This was my fourth time staying at Villa Mare Monte, and once again, everything exceeded my expectations! Nestled in a serene location, the hotel offers a unique combination of breathtaking sea and mountain views that create a truly calming atmosphere. The facilities are always impeccably clean, tastefully designed, and well maintained, reflecting the high standards of the establishment. What truly sets Villa Mare Monte apart, however, is the warmth and professionalism of the staff. Every team member is genuinely welcoming, attentive, and ready to assist with anything you may need, making you feel right at home from the very first moment. Whether enjoying a peaceful morning by the pool, taking in the view from the balcony, or simply relaxing in the beautifully kept gardens, every part of the experience contributes to a sense of true hospitality and comfort. Villa Mare Monte continues to be my go-to destination for a relaxing, high-quality getaway, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil escape with exceptional service.

I only stayed one night as it was a transit stop before moving on to Sitia. The lady on reception stayed late as she knew I would arrive after it was closed. Apartment 12 was lovely. The terrace had a view of the sea. The bedroom was more boutique than standard in Greece. I arrived by taxi that the property can organise from the airport. I had breakfast before I left which was a buffet. The complex is situated in a quiet spot on the hillside with a pool. I would stay here again.

The location was great, quiet but still close enough to the center and beach. The mountain behind the hotel can easily be hiked up with an amazing view. Everything was clean and the staff amazing, friendly and always helpful! Great breakfast, clean pool. If I come back then it will be this place!!!

I had an absolutely fantastic time at this hotel – I'd give it a perfect 10 stars! The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the pool was just as pristine. The rooms were big, which was wonderful for families like mine. The kids' beds were ultra-comfy – far better than typical sofa beds. It was such a pleasant surprise that each child had their own cozy bed. The entire staff, including the owner, were incredibly warm and helpful, always there with a smile. Amanda and the owner in particular, was a true gem. The hotel's location is a winner – peaceful yet conveniently close to a variety of restaurants in the central area. Close to Amazing crystal clear water beach Potamos beach - with blue laggons What's more, it's just a quick 25-minute drive from the airport. And that pool? The view of the mountains and trees is simply stunning. It's an oasis of relaxation. In a nutshell, this hotel is an absolute dream for families. Impeccably clean rooms, super comfy beds for the kids, great location, a gorgeous pool with an incredible view and the cherry on top super friendly and attentive team – I Highly recommend it!

I have been several times to Malia, but this is definitely the best place to stay there. Situated within wonderful gardens at the foot of the hills above Malia with a breathtaking view at the coastline. Extremely neatly and soignée resort, the rooms are a dream. Very familial athmosphere with an amazing friendly team. The heart of this place is the pool and the highlight is the breakfast next to the pool from the well-sorted buffet. Choose this place and you will be excited.

Beautiful welcoming and friendly staff. Fabulous pool area nestled in greenery . Easy to get to different locations in reliable taxis. The best comfortable beds and great food available at very reasonable prices.

Nothing apart from an unreasonable guest who insisted on sitting on the closest sun bed to the pool but complained about being splashed

Fantastic staff, beautifully clean, Nothing was too much trouble. Owners enjoyed what they do and take pride in providing excellent customer service. Excellent value for money. Good sense of humour and service with a smile. Electra (not sure of spelling sorry) provided great bar service and knowledge on how to get around Crete. More than happy to return to this location either with friends or as a sole traveller. Quiet picturesque location but within walking distance of main town of Malia albeit up hill. Loved the view loved the people loved the pool. Bar food good.

Nothing we didn't like

The balcony in a room with a sea view was facing north, so it was always cool there to relax. The staff made us feel very welcome. All the facilities were clean and regularly cleaned, a great place to relax.

Not a point against the venue, but walking back from Malia old town at night was slighly uncomfortable since the road was poorly lit.

Villa Monte Mare is a lovely place surrounded by a beautiful garden. I really enjoyed swimming in the pool and looking at the rocks and moutains above the hotel. There is also a nice view on the sea from balconies. I appreciate that it is quiet place in contrast to the noisy center of Malia. All the staff, especially Elektra and a British lady at the bar, are very nice and helpful. Their breakfasts and dinners are fresh and tasty, they also have very good wines.

very comfy bed, blackout curtains, rooms were spacious with good view. The restaurant had good buffet/events. Parking right in front, very quiet street well above sea level, and beautiful mountainside. I stayed here more than once during my holiday.
