I liked everything. Room was cosy on a main road but not busy or too noisy. Bed was really comfy I have severe insomnia but slept well and slept in! Breakfast in room was enough and I liked not having to get up and rush down for breakfast it was just eat at your leisure. I don't eat meat but no worries was provided with a vegetarian sausage sandwich. Staff were fabulous and really thoughtful and id like too extend another thankyou for kindness that was shown and accommodating me with waiting for bus . I loved the area and the friendly folks definitely recommend.

We stayed over night on our way up North, and had a lovely stop-over, the food in particular was awesome. The landlord an extremely lovely guy certainly knows how to cook, and keep his patrons happy.The staff were really lovely and we were made to feel very welcome, as was our dog who was with us.The room was clean and spacious, and we both enjoyed a good nights sleep. Not being able to eat all the delicious food on offer! We’ve never had starters so large! We intend to visit again, and will share the starters to allow room for the delicious main courses.

Very friendly stayed here for four nights with work. Food was fantastic nice comfortable ensuite single person‘s room couldn’t fault the place would hardly recommend any work man on his own working away for a good evening meal and a good night sleep even when the food isn’t available on a Monday night you can order in, from the local village Indian is super is the pizza and kebab shop what can I say? The chef? Gorden Landlord cannot do enough for you very reasonable priced and very large portions

Our stay here was lovely, staff friendly and helpful, Our evening meals were very nice, I thought the Venison sausage was very tasty! Location is a bit out of the way for where we needed to be, but not too far to the motorways to travel to Scunthorpe and Doncaster.

No outdoor light at the side of the rooms, so you walked in the dark, fine coming out because you had the shine of the Tavern light.

Our room was clean and spacious with a small fridge and a bottle of milk & water provided along with tea/coffee, hotchocolate & biscuits. The bed was large and comfortable. We paid for breakfast on both mornings of our stay and had an evening meal on the first night. The food was exceptional with very good portion sizes. The owner was kind enough to let us eat breakfast in the lounge area as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. This is the second time we have stayed at the River Don and would definitely stay again if we are on the area. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly host who sorted out ground floor rooms due to disabled guests, this was very much appreciated, great service and atmosphere in the Bar, welcoming.

The Bathroom in Room 1 has a drain smell issue that needs to be sorted out. Breakfast has moved from the Restaurant to a "sandwich contential offering in the room" We understood the reason but staff could be hired to address. Would recommend mats inside Rooms 1-4 to protect the carpet on wet days.

Able to choose my food preferences. Cooked breakfast perfect and fresh. Porridge just as I liked. I booked there as a convenient stop off, overnight, place that took a dog. Also quiet after hectic journey driving roads I didn’t know. Perfect location- a reminder of how country villages used to be in “the 50s/60s” when I grew up in North Yorkshire. “Heartbeat” is still a programme I watch and enjoy. Too much anger around, wherever we go nowadays.

The shower was unfamiliar to me. Tried controlling water temperature by turning alternative tap, but would have scalded myself. Therefore, after seriously long drive from Ilfracombe to near Scunthorpe and enduring all weathers, I was pretty keen to have refreshing shower, but had to make do with a wash down (as my granny would say😄).

The rooms are comfy, clean and every thing works, with all of the facilities available as advertised in booking.com. The pub does a good selection of food at a very reasonable price and breakfast is good value for money. The staff are excellent... all of them.. maybe not so much the dog lol whose a bit grumpy. Wifi is good and works, and there's some nice touches, like the fresh milk, which is really nice. Value for money is excellent.

Maybe a bigger TV? but that's possibly the worst I could mention an.d value for money, it's a real nit pick

I loved how close it was to family and how quiet it was when me and my s/o needed to sleep! It was clean and comfortable and I couldn't have asked for anything more! And for such a good price too! We had the pub manager come to our room to ask if we needed anything extra on top of all of our lovely service we recived and the food was amazing to top that off as well!

When we tried to work the shower, the hot water was extremely hot and we found it a little difficult to change the setting on it.

The breakfast was lovely, and cooked perfectly, plenty of choice of cereals etc. The landlord does a wonderful job ,but could do with a little help I think. Cups in dining room all tea stained, Condiment tray covered in sauce, tables sticky, ( could do with good spray of Elbow grease, and wiped with anew clean cloth.) Bathroom bin not been emptied since last guest. Water in shower to hot, and couldn't be regulated. On a positive note, the fridge in the room with fresh milk and bottled water a lovey touch.

None of the above are criticisms, just to raise awareness.
