We were very happy with our stay! The apartment and the complex are well suited for a family with small kids. With toddlers, it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, and the beach by the harbour offers all the infrastructure a family with small kids might need. Everything in the village (bakery, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants) is in walking distance from Portela Apartments. The apartment is furnished with all the necessities, and the windows all have mosquito netting (important feature!). The kitchen supplies are basic, but the local supermarket has all the basics (olive oil, tea, coffee, etc) also in small quantities, which is great. Stavros was very welcoming and supportive and we were allowed to use the washing machine on the premises. The daily cleaning service was a treat, and the entire complex is very well cared for.

The sofa bed in the living room is not as comfortable as a real bed, but we slept well enough. Nothing to do with Portela, but the drive to Kastri has a lot of switchbags - if you have kids that tend to get car sick, it's best to be prepared!

I had a wonderful time in this property. The apartment is beautiful, spacios, well equipped, with a lot of natural light, clean and the view is amazing. I came late in the dark and was meet by the manager who, having found out that I am travelling solo, has invited me to join his friends for drinks to make my stay more cozy in the new area. Thank you for this and your advice to visit the places around. I also received a free upgrade and could not stop taking photos from my balcony :) I did not get to check the swimming pool as I have fallen in love with tamarins beach nearby and was spending all my days there (it is empty in October). One day I also received a call from hotel manager saying they have figs in the local store (SUPER MARKET ΒΑΣΙΛΙΚΗ ΠΕΤΡΑΚΗ) and if they should keep some for me, this was such a beautiful gesture, and in the store they just gave it to me for free. Made my day :) Taverns have great food, the area is full ot tranquility and quite charm. I loved my stay here. The complex area has a lot of trees, bushes and blooming flowers, you feel like in your own small oasis just next to the sea.

The apartment is large and well equipped. The kitchen has all necessary cutlery, utensils and cookware including some consumables like coffee filters, salt and pepper. There is a stove and an oven. Each room have a separate AC unit. The property has a pool and a pool bar with drinks and snacks. The balcony is larger than what you can usually find in these types of accommodation. It has a coffee table and a dining table. The view from the balcony is amazing. The host provided support for our requests. The location is quiet, there are good dinning options (not fancy locations but with good food) in Kastri plus two small groceries shop. We used the sunbeds from the Kastri beach. It is a good option.

The apartment is advertised as being able to accommodate more than two persons. The living room sleeping sofa is very hard as a bed and it is not very comfortable. One of the external AC units was very noisy and could have been heard from inside with all windows/doors closed. Not ok during the night. If you want to go to the beach, walking is possible but not comfortable. The road has a slope, there are no sidewalks and you need to squeeze yourself between traffic and parked cars. We used a car for reaching the beach.

This year we decided to visit Kastri and Portela Apartments for the second time. This time for as long 2 weeks. The year before we were only there for 7 days. It was definitely worth it. The property is ideal for people looking for peace, sun and an active holiday. We were captivated precisely by the peace and nature. Great beaches, swimming pool and jogging areas. The facility itself is very modern. Stavros has taken care of the comfort of its guests and the highest hygiene of the rooms, surroundings and pool. Also great is the pool bar with a good breakfast, lunch menu, soft and alko drinks, The people working at the facility: Stavros (manager), the bar staff, the cleaning ladies, the gardeners - all are very friendly and helpful. I will be back :) at Portela next year.

The apartment was very nice, clean and comfortable. The pool area is beautiful and the kiosk at the pool has a great selection of food and drink. We enjoyed our converstations with Stavros, Zirnitzka, Yannis and Antonia who helped us get to know the area and a bit about the flora and fauna. Protela Apartments is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the sunshine at the pool or sea. The local Greek food is fantastic.

Crete is very moutainous and the south side of the island is quite remote. It takes much longer to drive anywhere because all of the roads are small and very windy. It was much more difficult/longer to tour around the island than we expected. It was quite an adventure, but one should be aware of this.

It is amazing apartments, really spacious, calm (not hearing neighbours at all, despite hotel was full) and perfectly equipped inside and outside, with big balcony. We had sea and pool view apartments, so the sights were wonderful even staying at hotel! Pool is very clean, and we always got place by it when we needed. Also an advantage is small bar next to it, with some drinks/snacks and tables, also possibilty to get breakfast for small price here. Owner was really helpful and gave all information and advices what we needed for being in Kastri. We really are eager to be back to Kastri again!

It really was like we imagined from the pictures : great view, big apartment. The village down the hotel is really nice : lots of great restaurants, the beaches were really cool too. And a big special thanks to Stavros who helped us as we had a problem with our car, he really saved the day.

The room is very large and the whole complex is nice and clean. In the apartment, we liked the big shower with very strong water pressure and the huge balcony with enough shade the most. Communication with Stavros before our arrival worked flawless, at the hotel Giannis at the poolbar will welcome you dearly! He provided us with a lot of tips about the best places and beaches in the area. Also it was by far the most beautiful and well maintained as well as cleaned pool of our trip.

We made the mistake of thinking that the pool was for hotel guests only. Because the open poolbar got a little busy sometimes, it partly felt to crowded and the 12 sunbeds just are not enough when 2 large familys come to visit. The modern feel of the hotel does not quite follow through to the indoors of the apartment. The interior was slightly dated, especially the bed could be more comfortable (bigger and less springy). It would be great if there was a direct walkway down to the promenade. If you want to go to Kastri/Keratokampos by foot you'll have to walk up the hill to the parking and go down from there.

The apartments are very nice. Room and leaving room equipped with AC. Amazing views. Staff was very friendly, with bar service in the pool most of the day. The pool is incredible, worth every penny

It might be a bit far from main towns in Crete, but is worth for the relax and calm. It is very close to the Kastri village with amazing food and views

Great sized apartment with everything you need for a comfortable stay. View amazing. Pool fantastic for those who prefer less sand! Beach a short walk away. Access is steep so need good level of mobility. We stayed for 4 weeks and had a medical emergency whilst there. Stavros, his staff and others in the community went way above and beyond expectation to help us out.
