I stayed at Maison Mouton on a Monday night and I happened to be the only one there that night. In the morning I met the manager Donelle, who was wonderful and very friendly. She prepared a delicious southern breakfast for me and also gave me a fascinating tour of the building, including a lot of historical details. Pics of the breakfast and from the tour are attached. Donelle really made my trip there memorable and unique. Highly recommend Maison Mouton and would definitely stay there again!

While it was great getting a personal tour of the property, unfortunately there wasn't much going on in Lafayette on Mondays in terms of live music or entertainment. I was just passing through so didn't have time to stay longer. On my next trip I plan on coming for a weekend instead.

Maison Mouton is an old plantation house, beautifully laid out. My room was in a separate building (B): up a flight of stairs to a long and open room with two double beds (one of them a four-poster) and bathroom beyond. Personally I'd have liked a stronger light for reading, but a minor adjustment to the furniture solved the problem. The location is in an upscale suburb with tree-lined roads and a feeling of safety and security. Downtown (and don't miss the magnificent Byzantine-style Cathedral - funded by M Mouton - if you're that way inclined) is a couple of miles away. Worth noting that breakfast was at (not from) 8.30 am: it was excellent and, of course, freshly cooked. Guests sit at a long table, so if that suits you, you will love it; if you prefer more flexibility and privacy it won't. On the second morning the very experienced manageress gave a detailed and interesting account both of the property's heritage and of the locality. Interesting to learn that local rice paddies often double as crawfish ponds!

An unforgettable beautiful garden and rooms with a retro style. The staff will respond to all your needs in a professional and friendly manner. Before the other guests arrived, I requested to visit some of the other rooms upstairs in the main building. The hostess generously gave me a tour and enabled me to get a comprehensive understanding of the entire maison. The musicians who came to perform Cajun music also gave a high-level performance. I felt that during my few days in Lafayette, the accommodation here provided me with the best experience.

Although there are window screens, there are still mosquitoes in the room from time to time. I would like to have some insect repellent products such as incense or Mosquito-killing lamps. The wiring of the lighting fixtures is a bit outdated. Sometimes the chandeliers don't light up, but they return to normal after a few hours.

It appeared to be a very busy weekend, but all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Magnolia room was very spacious and had pretty much anything you could ask for. For someone with back issues, the bed was amazingly comfortable. The room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast far exceeding any expectations I would have had. The food and service were exceptional. I will absolutely be back again, and will bring my little dog with me next time. I highly recommend them if you are in the Lafayette area. Easy on and off the interstate is an added bonus!

I loved everything about this property, beautiful historic house, we stayed in one of the cottages on site and it was so comfortable. Breakfast was authentic Louisiana food made by the wonderful Manager Donelle, all guest ate at the same time, which was personal and interesting to chat to other guest. Donelle also told us the history of the house and a bit about Lafayette. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and the aircon saves us in the heat. Our stay here was super lovely!

The staff was incredibly nice, helped us through the late check-in, and gave us a very interesting talk about the place and its history during breakfast. They helped us book the swamp tour and gave us recommendations for things to do in the area. The entire lot is gorgeous and really gives that historic feeling.

Very quaint. Cool “original” decor. Lovely staff.

Be warned there is a train line close to the property. The night we stayed there were three long trains that alerted for approximately 10 min each very late in the evening/ early morning. Breakfast is at 8:30 so we missed it as had to leave early. Would have been nice to have had two caffeinated coffee pods in the room. Only one of us could get caffeinated.

Everything! I have done a really last minute reservation due to an issue with the airbnb I was supposed to stay. The owner of Maison Mouton listened to me and upgraded my room just for me to feel safe enough. The breakfast was amazing, also the history lesson we had in the morning. The property is stunning and renovated! The owner is a true sweet heart and I would recommend this place to everyone !

It’s was so lovely to be able to stay in this very historic property .maison mouton is old and charming and we were entertained by a trio of Cajun musicians on the afternoon we arrived. Donelle and the staff were caring and attentive . We were served a delicious authentic Cajun breakfast . They were great with restaurant and things to do recommendations also.

The breakfast was a great way to kick off the day. The fanily-style means you will get to meer some interesting people. I am a bit of a coffe snob, so I appreciated being able to grab a very good coffee before breakfast was served. The host, Sybil, provided some Cajun music entertainment, something I enjoyed quite a bit. Pointers on how to enjoy the area were provided.

This was my first visit to Lafayette and this was a good home base. No complaints!
