The rooms were obviously recently refurbished - everywhere was sparkling clean with a comfy bed, nice clean bedding, a large walk in shower with toiletries. There was plenty of tea, coffee milk etc and room to store luggage and decent space to hang clothes. You can control the temperature in the toom too. The room was excellent value for money. It is in the main centre so easy walking distance of the Abbey etc. Do not worry if there is noise from the pub below in the evening - at 1030pm all music etc is switched off and there was literally no noise at all - rooms at the front and back were very quiet after 1030 and there was no trouble at all sleeping. The rooms are accessed up a side external/covered staircase - this was fine for us and there is a rail etc - it did feel safe.

The location is fantastic right in the centre of Selby 2 minutes away from the Abby and main shops plenty of places to eat especially good as this hotel/pub doesn't do food the room was modern and well presented not bed was comfy not massive but big enough as it was really only for sleeping in large tv with a fair amount of channels wifi was good so I'm presuming you could use a fire stick or screen casting
The only negative was a constant bass type noise that's hard to describe it wasn't music but it was constant until the pub closed there were ear plugs provide we had a drink in the bar and you could hear it but no one was taking any notice of it so seemed pointless we were in room 6 at the back of the pub so presume that rooms over the bar would have heard it more but would definitely stay in the Bay Horse again

Location was great in the centre of Selby. The staff were all friendly and helpful, a lovely clean modern room with coffee making facilities. The hotel does not offer food so a list of local cafes and takeaways on the desk was a nice touch. Separate side entrance up to the hotel rooms so you don't have to go through the pub if you return late.
if there was parking available. It can't be helped due to location but having said that there is a pay and display car park directly opposite the hotel.

Just right for cyclists riding the Transpennine Trail - bikes can be stored securely in the rear yard and passageway (I'm not sure how this would work for large groups, however - ask about capacity before you book). The only potential source of noise is the church bells chiming the hours - this may be the reason why they provide free earplugs in the rooms!
Breakfast is not provided - not really surprising as it's only a small town centre pub - but can be taken at a local cafe or the nearby Wetherspoons.

Its above a pub so expect to hear noise in the background, but it was not that bad. Very clean and included hairdryer and capsule epsresso machine apart from kettle for instant coffee. Separate entrance from the pub which is nice as you dont have to go through it if its busy, other than when checking in and out.
I expected some noise as it was above a pub, but the door of the hotel area (1st floor) made a very loud and abrupt noise when guests were coming in which could wake you up.

Lovely warm and comfortable room. Bed was comfortable and the whole room was relaxing. Modern but still had the nice period pieces of the wood. Check in was simple, the lady who welcomed me on her first shift was lovely and welcoming.
Only bug was the shower in the room (3) was scalding hot, I can deal with a warm shower but literally felt like it was burning. Could not change the temperature at all!

Lovely warm welcome & friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room. Great location & great check-in time. This was our 2nd visit & will no doubt return.
Obviously being above a pub there will be noise from the pub & the street. Ear plugs were actually provided, we didn't need them as we'd been to a family party and slept soundly! Breakfast isn't provided but there is a cafe over the road & a Wetherspoons 5 minutes walk away.

The rooms are modern and clean and very comfortable but the staff were 5 star, and the view if Selby abbey from the room was beautiful ❤️ The.location is ideal and as a first time visitor to Selby we were astounded by the local people's friendliness and desire to help in any situation An absolutely beautiful little village
Nothing, we loved the trip and the Bay Horse was a great part of the experience

The staff are extremely friendly, it’s such a lovely diamond place that you don’t expect in the spot it’s in. The room was really clean and modern, not super huge but the perfect stay as we were only there for the night. It’s on a beautiful square with loads of little cafes and pubs around, and easy parking too!
I personally loved every part, but this hotel isn’t at all sound proof if you’re a light sleeper. The pub is open until 1am with music on (they do make you aware) but they stay true to their word and the music is off by 1. They also turn it down around 11:30, so it was no bother to us. It was nice hearing how lovely it was!

We want to thank a lot the staff a lot. We were checking in after midnight, because of the long delay of our flight. The staff was very responsive and accomodating, given it was passed their check-in hours. The bed was also ver comfy and bathroom very clean. Tip for travellers who are not used to pub culture in UK, bring along earplugs, as there may be some notice from the street. Nevertheless, it adds the charm to the place.
