Love the communal social design of the place. There are several places where people can gather and enjoy the facilities, including the main restaurant area and the 'beach' area on the small lake. The restaurant area is loaded with all kinds of seating place, both formal and informal, and a beautiful pool with enough loungers. It is really set out nicely for social vibes. The beach area has kayaks, floater tubes and a bar...really well though out. Staff are super friendly, and the food and alcohol options are good. Wood fires hot tubs at the tiny home we stayed in was AMAZING. Bonus is the wood supply for this at no additional cost.

We weren't given a number we can call or whatsapp for any issues. As we were staying on the far end, this would have been really helpful. For example, we were given fire lighters (nice), but no matches. We then had to drive up to the top to get this sorted, which is inconvenient. We had some maintenance issues in our unit, but nothing major. Again, could have been sorted pretty easily if we had a whatsapp number or similar.

I have often driven past the turnoff and wondered what it was like to stay here. Now I know (thanks to my wife :) ), we will definitely make this a return destination. We stayed one of the Tiny houses, and it was absolutely brilliant. Well designed, well appointed and comfortable. The addition of the wood-burning hot tub is an absolute bonus. The restaurant, while not the cheapest is still really good value for money as the food was top notch, and would, in my opinion, be easily placed in 4 or 5 star restaurants. The included breakfast would easily cater for most people. The staff are friendly and helpful, and at no point did I feel that they weren't willing to go the "extra mile" to make your staff enjoyable

Sadly, there was a lack of milk alternatives and gluten free options for those who are lactose or gluten intolerant. Other than that, I have no complaints about Old Mac Daddy.

We loved how engaged all the staff and management were, in particular Denver. All the activities for the kids and the fact that they did extras like free ice lollies, popcorn, roasting marshmallows, pizza making etc. These did not go unnoticed. We were at Daddy's Hideaway and they warn you on the website that you need a 4x4 or SUV to get there and they are not joking - thanks for the heads up:-). There is one turn in particular to keep an eye out for.

The mozzies on night 1. The unusally humid weather brought them out in droves and we suffered. We went in better prepared on night 2.

It had a plunge pool for the children, though the pump wasn't on while we were there n it looked like they'd just cleaned it after a while. First time "glamping", never camped, but little insects, water flies, hour old mosquitoes etc. Really tried to keep us from sleeping haha

Please note that some rooms are 4x4 accessible only, I only found out after booking, since Booking.com doesn't make it obvious, we got stuck on a section of road for 15mins cos our car had good enough clearance but low torque

The place was tranquil and allows you to reconnect with nature. I love the idea of the social box at the restaurant which really allows you to focus and be present. There is so much to do in and around the property. The staff are amazing and friendly. Really a peaceful and fun experience.

It would be great if the airstreams had shower facilities instead of a tub as the shower connection to the tub doesn’t work well and very low pressure.

Not our first stay at Old Mac Daddy - My wife and I have previously "run away" from our home in Grabouw to have a romantic break away at Daddy's Hide Away, a mid week beak in Birdie, the Airstream and for a birthday break away in December at Daddys Den. We Loved all three and this year we will be back again for some relaxation and chill time As always, the staff feels like family, our accommodation was clean and we had everything that we needed. Breakfast (included in the booking) was simply lovely and the view from Daddy's Den in the day and evening is spectacular! Even on a scorching Overberg day, our tented campsite felt cool For us, OMD is home away from home we love you guys!

Our only not so nice experience was the activities on offer - we bought free passes for us and the kids. Most of the activities were unmanned (archery) or not available (zorbing). We didn't really feel that we got what we paid for, next time I would rather just pay for something that I have booked in advance, than go for an all access pass.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the spa, I think there should just be a couple of screening questions beforehand for clients- as some of those stretches can worsen an injury (for example shoulder injury). So they should just screen client with a couple of questions beforehand to make sure they are aware of any relevant conditions or injuries

The staff are very friendly and accomodative. ALL the staff are always smiling and willing to assist and this was on Christmas day. The trailers were clean and I loved the coffee machine. The kids enjoyed the activities e.g. archery, kayaking, table tennis, etc. and everything was in walking distance. We loved the nature and scenery and the hot tub.Very safe and the kids could go to the restaurant on their own. We stayed in Metalmorphosis and is one of the furthest trailers and I won't recommend this to people with any knee or ankle injuries or for the elderly. Thank you to the receptionist that allowed us to checkin early and was really such a gem to all the kitchen staff, the guy who assisted with the hot tub to the porter who helped us with our luggage. The staff made our stay one of many more to come.

The beds are hard and the main pool is cold so we couldn't swim due to the weather being cloudy, windy and cold. The hot tub was lukewarm and the smoke was blowing everywhere but we enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

The facilities are great for a family. The barn & dining is top notch. The accommodation was lovely. Staff are super friendly & helpful at all times It's absolutely calming & peaceful, with no tvs but wifi if needed.

Being the heart of winter it was very cold, & the airstreamer accommodation doesn't have a fireplace with heated aircon in streamer only. The front section where the additional beds are gets freezing with no extra thick blankets.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it was 4 days of bliss and relaxation! The children were free to roam and make friends in a very open environment with so many things to keep them busy. The views from the balconies were beautiful and made you feel like you were one with nature. The 'beach' was a hit, from fishing to kayaking, to lazing in the sun with a cocktail. Every item we ordered from the menu at the restaurant was superb. Quad biking in the mountains was another great experience.

The beds in the airstreams were not that comfortable.
