A usual Hampton Inn stay, this time in the Piney Woods universiy town of Nagodoches, TX, brimming with historical interest for Texans! Since our room wasn't ready, the front desk employee upgraded our room due to Hilton Honors points, with no deduction or extra cost. Very nice king suite! Love Hampton Inns, beds so comfortable and reliable breakfast.

Like many Hilton hotels, except in smaller towns, usually with no pretensions to tourism, pricing is set for business travelers who have expense accounts, creeping beyond the means of middle-class retirees

The hotel was clean. The continental breakfast offered a good variety. The food was tasty.

When I made reservations, I made them for a two bedroom suite. However when I called to verify that fact with the facility, I was informed that it was only a one bedroom with two beds. Our intent was to have my Mother-In-Law stay with us in the second bedroom. As a result, we had to make an additional reservation for a single room. Therefore incurring more cost. The staff were helpful, just not over friendly.

The room was very clean and it was a nice size for my mother, who requires accessibility. The beds were soft and comfortable. A nice mini fridge, TV, plenty of places to charge phones, etc. Good coffee downstairs in the morning. Sanitizer was available readily.

We arrived around 345pm and were told room may not be ready, but it was, thankfully. The coffee upstairs could have been better quality and easier to use. We got a call at 10pm saying there was a noise complaint and running down the halls, which is now a little laughable, because we are older guests, and it was obviously someone else making the noise, but it was a little uncomfortable to get the call. The next day I spoke to the receptionist and she was kind and apologetic. Mistakes get made and that is OK. Entry was a little jumbled as we checked in one place and entered another. It was just a bit much.

The bed was super comfy and the restroom was fully stocked. I loved the black out curtain too. The front desk personal was super nice and I liked how there was a good variety of food and drinks to purchase.

The towels were a little rough, the light and plug did not work on my side of the bed, and there was a sticky spot on the carpet on my side of the bed.

Location was good, it lived up to the Hampton Standards kind of.

On Sunday we left the room at 7:00AM to go have breakfast and upon our return Housekeeping entered our room and threw away some of our belongings that was packed nicely in a bag and a few things we left in the fridge. Checkout is at 12 Noon…but they saw fit to check us out at 7AM. We had fruit and other stuff that we were planning to take with us and a few drinks we purchased the night before…all thrown away by housekeeping. This made us very angry…we were very disappointed about this development.

Breakfast was amazing!! Loooved every bit of it! My favorite was the seasoned potatoes and sausages. Yummy!! Bed was so comfortable, room was clean and cozy! I love the side door, it was so easy to get to my car and back inside without having to go around the front.

The noise. People beside us were up and going at midnight while we were trying to sleep with my 10month old. Slamming the microwave- talking so loud it felt like they were in our room. I don’t think they knew how loud they were, My husband and I almost got up to ask them to lower their volume. (Not sure how that would of gone) But We heard their entire conversations. Made it hard to sleep in my cozy, comfy bed. But we managed.

Location

The check in. Reservation had been made on Booking.com. Upon check-in I was informed my reservation had been canceled. I inquired why and was informed the credit card for reservation was invalid. I informed the manager that if there was a problem they should have called me. Apparently an email was sent while I was traveling to the hotel. Bottom line is I ended up making a new reservation which resulted in a rate $40.00 higher than the original reservation.

We have not received a refund for the $40 which was charged to our credit card in case we needed something from the convenience store next to the front desk. We did not purchase anything but refund was not reflected on our receipt when we checked out.

Just okay. Some of the hot items were not replenished. It may have been to close to closing time of the breakfast area.

The availability of soft drinks and bottled water. There was limited snack selections, although there was a convenience store next to the property.
