We arrived late after hiking all the way from San Sebastián along the GR131. This hotel is right along the trail and was such a sight to behold after a long day. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the meal we had with choices that represented the local foods of La Gomera was filling, well priced and excellent. The room was spacious and clean and the showers had excellent water pressure. But it was the staff who really made our stay. They were just so friendly. They helped us check the bus from Vallehermoso and even helped us wrap up our breakfast to go as we wanted to start off early the next morning. Best stop for those on the GR131!

We hiked the GR131 from San Sebastian to Chipude and after a long hike we were met by Sonia who was full of energy and friendliness. The room was clean and comfortable which is all we needed. We spent the evening in the bar/restaurant which had a good vibe and full of other hikers, the beer was cold and food lovely and hearty. We had the roast chicken and beef stew with pecan and apple pie for dessert. Great stay.

This is our 4th time staying in Hotel Sonia. We love the location as well as the friendly family who run the hotel serving home made dinners and a large breakfast which sets you up for a day's hiking. We will definitely return on our next trip to La Gomera and highly recommend this hotel. Thank you to everyone for making our visit so enjoyable.

Our stay at Hotel Sonia was everything that could be expected and more at a rustic family hotel in La Gomera. The team were very efficient and friendly and the hotel made an excellent base for hiking and exploring in the area. Our thanks to Sonia and her brother who were great hosts. We highly recommend the meatball and Gofio mouse desert dishes from the restaurant menu. Both dishes were family recipes and both were excellent tasting and great value.

A family hotel run by an admirable lady, Sonia! She is the soul of the whole place and makes you feel very comfortable. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant where you can eat tasty comfort food. The room was very clean with a nice balcony from where we could enjoy the sunset. Chipude can be a great base for hiking; next time we will stay longer!

One of my favourite hotels in the world! Authentic, amazing views, but the biggest plus is the staff. Just love the atmosphere in the bar throughout the day. Food delicious; breakfast huge (I think they expect to set you up for the day!). Relaxing on the square after a day’s walking is a must. I will be back! 😊

Hotel Sonia is one of a kind and what you get is a great experience. After a long day trekking we were so pleased to arrive and sit in the sunny square with a beer then coffee and delicious cake. The rooms could do with being updated but the shower was great and the food in the restaurant plentiful and very good value.

Smiles wherever you look and a warm welcome. Room was big and super clean, preheated from an electrical oven. Dinner and breakfast was exceptional If you look for a quiet place, thats the place to be. Beautiful small to long hikes just in front of the door. Will be back!

everything! such a luxurious room with very comfy bed with great furnishings. super spacious room with a great shower. great views from the terrazza. attached restaurant had probably the best mojo we had in the islas canarias and the breakfast was WOW. fresh OJ great vegan cortado, so much food with the option to pack the rest for lunch!

We stayed only one night, but at a busy time, and our room was modest, ground floor front. We had a good welcome, and the meals were very good (breakfast excellent), and good value. One of the only places to stay in the highest part of the island, and well located for exploring there, e.g. climbing La Fortaleza and hiking in Garajonay. We had an unexpected bonus, being there on the day and night of the festival of the Candelaria, 2 February (which was noisy, but fun and did not run late).

Unfortunately there was a power cut at 10pm, and it became cold and dark! Presumably this does not happen every night.
