This is a nice, family run B&B with no frills. The room had everything I needed, and as a bonus, a sink so I didn't have to go out to the bathroom all the time. The bed was comfortable and the price was good compared to others in the area. The basic breakfast (not cooked) was decent enough and suited me fine.

The room was exceptionally warm, as if there had been heating on. I stayed during a particularly warm period, but even so the room was far hotter than outside. The small window didn't provide much ventilation. However, this weather is pretty rare for the UK so it's understandable. One of the showers didn't sit in the holder properly, and I would have preferred separate gendered bathrooms, as the toilet was always dirty with the seat left up.

Friendly staff from start to finish. Rooms were clean and equipped as expected with a nice big comfy bed, plenty of tea and coffee facilities, and a nice sized TV; and unlike some hotels plenty of plugs for chargers in places that made sense! Seemed to be a family run pub and you got that nice feel from the start. Its not a 5* hotel by any means BUT don't let this put you off. Its a friendly, comfortable place to stay with parking, a nice continental style breakfast, and affordable hot options which were freshly cooked not off some buffet! (sausage sandwich was top). If you need a comfy place to get some sleep, freshen up and head out, this is the place.

Excellent value for money. If you are not too bothered about location and just want a clean room, and a decent nights sleep then this fits the bill. The rate we paid was exceptionally cheap for what we got. The pub itself was quiet (it was a Monday afterall) but a 5-10 minute walk took you to a good weatherspoons with some life. I reckon that this pub on other days could be very busy. Didnt have the food here, but the limited menu looked good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good but was more continental than anything....

There should have been an option at booking to have a cooked breakfast, which by all accounts is excellent. As it is, you can pay on the day for a cooked breakfast at additional cost, which was not expensive to be fair.

Everything about the place was well thought out for a pleasant, fuss-free stay. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. There was a desk, TV, hangers for clothes and on openable window for fresh air. I felt a good sense of privacy and had a quiet stay, undisturbed by noise. The free breakfast was a nice gesture, and again was well thought out with a business traveller in mind - there was a nice selection of toast, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants, cheese, cold meat, juice tea and coffee to choose from. Cooked breakfast was available for a very reasonable price, but I prefer to keep it light in the morning - and this was perfect. The breakfast area was very clean, neat and tidy. The stay was excellent value for money overall, and the hosts were great 😃

Please don't judge the inside of this place from it's position. The rooms are very comfy, the only issue being the black grouting in the shower. That could easily be sorted. Donna was very pleasant, and the continental breakfast was one of the best I have ever had, it was served in a lovely dining area that has obviously had money spent on it

I’ve stayed at the Wheldale now on 4 occasions, mainly for work but this time for my Dads 70th Birthday bash. The location is just 5 minutes in to town we’re local bus and trains to Leeds run every 30 mins. 20 mins walk to the fantastic junction 32 discount Outlet with high class brands. Even a Flannels. The Hotel it’s self is very Cosy and well decorated, very tasteful. The rooms are super clean and the beds are so comfortable I just want to stay in bed. Sky TV. Super WiFi. Shower and toilet facilities on the hall for single rooms are spotless and power shower is a dream after a hard day at work. The food is excellent 👌. Home made burger and chips my favourite. Proper chips. 👍 Full English done with style.🥰 The managers/owners are absolutely wonderful. Donna always remembers my face and name and the device is second to none. All in all 11 out of 10. Always look forward to my stays at this home from home hotel.

I am very pleased with my stay from the start to the end. I was welcome by friendly lady who checked me in efficiently and provided me with taxi number I needed. Unfortunately I had already had my food as it was a bit late and I left before breakfast. Otherwise I am sure I would have enjoyed dinner and breakfast there as the pub downstairs seems a great place to relax and enjoy good food. The room was clean, freshly decorated which is rarely the case in a budget hotel. It was also warm. There was no noise except the traffic which you don't hear if you close window. This place strikes me as well managed. Price is excellent value. It serves customers the best it can and I wish management and staff continued success.

There was nothing which did bother me. As an aside note, there was no soap in the room which was fine as I used soap in shared toilets. The reading light bulb did not work and may need changing. These two issues are very small and can easily be corrected.

Very spacious clean room, I was really impressed actually you can tell a lot of thought has gone into this room and bar and food area. Even had full sky channels what was great for a change. Very comfy bed, great hot dul head Shower. Very nice and warm. Very well priced for what you got, And the food downstairs is amazing also great selection of steaks really really good food. The breakfast in the morning was really good as well. I’d stay here again hundred percent.

The walls are a bit thin I could hear the neighbours in the next room. They were very loud tho that did not help. I’m laying in bed at 10 o’clock thinking oh God this is gonna ruin my stay. I thought I’d leave it till 11/12 then I say something and complain but they did get really quiet down, and I had a good night sleeping in the end. Obviously, most of the time you can hear people through walls and some people are allowed than others It’s just the way it is.

Friendly staff, cosy room clean room, great value for money and an outstanding breakfast to top it off. 😁 Liked it that much, I booked it for next week and cancelled the other hotel I was staying at , Why would I want to go somewhere else. There was nothing really to criticise other than myself for not eating something that evening as I missed the cut off time of 8pm. Everyone's food looked impressive, and the reviews were great within my earshot !!

Stayed for one night as we were visiting 2 local RSPB reserves both of which were just a few minutes drive away. Less than 10 minutes walk into town with all the expected facilities. Room was very clean with a lovely, easy to use en-suite shower. Work is being done on the outside of the building and the kitchen was closed for refurbishment but this didn't impact on our stay. Staff were friendly and welcoming. A complimentary breakfast provided everything we needed. Situated directly opposite the Castleford Tigers Rugby ground so in quite an industrial setting with a fairly busy road out front but double glazing cut out traffic noise and we slept well in a very comfortable bed.
