Charm, elegance and beauty

Minor changes make major differences: We had been many times before and had expected to have our dinner and breakfast in the restaurant which is old and beautiful and full of character. However we were disappointed to have to eat in their glorified cafeteria which is dressed up with appropriate table clothes etc but has no windows, a dropped foam tiled ceiling and no charm at all. We explained to management that the restaurant is part of the experience of staying in a castle and they agreed that those kinds of changes should be communicated to guests to avoid disappointing surprises.

Whole experience was great breakfasts, room and dinners were very good! First class service at this accommodation. The young staff are so polite and do an excellent job they are the future of this place. All breakfasts and dinners were served with care and first class service. Staff know their jobs very well. We were made welcome from the first point of contact. Patrick`s welcome to breakfast was very informative, this individual is a very hard working young man, who exceeds all expectations and executes a great welcome to the start of your day. Thank you Cave Castle.

I loved all the staff very polite , I got a lovely hug from Carol she's great host at breakfast lovely cooked english breakfast with continental style of cheeses to nuts all sorts there beautifully laid out , and love the new coffee machines I went to the spa swim and read my book was lovely quiet did the sauna and steam room and jacoozi was lovely pool.warm it was superb , and stayed in a quaint lovely room with original walling of the castle in the room which was sweet , lovely food had scampi and chips and drinks throughout my stay met some lovely guests who freinds in pool everyone here is freindly its a gorgious hotel full of history lovely to walk around I could live here everyday. I shall be back after the wedding day in my blue tulle dress 👗 to stay again was a fantastic day and felt relaxed.

The staff on reception,the restaurant,and bar were excellent so was the food

There was a problem with the heating for the pool in the spa which made the water very cold but after a few lengths it was ok, the safe in our room did not work so I went to reception to see why they told me they were changing some safe,s for new one's but they could put us in a new room with the safe working but having unpacked we decided to stay in same room, but why wasn't we put in a room with a safe that worked in the first place if they had spare rooms, any way they were only 2 small problem's which didn't spoil our stay

Liked everything apart from the swimming pool, which was not functioning as normal. Low temperature and no showers. We had pre-booked to use these facilities but decided to cancel because of the issues. We would have probably used them had the hotel offered to discount the additional cost but they didn't. We had hoped to use the swimming pool so this was disappointing. The rest of the stay was great though.

Location, friendly staff, comfortable warm rooms

Room allocation: I had telephoned and asked for a room with a view. Allocated room no.1 with a view over the front of the hotel Upon arrival the room had been changed and the 'view' was over the health club not the front of the hotel. Staff stated that because I had not specifically requested that room the booking was changed and given to a guest who had asked for that room. An upgrade to a room with a similar view was offered, but we had already unpacked so felt it not worth moving rooms. Also the shower flow control lever was missing, so shower could not be used.

The location was beautiful, lovely building and most of the inside is eloquently decorated. The pool and spa facilities are also lovely.

The rooms in the newer part of the house could do with updating. The room we were staying in despite being clean could have done with some more home comforts and was dated. The window stared out at a brick wall and for the money was a little disappointing. The restaurant areas despite being decorated lovely and friendly staff are expensive and not value for money.

Hotel and surroundings aesthetically pleasing, value for money with spa facilities. Staff very accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. When a fault with shower was mentioned it was immediately dealt with. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Lovely walk on the Wolds way on the doorstop.

Unfortunately visited when swimming pool area had to have dehumidifiers and pool was chilly, though this was well explained, it may have been a good idea to offer a small discount. Didn't spoil our stay, but had we have gone specifically for the spa would have felt disappointed.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings, stayed here with my husband for our anniversary and my birthday, had use of the pool and spa facilities, which was lovely and relaxing, staff were friendly and professional, room's were comfy and clean, food during the day and evening was very nice too, highly recommend staying here

Bit disappointed we were not told the full a'la carte menu would not be available due to the Tribute Event being held, which we were looking forward to, we only had the set menu option, which was limited but nice, (maybe advice guests on booking)

The location is fantastic, wonderful views and ample parking spaces. The surrounding countryside has many interesting places to visit. The staff from reception,to, restaurant, to bar, to Courtyard were all highly efficient and friendly. We ate in the Windsor restaurant and the food and service was top rate. The room was quite large, and the bed really comfortable.

There is nothing to dislike. We have both been here several times, and have always enjoyed our visits. We will also, be returning.
