The hotel easily gets an A for Awesome! Once the pool/patio door opens one thing is made absolutely clear to the guest: a lot of love and care has been paid to this facility! Everything is in a beautiful order, nothing is left on luck. A very caring host, an amazing two-room apartment equipped with all a family or couple may need for spending a relaxing stay. Everything is clean, well taken care for, everything works ans everything is comfortable and cosy. The hotel is very close to the village centre which is teeming with local life in an easy going atmosphere. Tavernas, bars, local food shops, supermarkets...all you will ever need. And the village is surrounded by nature! Vineyards, pine forests, mountain hike paths. And the city of Heraklion is just 20 mins away. An ideal place to stay, overall. Cannot wait to visit again! Super welcoming and helpful hosts who wanted to ensure their guests had the best experience. Small but perfectly equipped studio size apartment for two, with everything needed for overnight or short self catering stay, all modern conveniences and supersize very comfy bed on the upper floor. Size and decor in country cottage style. Apartments situated in courtyard around pool. Quiet and peaceful location. Superb breakfast provided on patio for additional charge. Lovely location in small steep hillside historical town with plenty of tavernas shops and small supermarkets close to main square. Situated a short drive from Heraklion and Knossos and in pretty countryside. We only booked a night but really wished we could have stayed for longer. Strongly recommended.

Directions to property need improvement on booking - our satnav kept routing us through the historical town which has extremely narrow steep streets up to villa impassable in places (but very charming once you are on foot!) The host was very helpful and responded quickly through phone call and WhatsApp to direct us. Best approached by going through the Archanes town on the main road in direction away from Heraklion then coming back in from above (as villa situated towards top of the hill) where roads are wider and there is parking area. Once we realised this it was fine. We are both pretty tall and traditional wooden sofa was short in seat for us.

Vasilis is a most charming host and has renovated the old farmhouse to create beautiful, rustic apartments. The olive wood flooring is stunning. He serves a great optional breakfast. There were spare blankets - we were there in late March and the apartment could be a little chilly in the evening but there was heating. We didn’t cook, it was the start of our holiday and the village of Archanes is known for its tavernas. It was a very easy drive to Iraklion to visit some of the museums. This was a very good place to stay.

We had the pleasure of staying at Villa Archanes for one night, and it was a delightful experience. The villa is beautifully designed in traditional Cretan style, and we truly appreciated every detail in our room. It was cozy and inviting, making us feel right at home. The breakfast was a highlight of our stay—delicious homemade orange juice, eggs, and traditional Cretan products that gave us a true taste of the local cuisine. Although we didn't use the small pool, it looked like a perfect spot to relax. Archanes itself is a wonderful village to explore, offering an authentic experience of Cretan life. We enjoyed mingling with the locals, savoring the food, and immersing ourselves in the culture. If you're looking to experience the real Crete, Villa Archanes is an excellent choice!

The owner came to greet us with a smile after midnight despite our original ETA to the property of 4pm. He shared a plate of grapes and tsipouro. All of the units in this quaint hotel open to the center courtyard and pool. The units are large by Greek standards for the traditional experience (not the 5* catering to those who prefer large resort style properties). Kitchen is sufficient to cook a meal, which could come in handy if the kids want to cool off in the pool at the end of a hot day while dad or mom prep a meal. Decor is warm and within keeping your f the Cretan feel. There is sufficient semi-private seating, and a cafe for breakfast and beverages during the daytime hours. The walk to the town square is 5 minutes where. This mountain village is an underdeveloped gem within 20 minutes of Heraklion. Traditional Greece awaits here!

We loved everything about this property!

I cannot recommend enough this lovely property. It is ideal for a quiet stay away from the crowds and is only 7km from Knossos. The apartments are built around a courtyard , making the complex secluded. The apartments have been beautifully renovated and decorated. The owner and staff are gems, and Archanes is a beautiful small town.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike about it.

The facility is immaculate. Great location - only 9 minute walk to main square. The unit we had was a 1 bedroom and kitchen. Extremely comfortable. The pool and breakfast area is nicely situated with the rooms surrounding them. The staff and owner were very welcoming. The owner gave us numerous suggestions for the next leg of our trip that were very helpful. We would absolutely stay here again 😊

Nothing. It was great

This was the best of Cretan hospitality. We were greeted warmly and offered a welcome drink of raki and some soft fruits. Our accommodation was spotlessly clean,comfortable and relaxing. Vasilis and Christa were the most attentive hosts and we wanted for nothing. Breakfast was plentiful,fresh and served with care and attention. I had an injury from hiking the Samaria Gorge and they anxious that I would be OK asking each morning if there was anything I needed them to do for me.

We would have liked to have stayed longer to explore what this beautiful area has to offer in terms of cuisine and walks.

The villa was huge! The pool was great. Sweet-smelling jasmine flowers floated into the room. The available breakfast was lovely. And the staff was amazing!

It's in a neighborhood so I heard a lot of dogs barking, but they didn't keep me up at night, so that was good. Also, it's at the top of the hill which makes for a taxing hike to and from town. A great challenge if you're up for it.

Our first night in Crete, coming late in the evening. Vasilis have welcomed us with raki and home-made sweet lemon. Sitting in the courtyard in warm Cretan night was very much appreciated after the flight. Location is perfect for discovering of Knossos and surroundings of Heraclion and mountain villages around. House is nicely renovated, appartment spacious and well equipped and already mentioned courtyard with the pool has lovely and homie charm. And we had the best breakfast from all our Cretan trip.
