This is the best place we stayed so far. The rooms have an amazing view to the lake including from the bathroom! The design was beautiful and look elegant. Outside the room we were able to see animals and plants or rest at the swimming pool. But what makes this place so special is the wonderful staff. They are so caring and kind and the food they cook is delicious! They care about every detail!

It is a bit secluded, but you have everything you need at the place, or the staff would make their best to help you find a transportation to places

What made our week’s stay at Lagoon Gate Tangalle Resort truly exceptional was how well looked after we were by Lalith and his family. My friend and I were interested in yoga and exploring, and not only did Lalith connect us with everyone to ensure we had the best possible experiences, from yoga and kayaking to whale and turtle watching, but we got to discover the closely connected local community. Rooms were spacious and spotless, our meals were freshly home-cooked, and there was plenty to see in the tropical grounds. Tangalle is a stunning part of Sri Lanka, and we are grateful that we really got to make the most of it.

Beautiful lagoon facing room, soooooper spacious room and bathroom. Very clean, immaculately kept and great facilities. Very gracious and helpful staff. will definitely recommend for a relaxing time by the lagoon, great for turtle watching at Rekawe beach. The host arranged a tuk tuk for us to go around too..

The approach road from Rekawe beach road is quite bad-- there is just about 1 road- (exit opposite Sumudu grocery shop) that is acceptable for cars/taxi- and this road does not show on google maps! It is not a walkable distance to the main road/ Tangalle town or Rekawe- you will definitely need a tuk-tuk to go around. The food at the resort (cooked by the host) was tasty- we had lunch- but a tad expensive for home cooked meals. - almost 2 times the standard pricing.

This was our favourite place during our trip travelling around Sri Lanka. Beautiful spot, full of wildlife. Lovely comfortable larger than normal rooms (we had a triple room). Staff super helpful and friendly. Great food, we ate there for lunch and dinner. They made delicious pancakes for our Son on top of the yummy breakfast. Lush pool area, very clean. Free kayaks where you can easily go across the lagoon to a beautiful beach, or along the lagoon. They have a spa, I had a few treatments; each of them great with reasonable rates. Easy to go into town by Tuk Tuk or Uber, not far. However, you could easily just stay at this little pocket of paradise and enjoy it for everything it's been made to be. We stayed here for 3 nights and created a wonderful memory. We would easily return tomorrow and stay longer. Tangalle is a great place to visit and be sure to add this lovely intimate resort to your list of places to stay

Nothing we didn't like.

Super little hotel right by the lagoon. The team were awesome throughout, from the introduction to departure. They always made sure I had everything I wanted for a comfortable stay. There were lots of little touches that make the experience, from free kayaking - a staff member took me and even did the hard paddling! A free trip to a nearby Buddhist temple with amazing 360 degree views. A free coconut brought to you when lounging by the pool. Fresh fruit from the garden, which even gets shared with the local wildlife. The room was large, comfortable with all the facilities. The hotel everywhere was spotless. The pool very clean and a nice temperature. The onsite masseuse is very good. They offer yoga and martial arts lessons too though I never did those. The restaurant was amazing. They have a talented kitchen team. The seafood was especially delicious. The portions huge - see pictures. I had four lobsters for one person one evening and the biggest prawns ever on another. But the best thing is the team. Super friendly, professional and always there for you. I will return!

Everything. This is my paradise. The rooms are large and spotless clean, the restaurant served delicious food which enjoy watching the green surroundings. The best Sri Lankan breakfast on my vacation. The hotel is next to the lagoon and for free you can go kanooing and see the beautiful wildlife or go to the beach where you have miles of beach. Note that the beach has large waves and therefore is not suited for swimming. This does not matter because the hotel has a lovely pool area. The hotel spa is excellent and you get to choose between several treatments.. all are excellent. If you want to arrange travel or tours the hotel offers that too. A young man Ravi will help you arrange tours and airporttransfer. I used this several times and can highly recommend this. Last.. the staff is fantastic, kind and genuinely wants you too feel at home. The best hotel I ever stayed at and looking forward to come again.

I liked everything

My wife and I stayed at Lagoon Gate during our short trip to Tangalle. Due to the affordable cost of the lodgings, we were unsure what type or property it would be and what kind of service we would get; however, once arriving, we were very impressed with the property and the staff on site. The rooms are spacious and very clean, complete with a balcony to relax on in the evening. The swimming pool on site is warm and has a great surrounding area. As the property only has 6-8 guesthouses, it is not too overcrowded and an overall peaceful experience if you are looking to relax. For those active guests, kayaks are available to use free of change and gives you a chance to paddle over to the neighboring island to explore the beach (it took us about 25 Minutes in a double kayak). As it is in quite a remote location, there are no options to venture out for meals (unless you have a car); therefore, your only option is dining in the property’s on-site restaurant. This wasn’t a problem tho as the food was fantastic and the service even better. The portion sizes are massive and the owner was always giving us little extras, such as fruit, soup and even a few local spirits. The menu was reasonably priced, with the majority of main meals costing between 7-9 USD and had a fairly wide selection of local and international options. They also have a selection of beer and spirits for those looking to have a few drinks (also a stocked mini bar in your room). Over all, we would give our stay a solid 10/10 as it more than exceeded our expectations, considering the price. Will definitely be back in the future. Mark & Sarah

This place is so well-maintained (spotlessly clean, garden is full of exotic plants and wild animals and the pool is cleaned literally every 10minutes) and it was pleasant to sleep on a high quality bed (all furnitures are very pristine). But what makes this place special is the staff. They are proactive, friendly and progressional. We had such a wholesome time here and we are already planning to come back next year. Please try their food, Tuna sashimi is the best tuna I have ever had and all are very reasonably priced. Beaches around here tend to be quieter yet had all nice bars and restaurants.

Literally nothing

Really one of the best hotels we ever stayed in. From the rooms, to the service to the hotel area with the pool - everything felt more like a 5-star-surrounding. The manager and the stuff are as helpful as it gets and fulfill wishes you didn't know you even hat. The view from the shower was amazing as well as the rest of the apartment. 10/10 - we would totally come again.

ONLY thing approvable: though they ask you beforehand what time you want to have breakfast/dinner (to be best prepared I guess) sometimes it takes a while until you get your food. But you can enjoy a lovely view from the terrace meanwhile and calm down. So nothing to worry about.

Great room, great food, great people. If you like Sri Lankaan food, make sure you ask the owner about the opportunity to eat at a local family’s house. Really great food and and a special experience.

It’s not close by the beach.
