Location!!! The hotel was in the heart of Lake Placid. Being up on the hill you had an incredible view of Mirror Lake. And no matter what are of the hotel you stayed, you had incredible views of the high peaks surround the town. We were located on the South side so we had views from our Balcony of the high peaks and the top of the Olympic Ski Jump. As long as you don’t mind walking up and down a big hill (there was a side walk) the location was was perfect for quick access to downtown and Mirror Lake. And the Olympic Center was right below the hotel.

The hotel was excellent and very clean. The mattresses on the beds were much firmer than I prefer, but that is just my personal preference. Otherwise there wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

Location, location, being able to park here and walk the town is a big plus. Staff is very friendly at the front desk and in the restaurant, also offers a great view of the town and lake. Winter Xmas lighting was nice into February we loved thw alpine lodge feel with the fireplace. Very comfortable beds. Very clean and well maintained, nice pool and hot tub is nice after a day of skiing. Lobby is beautiful as is sitting in the bar/restaurant. Overall a really nice stay we will be returning.

There's really nothing to not like here. The hotel is family friendly and with so many events, hockey tournaments etc on the weekend the hotel can be lively with younger kids in the halls and lobbies. That's not a slight on the hotel just something to keep in mind. During the week it's very quiet. The hotel does show its age (its maintained just think 1990's early 2000's) in some areas such as the pool and some rooms, this wasn't a deal breaker for us at all just keep in mind, (we liked the look!). We will be returning as the hotel definitely checked all the boxes. Be aware that the overlooking view is excellent but with that comes a long walk up the hill from town.

The temperature of the room was easy to control. Water in shower had good flow. The beds were very comfortable, I slept deeply. Breakfast is available, but most times I ate leftovers from Dinner, that I kept in the mini-fridge. Breakfast buffet is very good, and custom egg omelets by a "chef" is available. Coffee or Tea is available 24/7 from the dining area. The pool/hot tub was refreshing and well maintained. The lawn was spacious, well groomed, and easily accessed from my 1st floor Balcony, which had real room to sit down, read, etc. Check out your room and balcony before settling in. You've been warned. Some of the balconies are unusable, mine was great. Read what I "didn't like" in the next paragraph.

What I didn't like is the hotel sells rooms with balconies that are too small to actually use. they call them "stand-in" balconies which only come with a table, NO CHAIRS, because there is literally no room for much anything else. Maybe good for potted plants? This is a sham in my opinion as you will pay MUCH MORE for your room, and I can guarantee, you will not use that pathetic excuse for a balcony. In the realty business they are referred to as "Juliet Balconies" I guess because Juliet could only stand there, pining for her Romeo, LOL.

The room was good sized, two queen beds. The view from the hotel grounds was lovely - you could see the lake and the autumn colors were beautiful. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner (rainy and cold outside), and it was very tasty. Reasonable prices. We loved the seasonal "Autumn Russian" drink (we each had two!). We also had the buffet breakfast the next morning and thought it was a good value at $16/person.

While I didn't pay for an upgraded view room (maybe I would next time?), the view of the hotel roof was not pleasurable. Everything else was very nice.

The staff were friendly and professional, the room was well-appointed, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the price was right.

The hotel sits atop a hill and while it was easy to walk down the path to Main Street, going back up was another story. It was tiring but doable during the summer. If you have mobility or respiratory issues that limit your ability to climb a steep path, and you want to be able to leave the hotel and walk up and down Main Street, book somewhere else. But if you’re up to it and don’t mind the workout, it’s a nice hotel.

The hotel was clean and beautiful. The pool area was clean. The room was very nice and comfortable, the water was hot and there was plenty of hot water. It was in walking distance to many restaurants and shops.

There weren't vending machines in all the areas the signage said there was. And where there were vending machines they were either out of order or out of things. There was one working one but it was all the way at the other end of the hotel. Which was frustrating when we wanted water late at night.

Front desk staff was very helpful and answered my questions. I loved the views from the dining room , the stone fireplace, and my omelette was delicious! Place was clean and relaxing. Outside fire pit was nice touch.

On third day (Thursday) kids hockey teams arrived and kids were running down the halls until 10:45 pm. They took over the hot tub too. Carpeting in stairways was very ugly. How about a pen and paper pad in room? Outside stone pathways were slippery in spots.

Very large room with nice views to the south. My room was also very far from the lobby, which I really preferred. It was a great place for a solo-escape weekend. I visited the pool/hot tub, and it was nice enough. I stayed in the hot tub for quite a while, and the only reason I went into the main pool was to cool off. I ate breakfast in the main room and enjoyed a nice view of Mirror Lake while I ate breakfast. I was very comfortable, but a little cold, and I wished that the fireplace actually put out heat instead of just being for ambiance. It was really nice to go in mid-April when there is NO one in town. Very relaxing if you're looking to get away.

Wished that the fireplace actually warmed the room, and wasn't just for aesthetics. The location on the hill is great IF you don't plan to walk around town. The walk back up is quite an effort!

What I liked the most was the location and the fact that the hotel really reminded me of home. A beautiful, large hotel in the mountains has its own unique atmosphere. The view from the restaurant, the terrace, and the surrounding area are truly impressive.

What I didn’t like was the air conditioning in the room — it was loud and blew directly onto the bed. However, it’s possible that other rooms have a different setup.

The hotel was wonderful. The Pool was clean, beds were very comfortable, the view was amazing, fireplace in the room was cozy, the restaurant was decent and convenient. I was grateful for the coffee service and the friendly staff.

There were many travelers upon our arrival and it was hard to find a cart for our luggage, and there were some people running through the halls late at night, but it was a big sports weekend and there isn’t much you can do about that.
