We had an amazing stay at Groote Schuur Guesthouse, it was our Anniversary and a nice break away from the busy city life. We were welcomed on time and the hosts, both Carin and Hein were amazing, going the extra mile to make our stay memorable. They even recommended nearby restaurants and attractions to visit. Our bathroom light went out on the second evening of our stay and when my husband mentioned it to Carin the morning it was fixed immediately. Our room was cleaned everyday and the breakfast is amazing. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

The fact that there is no microwave oven in the rooms which is a bit awkward. However, you can warm your food in the kitchen, but it is downstairs and a bit shut off from the guests, you don’t feel comfortable using the kitchen as it has a “staff only” sign, but we were allowed to use their microwave. It would just be a “nice to” have.

Very friendly place! We ran out of fuel on the way here and the person at the reception even offered to come help us. Friendly, warm and inviting from start to finish. The room was beautiful and for a fraction of what most of the other locations charge. The food and service is much more than we ever expected.

The road was a bit noisy in the morning, but can't blame anyone for that. It is what it is, other than that. The place is perfect!!!

-Vermont is a quiet suburb of touristy Hermanus and Oude Schuur guesthouse is the best place to stay if a romantic/quiet/peaceful stay is what you seek. Also, its location is close to Salt Pan, and the quiet and green residential area is the best if you are a bird watcher or in general enjoy nature. It's a 10-minute drive away from Hermanus. -The 'Suite with Mountain View' room is a fantastic choice for a luxurious stay with Karen being the most amazing host. She and the staff do their best to make you feel at home. -The exterior was the best part with a grand balcony running along the room overlooking the pool and garden. The interiors in the room are very tastefully designed and maintained well. Extreme comfort is taken care off. -Breakfast is perfect with lots of customizable choices. -Wifi was good and other amenities and facilities were well maintained. It has ample parking space. -Karen's suggestions while exploring Hermanus were indeed very helpful.

This point was not a negative for us entirely but just to mention that the property has a narrow staircase to access the rooms on top. Carrying suitcases to the room might be a tedious job. Staff can be requested to help though.

I absolutely loved my stay at Oude Schuur. The owner Karin is such a lovely person, and the rest of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They gave me many tips upon arrival and even during my stay they were always informing if I was having a good time. I was there by myself but never felt alone! Breakfast is just perfect, Karin and her staff go out of their way to make everybody happy. The area is quiet and safe, and less than 10 min from the centre of Hermanus. Great restaurants nearby, my favorite one was Milk on the Beach ;-) I highly recommend staying here!

Easy to find, safe and quiet residential neighbourhood. Large room with very comfortable bed. Good size bathroom, fridge provided and tea, coffee & kettle supplied. Breakfast was cooked to order to complement the cereals and breads on offer. Outdoor plunge pool was very welcome to have a cooling short swim in. Had a fantastic casual dinner at nearby Riposo Italian restaurant (3 min drive), dining like locals. Similar short drive to sea front with lovely walk which offers opportunity to swim in a naturally protected ocean "pool" and get some food and drink at a nice surf cafe/restaurant. Having visited nearby Hermanus during our short stay, we were happy to be staying out of the main "resort" town, around 10 mins drive in this great value homestay.

A little bit of road noise in our room during day time and evening when doors are open but was not an issue overnight.

Our room was very comfortable and clean. We loved sitting on the balcony outside. The Breakfasts in the morning were great, and the host accommodated our dietary requirements (Vegetarian) and made the breakfasts very vegetarian friendly. Staff and hosts were great and knowledgable about the area and gave great suggestions and recommendations.

Excellent value for money. Our room was large and well equipped; king size bed, TV, DSTV, fridge, shower and had a large balcony. There is also a large entertainment area and pool downstairs. As a B&B the food was very good -There was plenty to eat and included full English or continental. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. There are several excellent restaurants and a small shopping centre nearby, and Onrus beach is no more than 2 km away.

Be aware that all rooms are on the first floor and there is no lift. Hermanus is not immune to 'load-shedding' but the hosts kept us up to date with the schedule and there is emergency lighting throughout the B&B

All round perfection - the place, the people, the great breakfast! (The en suite bathroom). Ease of access with two separate parking areas each with remote activated security gate. Would definitely stay here again

Parking spaces a bit tight - I wouldn't care to try to park a minivan. Or a Landcruiser. Even so, we got in and out all right, with a bit of backing and filling

We had the most wonderful five days in this beautiful guest house. Carin could not have done more to help us; as first time visitors to Hermanus she was a wealth of knowledge, and showed such a genuine daily interest in all that we he done. On our final day we left early to catch our plane, and she so generously packed us the most delicious breakfast for the car. We would recommend this guest house without hesitation.

We had the most stunning room, with a balcony right around the corner unit. Very spacious, lovely view, and a poster bed that was heavenly and the splash pool was a real treat. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Could only stay for one night, would like to visit and stay again. There is nothing not to like. Felt like royalty.
