the property less visible. We had to play host to various guests who wanted to stop by a fire, but not make one. Which while unsocial, is how we felt. (BTW the other guests were very nice and we still had a good time we're just anti-social)

It was good, and you had alot of choices. If you left hungery it would be your fault. I thought Miguel and his niece did a great job in managing the food area and lobby. He answered all my questions. Like where a good restaurant was, where was a drug store, ?
Would have liked to see the gideon bible in the rooms, Also just a few nice pictures in the rooms, pretty antiseptic walls,. The shower curtain in room 7 needs to be anchored into the wall securely. Also the dust on the base board in the bathroom needs to be clean off, as you are sitting on the toilet you notice this right away and it makes you look elsewhere for dirt in the room. The curtains did not fully block out the sunlight in the morning they were just a little short on the ends. Need to put a little sign under the room thermostat that the AC is controlled at the wall unit.

Trailhead did a great job renovating the motel into a more boutique feel. Rooms felt cozy & beds were comfortable. I love the communal feel of the motel. Sitting outside in the evening and watching the kids swim was really lovely. The coffee/tea kitchenette with a water bottle refill station was great. The front lobby was well decorated, and the very moody feel with soft music playing was a nice touch. Even though there's not always someone on-site, it was relatively easy to contact someone for help with a small issue I had. We went to Tupper Lake to visit The Wild Center, which is a few minutes away from Trailhead, so that was lovely. The kids and I had a great stay.

Nice introduction to the Adirondacks. These are a treasure of the US. Great trail walks on surrounding peaks. Immediate town offers much. Great Little Italy Restaurant. Easy to walk to lake and enjoy a walk.
A little more attention to detail would help at this location. Check-in is weird. Told you will receive an email 2 hour before check-in but in other breath download everything before arriving as internet reception poor. Then 4pm check-in. Luckily, they let us check-in earlier without receiving an email.

I liked how modern the rooms are, it was also nice to have a self check-in and the woman I spoke with on the phone the night we arrived was very helpful and kind.
There were only a few complaints, I wish the doors had dead bolts on them...the existing doors didn't seem secure enough so I was a little worried about that. I also was hoping for a better breakfast but there wasn't much out other than individual cups of cheerios and oatmeal

Very comfortable, newly renovated room. Room was similar to photos on Booking.com, however decor, lighting and colors have changed. A/C unit worked well, and is reasonably quiet. There is a separate heat thermostat on the wall, which also works well. Bathroom/shower all fine. There is very good WIFI (the booking.com description incorrectly stated "No WIFI"). Did not partake of breakfast, so unable to comment on that. As others have stated, we received a text perhaps ~ 1pm on day of arrival asking for us to complete a very brief online registration. Once done, we received another text which provided us with our room number, access code, and WIFI details. This process actually worked amazingly smoothly. For checkout, we just texted a Thank You when we left (a few minutes before 7am) and received a nice reply back almost immediately!
1) As others have stated, the property is under renovation. We had no problem regarding that since they are really trying to make improvements. 2) There is no elevator to the second level. This wasn't a problem for us. I believe there may be some handicapped rooms on the first level. 3) The room was reasonably well lit by the ceiling light, but if you didn't want that on, the room otherwise had limited lighting (one modern small lamp on the desk, one low wattage light on the nightstand). It would be great if the ceiling light was on a dimmer!
