We booked this hotel after looking for somewhere to stay that wasn't too close to the town centre when visiting Hay on Wye. We were greeted at the desk by Kayleigh who was a lovely girl, very efficient at her job! The room was a great size and beautifully decorated - we just needed to be a little careful of the bathroom step during the night. We didn't stay for dinner here but breakfast was really good apart from the bacon and sausages being somewhat dry and hard (as if they'd been left a little too long). The fruit compotes and yoghurts were very tasty and tea and coffee were plentiful and offered regularly. Geddes (maitre'dhotel?) was a really nice person to chat with and was kind enough to spend time chatting to us. It was nice to stay in a hotel where there wasn't a lot of noise from either guests or staff. The grounds were really lovely to walk through and the outdoor staff were excellent to chat with, really friendly! I'd love to stay her again, it's a beautiful hotel ☺
Some of the staff at breakfast were a little hard to understand and to make conversation with. Not a complaint, just an observation ☺

The dinner was superb - perfectly cooked, delicious and yet light, not over - heavy. Service was good - e.g. any requests we had were cheerfully met. The rooms are all beautiful and unique. We liked a room we had before, and this was accommodated. The art collection is just delightful - always like to look round the halls to find gems. The staff were able to find the large "art album" guide with detailed descriptions for us, upon request. Loved the kitchen garden ( which supplied our vegetables), and the hens providing the eggs!
Hope the sofa and chairs get put back under the far window in the piano room - the view is wonderful! ( it was explained it was temporary for some floor renovation work, so we understand..)

We had a superior room which was very disappointing. When we turned back the quilt there was no bottom sheet on the mattress and we had to call for someone to provide us with one. There were also very minor annoyances , the tissue box was empty and the hand wash was virtually empty. The tea tray was had two ordinary tea bags and two very small biscuits . In a superior room we had expected some hand baked biscuits and a few more tea sachets. We were not going to complain as things do get missed but no bottom sheet was very poor housekeeping. When we checked out the receptionist was very apologetic as was the person who came to fit the sheet. However we did not think the room came up to the standard one would expect of LLangoed Hall .

The Hall is lovely and set in beautiful grounds. A superb renovation job that was very comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was very good. Room was very comfortable
It was relatively expensive so it was disappointing that the breakfast wasn't freshly cooked even though the pre-cooked buffet was tolerably good. The relaxed atmosphere didn't quite hide the fact that the staff, particularly on Reception, were very stretched even though they did very well not to show it. Cobwebs in the Dining Room and overgrown flower beds in the formal gardens also evidence of pressured staff

Absolutely beautiful place, lovely grounds & location. Attentive staff. Was upgraded to a better room - 4 poster bed, settee & armchair. Bathroom had a free standing bath with a separate shower. Details like the tea & coffee tray - ground coffee & press coffee maker, a little bottle of milk & decent size mugs, ceramic electric kettle, complimentary glass bottles of water. Food was excellent - evening meal & breakfast. Although not a cheap place to stay, as a treat the price is worth it!

Beautiful building with some gorgeous furniture, paintings and ornaments. Rooms were very spacious and the views were magnificent. Extensive grounds.
A bit tired in places and a lack of attention to detail. Eg. Curtain lining rotted in a few places; dirty valence on the bed; caps indicating hot and cold water were missing on the bathroom taps; some carpets around the hotel in need of cleaning or replacing; work needed in the borders and pots in the gardens. Weeds growing out of pots. Food was good but service was slow due to inadequate staffing. There were communication problems with one receptionist which was very frustrating and time consuming - both on the phone and at the hotel.

The location was beautiful, the rooms and decoration were tasteful and very historic: beautiful mullioned windows in my bedroom and fresh milk in the rooms was a welcome nice touch. Very attractive dining room with good table linen etc. Comfortable lounges.
The fruit listed was not in our rooms and would have preferred biscuits anyway. Felt dinner was over priced : no pre drink nibbles , amuse bouche or after dinner coffee/ mints so £50 was a bit steep. The food was tasty but a lot for basically 3 courses with no extras!

The hotel is set in the most beautiful, peaceful valley bordering the Brecon Beacons. It it a fabulous country house with a wonderful collection of art. It is comfortable and luxurious but relaxed and welcoming. The staff were lovely and were doing their utmost to make your stay perfect. The rooms were tastefully decorated and beds were extremely comfortable . It was spotlessly clean .
It was understaffed and therefore , it took a long time to find someone on reception and to place orders for food and drinks. ( This is evidently a problem with management, as the staff were absolutely fantastic and trying their best to make sure everything ran with precision, there were just not enough people for it to function effectively)

Beautiful place and surroundings. Staff were exceptional and very attentive. Fabulous breakfast and a beautiful room. Checking in and check out was so smooth, unfortunately didn't catch the receptionists name on check in, but Abbie checked us out and was so professional, but friendly. Highly recommended
There was nothing not to like, except I wish we could have stayed longer

The place is just one of a kind. Absolutely amazing and beautiful decoration, with a very cool bar, has everything inside of the house, very quite and peaceful place and just amazing. We took like 100 pictures inside of how beautiful it is.
We thought breakfast was going to be amazing and it was ok, and the dinner was a bit overpriced for the quality.
