Incredible value for money. Very clean rooms and we opted for a budget room with a shared bathroom as it was literally somewhere to get our heads down after a family party nearby. Everywhere was immaculate. I’m sure comments will and have been made about the atmosphere in the pub below…it was obvious that trouble was brewing but we knew that we were staying above a pub when we booked. So back to the rooms…absolutely lovely and really comfortable we paid less than £60 per room and were so impressed. Have stayed in hotels at nearly double the price that were nowhere near as good or clean. Well done Jolly Sailor!

I didn’t like the fight that broke out in the pub when we headed downstairs to go out to the local shop opposite. It was scary. However…my husband said to think of it as free entertainment - a boxing match! Either way, once the pub closed it was a really quiet night and we slept well.

It was a cute and comfortable room. The bed was particularly comfortable, I had an excellent night sleep. I get cold easily, so the extra plush throw over was great. There was plenty of tea and coffee at the drink station, which was nice too. I ate in the restaurant, and had a delicious pie and homemade chips and a refreshing pint. The Internet was good enough to stream.. Nice hot shower too.

If it served breakfast, it would have scored a 10. Though the staff did tell me 2 nearby options for breakfast, which was useful. I did pack some fruit though as I was aware they don't have brekkie.

Great staff, really friendly and welcoming. This is a great value stay, the bedrooms/en suites were ok - not luxury but absolutely perfect for a comfortable overnight stay. Very clean which is most important to us, nice warm bedrooms (great radiators). Would stay again without hesitation. We ate on Saturday evening-great, wholesome food. We had Sunday lunch, loads of fresh veg, really great roast and very reasonably priced!!

The rooms were clean and tidy, and the bed was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are very clean, and the shower works wonderfully.

Room 2 the bedside table lamp was supplied but no socket to plug it in, Room 4 the twin socket where the kettle is, tried plugging in phone charger and found that the right hand socket doesn't work, however the left hand one does. I know the owners have just taken over, so these issues didn't affect us, and just wanting to bring it to the owners attention

Doing a sponsor walk for Charity is gruelling, but staying here made sure we had a brilliant sleep to set off on our last leg of West to East walk. The landlady and the staff couldn't do enough for us. It was fab

We liked Everything everyone was so friendly even the locals they made us feel so welcome we stayed for the weekend for a wedding but on the Saturday we left the wedding early to come back to the jolly sailor

i had a room without a bathroom, but if i paid a little more, i could have had an on suite.

Ideally situated, comfortable and clean staff friendly and helpful.
