Good value. Near to train station. Set amongst a large treed property down a lane, directly across from train station. Huge windows. Spacious bathroom. Nice fabric choices and wallpaper. Radiators one can control. Windows that open. Noisy chatty jackdaws for local character. Ancient roses climbing up the wall.

It’s an Inn with a pub, so as expected pub patrons leaving in groups, talk too loud outside the door beneath open windows - so close windows and wear ear plugs if you go to bed early. I’m not complaining because pub noise is to be expected and the positives outweighed this for me.

Dropped in to this inn a few years ago, just for a drink but thought that we would come back at a later date for a stay for a few days. Very pleasantly surprised. A great range of food and drink with reasonable prices. The young lady who ran the bar must come in for special mention as she ran the bar single-handedly all night serving drink, taking orders for food, serving food and clearing tables - a real asset. Rooms were comfortable and quiet and the beds soon ensured we were off in the land of Nod in no time. A brisk walk would get you into the town centre and railway station in less than five minutes and there's a Tesco around the corner. Ample on site parking.

Our room could have done with a small table and it's a bit of trek to get to the rooms but those are minor gripes in an otherwise very pleasant stay.

The location was perfect. We had a few peaceful days sitting in the beer garden listening to the birds whilst sitting amongst fruit trees. It's a beautiful garden. Also a little cut through to tesco which was useful. The room was clean and extremely comfy. Work was being done whilst we were there to upgrade the rooms but it didn't cause us any problems. Good value for money and would definitely visit again.

Nothing to dislike

A lovely, lively place. All the staff and the other customers were really friendly. I stayed with my little boy who loved the play area and outside space and found plenty of other children to make friends with. The whole place is also dog friendly which made travelling with our Labrador so much easier. If you're looking for a proper pub with real pub food and a great atmosphere, with clean, simple and well-appointed rooms, then this is the place for you!

We had a lovely meal in this dog friendly Inn, it has a lot of character and there were lots of different areas to sit with our small dog, the meals were really nice and tasty, the service was very good and we took the opportunity to have a couple of games of pool after dinner. The family room with a double and a single and shower room on suite was small but comfortable and adequate for our needs for a one night stay after a dog show at The Royal showground in Builth Wells with one dog. There was an area to walk the dog and he was allowed in all areas on a lead. The beds were comfortable and I aways bring a bed cover in case the dog jumps on the bed and he wears a Pee pad all the time he is in the Hotel being a male he often cocks his leg and this stops any accidents. He was very good. and enjoyed his stay. The breakfast was really good full English with Toast , Tea, Coffee, Cereals and fruit juice available, the service was very good. The Inn is only 14 miles from the showground We enjoyed our stay.

The only problem I had is that I am slightly disabled and there are stairs to all of the rooms, it was OK for me with one small dog on this occasion. However, I normally have more dogs and would need to bring their trolley for an overnight stay, so would usually need a ground floor room with disabled access. Having said that we had a lovely stay this time.

We had an excellent steak served in the bar. All very pleasant but not very comfortable, though we were very well looked after. Breakfast was served in another room looking out on the gardens and was more pleasant, particularly with a fun waitress. Our room was fine, large enough overlooking the gardens and comfortable. Bathroom also large and equipped with a good shower. For an overnight stay or slightly longer, this was a good option.

No complaints. We got what we had booked with a pleasant staff looking after us well.

It was old and quaint! The room was warm and comfortable! Got used to the wonky floors because it was an old building! We ate food there for 2 nights great choice of food and reasonably priced! We were there for a bowls competition and had to be at the venue early two days but the food smelt really great!! We are returning 23-25 February looking forward to the food but again we are going to miss breakfast for the same reason! We will have to come again to stay and try your breakfast!!!

Nothing the place was clean and there was a warm welcome with all the bar staff and waitresses! Reasonable menu and very tasty food

The location was ideal for us travelling down from Chester to Swansea and Tenby. The food was simple but great portions, nicely cooked. Great beer. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order with fresh ground coffee available in caffetieres. The room was comfortable and clean but see below. The good very much overwhelms the challenges.

The room was large in surface area but the ceilings were low for me (6'4"/192cm) with a very low beam to catch your head. The door into the room was also *very* low.

Everthing.

Breakfast was an extra.

Was told they had given the rooms a makeover and was so pleasantly surprised how lovely my room was , had everything I needed in the room and free WiFi was a bonus, The bar staff were so friendly and helpful especially when I'd lost my phone charger and they found me spare one.

The only thing I could say which I'm sure maybe something they cannot fix is the very squeaky floorboards, the building is very old and full of character, so I wouldn't let it stop you from staying.
