It is difficult to name one thing that I like. There are so many elements that makes this place unique and stand out from the others. Starting from the most magnificent location You can imagine. Historical Building surrounded by pure nature makes this a magnificent place to stay. The only neighbours I met was a phesants, sheeps and few birds. Saying that the connection with next town is very good and easy to travel either by car or taxi. (Staff helped with transport from train station etc.) It is very rare to find the hotel that has their own "secret" gardens and beautiful river view. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Metioning food - You can tell when there is passion and love, as the dishes were from another level. Beautiful breakfast and dinners. This is something is definitely worth to travel even just to experience that. The breakfast service was exceptional. The lady which was taking breakfast order was very helpful with positive aura. Dish delivered with 10-15 minutes - super, when you travel for work the same morning. I had a beautiful view on the large magnolia tree every morning and the garden was filled with snowdrops. Magical place

Lovely Hotel in beautiful location with well kept grounds and garden., Staff genuinely helpful and friendly: full marks. Food excellent. A proper country house hotel with a lovely blend of original features and modern comfort. Cant beat using a sash window that works properly!

A bit pricey but there again you get what you pay for! My only gripe would be calling our one bedroom and bathroom a suite and with only one comfy chair to sit on but there again it was just a one night stay mid week and the sitting room downstairs was great.

All of the staff were efficient welcoming and friendly. The building facilities were very good. Nice room with excellent bathroom. The pre-booked afternoon tea, which we received as an anniversary gift, was excellent and good value for money. We just had a sandwich platter for two in the evening which was also excellent and very good value for money. Breakfast was also very good. However, we did not eat in the restaurant as we had an superb, and large, steak pie meal at the nearest pub, the Bricklayer's Arms in Laxton, on the second night. The grounds were pleasant. A private hire car all the way from Howden to Laxton to pick us up from the Briclayer's Arms to take us back to the Hall cost £25. However, it was "Pie Night" in the pub the following night and a lady, Shelley, who was a customer in the pub offered to come and collect us from the Hall and to the pub and back again afterwards. Absolute angel. All the locals were friendly people and the pub was a real gem. The home made pie was big and tasty.

It was too far from anywhere and there was nothing to do on site. The walk to the nearest pub was a one hour real treck on foot. Local taxi services are almost non-existent. Absolutely stunning location and accommodation. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We made a dinner reservation prior to arriving, and I'm so glad we did, we had dinner in the library with the log fire on, which was very nice. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious and well worth the money. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and comfortable with everything you could need. Short business trip this time, but I will definitely return.

Everything! The property was stunning including the surroundings grounds. The Hall has been refurbished to a very high standard and has a wonderful, homely, yet opulent atmosphere. We loved that there are some original features remaining including the kitchen ovens etc

Nothing regarding the property. Our only slight negative comment would be related to the music, it could be heard from our bedroom constantly and when in such peaceful, stunning countryside to hear the birds is sometimes all you need.

Came for a brunch event and decided to make a night and stay over for it, was a lovely event and the food was amazing we booked an evening meal too when we checked in and had breakfast. Honestly the ground was lovely too and so was the room.

After we had finished the event for brunch we went to sit outside in the outdoor seating and there was no one for a while to come take our order for drinks, service was a little slow on that bit, other than that everything else was perfect.

Idyllic location and amazing property. Staff attentive. Food superb.

Room like a sauna. No ability to reduce the heat. So we opened the windows to let in the winter cool. Alas, we overlooked the staff car park so it was noisy from before dawn resulting in a poor nights sleep.

Location peaceful. Liked having the river so close Pleasent and helpful staff Very clean throughout Grounds lovely we were here in winter but they must be stunning in summer Liked sitting in the library by the open fire Cosily decorated for Christmas Good menu choices for dinner Good value wine Breakfast tasty and well presented with good coffee

Room and corridors too hot because the weather had been mild It is remote and roads not good so would advise arriving in daylight

We often use Saltmarsh Hall for accommodations for work trips in the area. It's a beautiful old picturesque estate. Great breakfast and good standard. I would imagine it would be perfect for weddings and similar events.

The location could do well with a hotel gym and/or earlier opening hours for the pool to compete with similar priced hotels. All in all a good location to stay.

This place is a real find. Very friendly staff. The hotel is simply wonderful and equally so the surrounding grounds for walking.
