Great food and quiet bedroom

The General Manager was very unwelcoming and actually pretty rude when we checked in. Everyone else was charming.

Lovely location within easy reach of local towns. Accommodation was superb, our room was large with 4 poster bed with views across the fields towards the hills. Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Being able to drive/Park directly outside the front door was a bonus for loading and unloading. The pleasant grounds and gardens were nice to walk, around play some garden game's or just sit with a drink. Meals were nicely cooked and presented A very enjoyable stay and we hope to return in the future.

Slightly disappointed with check-in, having requested an early check-in and had an email agreement from the hotel, it seemed they weren't expecting us when we arrived... not the end of the world but disappointing after a long drive.

I recently stayed at Llaegoed Hall and it was absolutely wonderful. The location, close to the River Wye, couldn’t be more perfect, with stunning gardens that are full of charm and fun little things to do. We loved trying out the maze, playing croquet on the lawn, and even having a game of snooker. Inside, the lounge rooms are beautifully comfortable and make you feel instantly at home. It’s the kind of place where you can both relax and be entertained, and I honestly didn’t want to leave. A truly memorable stay in a beautiful setting!

Very little not to like.

We booked this hotel after looking for somewhere to stay that wasn't too close to the town centre when visiting Hay on Wye. We were greeted at the desk by Kayleigh who was a lovely girl, very efficient at her job! The room was a great size and beautifully decorated - we just needed to be a little careful of the bathroom step during the night. We didn't stay for dinner here but breakfast was really good apart from the bacon and sausages being somewhat dry and hard (as if they'd been left a little too long). The fruit compotes and yoghurts were very tasty and tea and coffee were plentiful and offered regularly. Geddes (maitre'dhotel?) was a really nice person to chat with and was kind enough to spend time chatting to us. It was nice to stay in a hotel where there wasn't a lot of noise from either guests or staff. The grounds were really lovely to walk through and the outdoor staff were excellent to chat with, really friendly! I'd love to stay her again, it's a beautiful hotel ☺

Some of the staff at breakfast were a little hard to understand and to make conversation with. Not a complaint, just an observation ☺

The dinner was superb - perfectly cooked, delicious and yet light, not over - heavy. Service was good - e.g. any requests we had were cheerfully met. The rooms are all beautiful and unique. We liked a room we had before, and this was accommodated. The art collection is just delightful - always like to look round the halls to find gems. The staff were able to find the large "art album" guide with detailed descriptions for us, upon request. Loved the kitchen garden ( which supplied our vegetables), and the hens providing the eggs!

Hope the sofa and chairs get put back under the far window in the piano room - the view is wonderful! ( it was explained it was temporary for some floor renovation work, so we understand..)

Beautiful historical property in beautiful location. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms were unbelievably comfortable and clean. Nice touches with fresh coffee and crystal glasses. Beautiful gardens to explore.

It would have been nice to have had a more dedicated seating area outside to enjoy the outside space. Seating was limited and didn't make the most of the outside space. Not sure if there are rooms available on the ground floor but if not maybe consider a stair lift up the back stairs to enable disabled guest to access this beautiful hotel.

We had a superior room which was very disappointing. When we turned back the quilt there was no bottom sheet on the mattress and we had to call for someone to provide us with one. There were also very minor annoyances , the tissue box was empty and the hand wash was virtually empty. The tea tray was had two ordinary tea bags and two very small biscuits . In a superior room we had expected some hand baked biscuits and a few more tea sachets. We were not going to complain as things do get missed but no bottom sheet was very poor housekeeping. When we checked out the receptionist was very apologetic as was the person who came to fit the sheet. However we did not think the room came up to the standard one would expect of LLangoed Hall .

The hotel was beautiful . Quiet and peaceful . Lovely room with huge bay window looking towards the garden and hills . We enjoyed looking around the kitchen garden , maze and hotel gardens . The staff there were helpful and informative .

Unfortunately , I think they had a few staffing problems when we stayed for 3 nights . The staff did not seem to have had proper training on waiting on tables . Long waits and inaccurate meals . It was quite funny at times 🙄We would probably stay again if this was sorted .

The property is amazing. Beautiful manor house and gardens, spacious rooms.

The dinner service was somewhat comical. There were three young staff, all of which were just out of school and had received next to zero training. There was no supervisor and so the staff just fumbled their way through the service. We were OK, but many other guests were getting visibly upset. The staff tried their best, but the fault lies at the feet of management who were completely absent and had provided them with no guidance. We felt sorry for them.

The venue is superb, and has a fine history. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. We liked the outside spaces, to explore and enjoy - the market garden was neglected, probably staff shortages - it is a wasted asset.

We stayed for 2 nights B and B and had dinner in the hotel restaurant on both nights. The experience could be lifted above 4 star if restaurant and reception staff were given some training - they were all very willing and helpful, but did not appear to know how their roles should be delivered.
