The selection at the breakfast buffet was good. There were enough dishes that I liked for an adequate selection, and how much should you eat anyway? :) Perhaps another fruit option, but I enjoyed what was available. The banana bread was especially good, and I particularly liked freshly made fried egg over toasted raisin bread. There was a swimming pool and a bit further along the beach front, where they let you borrow paddle boats and kayaks for free. There was also a lifeguard in attendance to help you. In front of the hotel at reception, there were bicycles you could borrow, also for free. There were nice touches like free cookies with the turndown service, free afternoon snack, free juices in the room's mini refrigerator, and a friendship bracelet at checkout.

Better lighting on the mirror over the sink, and I would also have liked to get closer to it. I realize that is harder to fix, so maybe another mirror on the wall with good lighting over it. There is a too-small mirror hanging on the open closet, but you cannot get close enough to that either, and the lighting there is also bad. It makes it difficult to put make-up on, or even just to check your back for stray hairs after brushing your hair.

This is a must book in Puerto Princesa!! The whole place is absolutely stunning, the rooms are beautiful with so many nice little touches- and very spacious! It has a beach front that we went out kayaking on through the mangroves. Exceptional customer service, all the staff were so lovely and welcoming. Outdoor/pool/restaurant area is as amazing as it looks in the pictures. We wish we had stayed longer!

What an amazing stay at the Funny Lion, Puerto Princesa ❤️ The staff were unbelievably, fabulous, caring, & attentive from arrival to departure they just couldn't do enough for us ❤️. Our room was very clean & spacious, with an extremely comfortable bed & pillows, breakfast & coffee were lovely, need I say more!. If required, food was served throughout the day from a good menu choice. Great value cocktail happy hour, fabulous, don't miss out🍹 If staying 1 / 2 / 3 or like us more nights, we would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel. The staff are just amazing at the Funny Lion. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay and always make time to have a chat over breaky or drinks by the pool. The C75 restaurant was just outstanding. The best food we've had in Philippines in 3 weeks. The hotel also was happy to help organise tours and travel at reasonable prices without extraordinary mark ups like other resorts we've stayed at. Breakfast was great. Rooms were great. Bed was comfy. Really have no complaints. I would give it a 10/10 if it wasnt for the location!

There isn't much around this Funny Lion in terms of restaurants or shops (I felt like Coron FL was closer to the action) so it's a bit of an effort to get into the restaurants etc in town. That being said C75 was amazing so we just ate there twice 😂

Everything. The hotel is well-appointed, classy, and very comfortable. Food and service is excellent. The staff is great and service is personalized. The hotel can arrange transportation for you by taxi at a very reasonable rate and their accredited drivers are professional and trustworthy. I loved the complimentary welcome snacks. It was such a relaxing place to stay. Even the pool was heated at night.

The hotel is quite remote from the town and it’s a 15 minute drive by taxi. Not a problem for me since I wanted a quiet vacation. But if tourists are hoping for a place to be walking distance to nightlife or other restaurants, this might not be the place for you. It’s more of a retreat.

Our stay at The Funny Lion in Puerto Princesa was absolutely delightful! We were so impressed with everything the property had to offer. The staff truly made our experience exceptional; they were incredibly amazing, especially JP and the wonderful girls whose names we regrettably didn't catch. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality stood out. We also thoroughly enjoyed the food at the restaurant – every meal was simply amazing! Beyond the fantastic staff and delicious food, the hotel itself was great, offering a comfortable and enjoyable environment. A huge bonus was their efficiency in arranging all our transportation throughout our stay in Puerto Princesa, which made exploring the area so much easier and more convenient. We highly recommend The Funny Lion for anyone visiting Puerto Princesa!

I would highlight the staff! Anthony, Daniel, JP, Jeb and I could list everyone we have had connection with. They are super nice proactively looking for how they could help you. The food is amazing, the French-Vietnamese restaurant on the top is a gem. The rooms are super clean and well equipped. The pool area is relaxing and beautiful. The only thing you have to be prepared for is that you cannot swim here in the sea, but we have been prepared for that and for us it was not a problem at all. It was difficult to leave. Highly recommend!

The Funny Lion is a beautiful and well-maintained hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very clean, which made our stay enjoyable. However, the breakfast was quite average and nothing special. The nearby beach is not suitable for swimming, which was a bit disappointing. We also felt that the staff didn’t provide much information about the hotel’s offerings, such as kayak rentals or other available activities, which could have improved our experience. For the price, I expected a bit more overall, especially in terms of food, location, and guest engagement

If you have never felt like you've been spoiled before then spend some time at The Funny Lion in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. This community consists of a team that goes above and beyond to make you feel so special. Our stay was so wonderful and we will treasure amazing lasting memories from this resort. You arrive as a tourist and very quickly you feel like you are part of the family; the staff have a very uncanny way of remembering all their guests’ names. Upon arrival you are greeted by so many smiley faces, a cool cloth soaked in essential oils to wash your face and hands, plus a drink to hydrate which is always welcome at the end of a travel day. Our team member, JP, took such good care of us right from the beinging. He showed us to our room and explained the resort to us very thoroughly. At this resort, you receive complimentary fruit drinks and fresh fruit on your first day. You also receive a pool bag and bandana which you get to take home with you. Every day you get two large bottles of drinking water, coffee/tea which you can make in your room. Each evening, they deliver a little treat (cookie) right to your room … what a wonderful way to end your day. The beds are super comfortable, bathrooms are spotless, the rooms smell great, and the wifi works pretty darn good. The entire staff are professional, kind, and so accommodating. If there is anything you would like, just ask. They will provide your request if it is within their means. The GM of the hotel, Mike, and restaurant manager, Junel, are very approachable and welcome questions or inquiries which is something you do not see in many businesses. The breakfast buffet, which was included in our room price, was very good with a diverse menu and we enjoyed our meals overlooking their beautiful pool and the Sulu Sea. The breakfast could be improved by: 1. Cutting the veggies a bit bigger so they actually can be picked up with a fork. 2. More variety of veggies every single day. Some days there were tomatos and olives and some days there were none. 3. A breakfast soup broth would be a great addition. Plus, a selection of veggies to add to the soup. 4. Plain yogourt would also be a healthy addition.

One evening, facing a taxi fare with no change, Livia generously paid it herself, a gesture that profoundly impressed me. The hotel maintains a high standard of cleanliness and comfort. While the restaurant's gluten-free offerings could be more extensive to accommodate international dietary needs, the available menu provides ample choices for a brief stay. The Funny Lion continues to exceed expectations, and I'm consistently impressed by the warmth and authenticity of its staff.

More gluten free options needed throughout the Philippines. If only someone could provide Gluten Free bread. I understand that Filipino's don't suffer from allergies to dairy and gluten yet but International travellers do.
