I loved everything about this property. My husband and I were travelling with our two adult children and our dog. We stayed for about a week In a three bedroom, meticulously clean apartment. The restaurant was lovely with delicious food and wonderful waiting staff. Lissa in reception coped with our late check in and made us feel very welcome. Marco the bar manager was friendly and very happily gave us wine and cocktail recommendations. All the staff were wonderful. The hotel has been refurbished to the highest standard whilst retaining original features. There is a billiard room, a chapel and a sitting room where we played cards on evenings it wasn’t warm enough to sit outside. The swimming pool is heated and set in beautifully landscaped gardens. All of this is set in the most beautiful part of Umbria. We will return!

We loved it all. They tried very hard to accommodate my vegetarian children. A couple more dishes the standard of the delicious risotto for guests staying for extended periods of time would be appreciated.

Everything was perfect, the best hotel ever!! (and I traveled 45 years ago!) Also the restaurant was amazing and more than exceptional! Best ever tasting meal! Very special historical site with wonderful restaurateur The huge and comfortable apartment, 90m2 for two of us! The amazing clean and large bathroom and daily cleaning service! Tasteful breakfast includes at the price! The privacy of the pool site, great relaxation at the massage!! Lovely and professional attention from all of the staff!

Very beautiful Castello with great restaurant(and great chef). Staff was friendly and attentive. We stayed in 'Sperlonga' room with big terrace overlooking stunning view of Umbria mountains, plenty of spaces to relax inside the clean room and around. Fantastic view from swimming pool with lots of private areas (sunbeds and umbrellas in the labyrinth!). We also spent time listening to classical trio concert in the church and enjoying art galleries...What a hidden paradise, highly recommended.

It was just beautiful here. All the hilltop villages are so stunning, but this one stood out. The team were extremely hospitable and the accommodation perfect. We had a large suite arrangement with doors opening out onto a wonderful view. The lift bears much of the work to get up to a central location if you feel you need it, though I found walking up was a great way to discover all the galleries and facilities. The restaurant serves some wonderful dishes. You get the opportunity to experience some taster courses during your meal which is nice. Breakfast well presented with options for cooked eggs etc. Pool and garden area, a very short distance away, works well with secluded areas. Very quiet while we were there in September. We would definitely love to return.

The only negative was having to leave.

This was such a special place to stay for 3 nights. The history of the village is interesting. The renovations done are beautiful. The staff was exceptional. I am vegan snd they went above and beyond to accommodate me. The food was fresh, delicious, and very affordable. The pool was a perfect place to relax after day tripping around the region. And we highly recommend a spa treatment. They offer free concerts on the weekends. And the revolving art galleries really add to the experience. This is a true gen!

The hotel is very special and really lost in the middle of nowhere. It is very clean and the rooms very spacious. The dinner is good. The choice at brealfast could be a little larger; however the quality of the food is excellent

This is a really cute property (or whole town!) with an amazing history. We were on a road trip in Italy and booked this place as it was a good halfway point to our next destination and we were looking for something in the hills, quiet, just to enjoy beautiful scenery and have a great dinner. We got exactly that! We really enjoyed walking around the town and reading about the history of the place. We loved chatting to the staff, whether they were working in the bar, restaurant, or the wine shop - everyone was super friendly. Our room was a whole apartment, and had windows overlooking rolling hills. We really loved this place and are so happy we stopped here!

This is the best stay we had in Italy in the last 2 years. We enjoyed it so much, the staff re fantastic, the hotel situated in a "Borgo" is very special. This is one of the most beautiful natural and historical settings of a medieval borgo you can imagine, coupled with the amenities of a modern hotel, swimming pool, wellness area, a very good restaurant, a nice bar with an incredible terrace, and a couple of small shops with local products. I can't say enough about it, it is highly recommended. The rooms (they are actually apartments) are spacious, they have a small fridge (minibar). Parking is free. There is an elevator to the reception area, and the staff will help with luggage. The rooms are impeccably clean, the beds are superb. Breakfast is very good, coffee is good, and you can have whatever you want, the staff will go out of their way to make it happen. We hiked and cycled in the (steep) hills in the area, and we explored the area where you will find more great restaurants (eg Foresteria about 1 km away in the valley, or La Cantina in Cerreto di Spoleto a short drive, etc etc); they all exhibit great Italian hospitality and excellent cooking. We loved the cats, especially Tris, who is the real "king of the castle". Due to the somewhat remote location of the borgo, guests, owners and staff have friendly chats and it felt like a nice, respectful community which you can participate in if you want. The history of the borgo is very interesting - a full renovation started in 2007 or so after the borgo had been left empty for about 40 years. This renovation has been done with a lot of taste and respect for the historic significance of the borgo, it feels authentic and has an amazing energy. Check it out...!

the location, rooms, staff.

The disappointing factor, and not a minor one, was the restaurant. Not authentic to the territory and landscape. Too creative, without meaning. They need a better offer, another rustic option in addition to the Casa Rosa. Considering the isolating nature of the castle it is necessary to have a more engaging use of the many rooms at disposal.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, and we enjoyed our moments at the terrace bar and restaurant in the good hands of Manfred and his colleagues. Prices are very reasonable and portions rather large. Beautiful views on the Umbrian countryside. Large, comfortable and cool rooms with good beds.

Only thing we missed a bit was a place with sun beds to relax and enjoy the views. You find sun beds at the pool, but small private “cocoons” fenced by hedges have been created, blocking every view, and giving me personally a more claustrophobic feel. But now I’m being perfectionist…
