Friend and myself were on a motorcycle trip so only needed an overnight stay. Pleasantly surprised. I had a nicely decorated spacious room with an en- suite which had a nice shower . We dined in the restaurant/ sports bar in the evening and had a enjoyable meal which was reasonably priced with a delicious desert. The two waitresses serving in the evening couldn't have been nicer, helpful and smiling. At breakfast the staff again were really pleasant. The hotel was right in the middle of town and there was music on in the park. All in all a great stay. We loved it.
Due to its location it did get a bit noisy which didn't bother us after a long motorcycle ride and the plumbing was it bit creaky due to the age of the building. Not a problem for me but it was a bit loud. A bit of noise should be expected because it has a few bars.

Friendly welcome from manager. Room had what I needed for my stay. Comfortable bed, which I slept well in. Tea/coffee making facilities. Decent breakfast in the morning, very nice lady serving. Ideal location just off national cycle route 825. Bicycle storage in the garage was useful to have.
Unfortunately the ensuite shower room smelt of stale cigarette smoke - as a non smoker it wasn't ideal. Kept the door closed to the shower room and bedroom window open to try to limit the smell in the bedroom. The garage door was impossible for me to open, as well as the young person working in the morning. We had to ask the car mechanics to help move the garage door to access my bicycle. Aside from these two things I would go there again, as it was comfortable and the people working there were friendly and property is in a good location. .

Really nice period building, very friendly staff, great location for our trip, small bar area had a good atmosphere. Stairs not an issue as we’re young and able bodied but that’s something I’d imagine travellers check before. I’d seen a few say rooms were cold, but managed to turn the radiator on no issue and get the oil radiator out the wardrobe. Was sweating in the night then!
Some loose fixings and fittings, rooms are very compact, no complimentary toiletries so ensure you bring your own. Parking wasn’t an issue for me due to luck, but there is only about 5 spaces to park.

A fantastic location in town! It is a slightly outdated pub hotel which we found charming. Rooms above a resturant pub meant most nights you could have dinner or drinks if interested. Not too loud in rooms (was a concern when booking) and generally very family friendly. Staff very kind and ended up getting to know us. Will recommend and stay again. Breakfast was substantial including hot plate plus cereal juices and coffee.
A few little quirkes but we didnt mind: old carpet on flooring, some old or musty smells, no fridge in room. Doesnt serve food on a few of the days and we got caught hungry in a small town.

Room was pretty small, not a problem, but TV was a bit too high up. Great view of the town streets from window. Not a place for posh people, it was a bit tatty, but that does not bother me one bit, as the price was a bargain. Lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Luckily they had the football on in the bar there which was very happy about as there didnt look anywhere else nearby that resembled a pub! A few locals and a few hotel stayers, along with the barman, and the chef made for a quality funny evening for a Tuesday. Free pool table was a massive bonus. Cheap cider too. Bed was small but really comfy. Breakfast for 7 pounds was also an absolute bargain and the really nice lady cooking and serving.
Baked beans! That was the only bad thing all stay. Were like bullets. I am fussy on beans though admitedly.

I am a budget traveller so this place was ideally priced. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, hot and really fresh, loads of cold juices and tea/coffee. Perfect to start the day. The service was friendly and fast. Excellent it was! I would of liked there to be rooms that haven't had dogs stayed in previously, but I have a certain budget to stick to, and I cannot expect to not have evidence of a dog in my room in a dog friendly hotel can I? Everything and everyone was just lovely and I had a great stay here. I would recommend ear plugs/headphones if you are a light sleeper purely because different people staying there are up to different activities round the area, and had varying bedtimes.
Honestly I didn't care as it didn't wake me up as a solo occupant, but the loo made a noise like a ship hooting everytime I flushed it.

Location. It’s a pub. Quiet. Local on street parking. Cost £58 for a double room with breakfast. Town is really nice. Local area is stunning. Staff were really friendly, as were some of the locals.
As long as you remember it is a cheap overnight stay, you won’t be disappointed. If you turn up expecting 5 star luxury you are in for a shock! Bed was a bit lumpy, shower was a bit mouldy, corridor was a bit smelly, but far more positives than negatives. I will stay here again.

The price of our booking was incredibly good, so we booked it as we had almost left it too late for accommodation for the Wonderwool Show at Builth Wells. I will admit that were weren’t expecting much for £33 a night each for bed and breakfast. But we were very pleasantly surprised. Cleanliness…..couldn’t fault. Decor……not tired or dingy but fresh and sparkly. Beds……perfectly adequate! Breakfast…..the cooked breakfast pleased my friend, and the cereal pleased me. Unlimited coffee and toast as well. The area was quiet, and although we were there on the Friday and Saturday night, in a room above a junction in the road, we were not disturbed by traffic noise at all. I don’t have any qualms about recommending this simple hotel to those who want a bargain!!!!! It was very good value for money!
Some pegs for our clothes etc in the shower room. A bed head on my single bed. But neither of these things really impacted on our stay here. The staff more than made up for it!
