A+ for the location on the shore of Great Slave Lake in the heart of Old Town, Yellowknife. I definitely want to return, and I would stay here first. If it were not available, I would look for somewhere else in Old Town, which is more charming than the city center. In addition to having a great view of the lake, the Aurora Bayside Inn is within easy walking distance to so many great places, for instance, the Bush Pilots Monument, from which you get a 360 degree view of the city and lake; the Trading Post, a trendy cafe with delicious cinnamon rolls and their own ice cream; Bullock's Bistro, the iconic fish restaurant; and the Northwest Territories Brewing Company, a super happening brewery with excellent food and beer -- try the Bug Repellent IPA. We stayed in the three bedroom suite, which was comfortable, clean and toasty warm, in addition to having a great view of the lake and balcony from which we saw awesome Northern Lights.

I was surprised that the tap water isn't as cold as it is in Massachusetts in the winter.

I like the privacy, amazing location with its own entrance to the lake and this time when the lake is frozen. We went for a walk on the frozen lake every day was amazing, strongly recommended, and plus the cabin has his own bathroom. And I have the pleasure to meet with the honor Jhon, who is a nice guy and very friendly, took time to explain to us what activities, restaurants, and places we can visit. And don't forget the most important thing, we were able to see the norther ligths twice, you been in love with the place.

Good location by the Great Slave Lake in old town, Yellowknife. We stayed in The Cabin for 3 nights. There is a microwave, coffee maker, kettle, plates, bowls, cutleries, etc. Room is clean and tidy. Beds were comfy. Able to see the Aurora Borealis from outside the cabin. There is a floating deck and we enjoyed seeing the float planes just opposite the property. There is a restaurant on the property. John, the owner was responsive to our enquiries via email. We met John and he is courteous, friendly and nice. We had a good chat with him. Thank you John for providing us a cozy and enjoyable stay.

John was incredibly helpful and kind. They property was in a beautiful spot right on the lake, we were able to see the northern lights from the veranda which was amazing! It was a decent sized accommodation, only a short walk to local general store and bistro.

The main bathroom was quite small, shower was hard to move in and the toilet seemed to move when you sat on and off. The kitchen didn’t have an oven or proper stove top but we were able to make do. The place could use some more seating or bigger lounges as two of us had to sit on the floor. Smart tv was great but would be good if it was on a stand instead of sitting on the ground.

Great location. We had a view of the frozen lake and were able to see the aurora once from The Executive Suite. The fully equipped kitchenette came in handy so we could cook and no needed to venue out every time.

It is a great place. The 3 bedroom suites come with a portable electric burner, microwave and electric kettle. We cooked several meals with them. It will be nice to have a countertop oven but there is nothing we don't like about the place

The location was perfect- right on the water and walking distance to restaurants and shops. The attached restaurant was one of the few that were predictably open and tasty. The room was clean and comfortable- microwave, refrigerator, dishes, coffee maker were all provided in the room. Also, really nice black out curtains for sleeping in after late nights watching the aurora. This was a great base for exploring the town. Also- we could see the aurora a few times right from the dock and balcony.

The location of this property outweighs anything negative I could say, which really isn’t much anyway. Perfectly located in the Old Town, view over the water that is just stunning and the huge windows in our room allowed us to enjoy that view whilst being deliciously warm inside. It’s lovely and dark outside too so I wouldn’t be surprised if you got to see the Aurora Borealis from there too. Bed was comfy, had most things you could need - microwave, toaster, coffee machine, kettle. All toiletries. Hair dryer. Table and chairs and a comfy lounge chair too. This is all smooshed into a smallish space, but it didn’t feel cramped. The shower was only ok, but it was hot and it worked so that’s great. We met the owner who was lovely and super helpful. The staff, who work out of an office not on site, were attentive and for the most part very helpful. Value for money! No way would I stay anywhere else, having walked around the small town and seen all the faceless hotels - seriously, this is where you should stay.

It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked, it wasn’t unhealthy dirty or a deal breaker, but the standard could have been a better in some areas. Most of it was clean to a great standard.

Quiet area in the heart of old town, private yard going down to the water, dark enough at night to see the stars and northern lights. Clean and comfortable beds, good coffee, kitchenette items provided so you could have cereal/eat your left overs. They brought a luggage rack over after we arrived and it definitely helped with a full 3 people in the room.

Only thing I would add is a couple hooks on the walls around the room for jackets, and maybe a draft blocker cushion for the bottom of the door at night as it did get some moisture between the doors and froze the doorhandles but we were warned it could happen.

We were able to walk around the old town and out onto the frozen lakes quite easily. We were able to see the northern lights sitting on the couch in the living room as the windows were so big. We spend most of our time in the kitchen and living room area because it was so comfortable.

I would have liked better lighting in the bedrooms. However, opening the blinds will give added natural light.

We stayed at the Aurora Bayside Inn July 2024. We were pleasantly surprised with the location. Included was a very nice floating dock on Great Slave Lake with a beautiful view. Tindi Air is right across the river inlet and we watched the float planes landing and taking off. It was really nice there. We stayed in the cabin which is basic but clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay there on our next visit to Yellowknife.

Everything was fine.
