Although Hotel Gran Rey doesn't represent the height of luxury, you will quickly appreciate its very many plus points. The rooms are very comfortable, and you will discover that everything is in the right place and everything (bathroom, shower, hot water, sockets for example) just works perfectly. The view is to die for, of course, and the staff are excellent. The buffet breakfast offers a wide choice and you can eat on the terrace, enjoying a view of the sea. There is a car park, but then it's easy to walk to each end of Valle Gran Rey.

The most impressive thing about the room was the sound of the ocean at night, this alone made it worth staying here. You can see the ocean and the sunset right out of the window. Breakfast was pretty diverse, even as vegans we managed to pick something for ourselves (but we brought our own plant based milk). The room was very spacious. There's a bus stop right across the entrance.

Furniture and room in general felt dated. There was only bare minimum of toiletries, no soap (but they gave us soap when we requested), no slippers or bathrobe. I feel awkward complaining about this, but the toilet paper in the room was the cheapest nastiest kind. Breakfast ended at 10am which is a bit early for us.

Superb quiet location almost on the beach - fab bar to watch waves crashing & stunning sunset - soaring mountain views at back of hotel - hardly any traffic - stars at night - excellent breakfast on the balcony in the sea breeze - super seafood restaurants a short walk away - free parking outside front door - well worth the treacherous journey over the amazing mountains - perfect spot to spend your birthday

Breakfast was very good with all of the options and more. The staff (Claire, Carmen, Irene, Carlos, Vladamir, Cesar and the rest) for the morning breakfast were all very helpful, efficient and friendly and hard working. Ciara at the front desk was also very helpful with all that we needed.

There was a smoker in the next room and when they were on their balcony the smoke would drift into our room which was off putting as we aren't smokers.

The location is breathtaking, the rooms are spacious and well equipped. Wonderful view of the sea from the balcony (on the sea side, of course). The breakfast buffet offers a lot of choice and leaves nothing to be desired.

The bathroom is spacious, but I find the combination of a bathtub with a small plastic guard rather unfavorable, as the bathroom gets very wet very quickly. A shower would be much better. In addition, the toilet seat was very old and looked very worn. A renovation would be necessary here.

The most noticeable thing about Hotel Gran Rey is the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Whilst it isn't luxurious, it is very clean and comfortable and excellent value, in my opinion. The sight and sound of the sea - especially at sunset - makes a stay really memorable. The central location is perfect for walking between the different parts of Valle Gran Rey. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast and it was useful to have a fridge in the room.

Tea and coffee making in the room would have been good, but I brought a travel kettle and borrowed two cups, so it wasn't a huge issue!

Very nicely appointed modern hotel in an excellent location. Heated rooftop pool at 24C is a highlight when sea temperature is a cool 19C. Good buffet breakfast in the top floor bar/restaurant.

Quality of lunchtime 3rd floor bar catering and also basement buffet poor. Fortunately there are some good restaurants nearby.

The rooftop pool is big enough for a bit of a swim and the views of mountains and sea are spectacular. We had a sea facing room and slept to the sound of waves breaking over the beach. This side faces west with stunning sunsets. A very good breakfast buffet with a terrace overlooking the sea.

The evening meal is ok, served in a restaurant that is part underground. There are many bars and restaurants nearby as an alternative.

Great location. We had a lovely balcony in front of the sea. The reception lady Kiera was exceptionally friendly , efficient and just lovely. Ladies cleaning out room daily were so friendly and efficient.

The breakfast was so very crowded. Survival of the fittest.

Wonderful room, lovely view of the mountains. Good choice on the breakfast buffet. Surprised and pleased that the hotel provided us with breakfast at 4.00 in the morning when we had an early departure. We found out about this by chance, it would be great if this information was given to all visitors.

The car park was being renovated which meant there were not always spaces available. Hopefully this will be sorted soon.
