The rooms are beautifull everything was breathtaking and the staff and management were awesome Carla and Marsha keep up the awesome work going extra mile for your customers first time here but will definitely come back and the other staff were sooo friendly breakfast was awesome 100%

I did not like the staircase it is really not safe and booking.com didn't inform us of an upstairs room there are alot more rooms available and we weren't happy with the stairway to steep and the steps not comfortable I blame booking.com for this they should've told us regarding the stairs the staff went outta their way and gave us a room nearby the pools room 16 and there was no stairway we were sooo happy with our room they changed for us.

Somerset West, located in the Western Cape of South Africa, is a charming town known for its stunning natural beauty and rich history. Nestled at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains, it offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. The town is famous for its wine estates, such as the historic Vergelegen Estate, which dates back to the 18th century and is renowned for its Cape Dutch architecture and world-class wines. Visitors can also enjoy outdoor activities like hiking in the Helderberg Nature Reserve or exploring the nearby beaches of Gordon's Bay and Strand. Somerset West is a perfect blend of modern amenities and old-world charm, making it a delightful destination for travelers.

The feeling of being out of town and in the country. The staff were all exceptional and were available to assist with any request immediately. For instance, on the Sunday, I was away from early morning to about 11am leaving my wife alone, the staff were very helpful in bringing her breakfast and serving it at our unit. one evening I required to heat a meal up, they not only offered to do so but even to bring a micro-wave oven to us. The breakfast was very nice and a good variety was available.

Amazing location, large estate with perfectly manicured lawns, trees, which creates a relaxed atmosphere, rooms are spacious and beds were extremely comfortable, for the price I enjoyed complimentary soaps and lotions which was surprising value for money for what I paid. I had a double room in which both had TVs large bathroom, really hot water, everything is fantastic. The full English breakfast was great, including juice, coffee, eggs, bacon etc. The staff were extremely friendly and competent and know how to treat guests.

Only issue with my room, was I struggled to get into the wifi and it was slightly slow, but I’m not sure that’s the issue with all the rooms. I also there are a couple of neighbourhoods close by that my GPS took me through that I wouldn’t really consider safe, but this is not really the fault of Ongegund, the estate itself is very well secured and out of the way, with overnight security guard and electronic gates but it is just something I would look out for.

We loved everything about this beautiful little place. From the breathtaking location to the friendly staff and the pristine accommodation..... The breakfast on both mornings were delicious too!

The only disappointment was the staff parties being held at the pool area on both days of our stay. The music was quite loud and did disrupt the tranquility of the venue. We were Happy to leave early the Sunday morning even though we were told we could stay till 12 due to the previous day's party running late.... I don't think it's a good idea to have guests in the accomodation whilst hiring out the pool area to private parties....

We had our wedding here and it was absolutely wonderful. The venue is beautiful and spacious and has so much to offer. We had a magical ceremony by the dam. The staff was on top of everything and made it an unforgettable day. All the guests were also very happy with their rooms and the facilities.

The breakfast could have had more options and refills. Coffee was very weak.

Everything is neat clean and tidy. Staff are very cooperative and accommodating. Beds are comfortable and clean. Breakfast was exactly what a breakfast should be.

WiFi in room was very weak so I could not watch Netflix or YouTube. There was however E-Tv to watch. Bathroom needs a little step on the side of the bath to help elderly get into the bath. as it is, it's a bit high for an elderly person to get into the bath.

The breakfast was delicious, especially the baked tomatoes, and everything was warm and flavourful! The bathroom in our room had a lovely bath, supplied with warm water, and the room had a nice feel to it. The view over the winelands was magnificent and the place was well kept.

There was only one chocolate and milk (for tea) between the two of us sharing the room - two would have been excellent!

Premises were exceptionally clean and provided a homely feel. Pool was sparkling every day. Clean and fresh towels daily. Exceptional breakfast daily. Situated close to the Somerset West amenities

Travelling through the Village was a bit scary at first due toour own pre-concieved ideas, but the locals were friendly and courteous. When we travelled by means of the Elgin Market Train through the area we noted the kiddies waving, people greeting etc.
