The view from and comfort of the room was very acceptable - The breakfast offer was very extensive - we chose to take our dinners in the alternative restaurant and bar sackville where all the staff made us extremely welcome and in particular I would thank Dasun, who went above and beyond every time.

We found the front desk staff quite unwelcoming and in particular one lady who was not a good ambassador for the hotel - First impressions are fundamental in any industry particularly in hospitality - Had our cancellation time line not exceeded we would have left the hotel and checked in at another hotel - further training required. Fortunately the food and beverage out weighed our first impression and left us with a more positive opinion of the hotel -

We went for half board which was perfect for us as wanted to explore Nuwara Elia during the day and then relax in the evening. The choice at breakfast and dinner was incredible (and maybe a bit overwhelming!) We stuck to local foods which were all delicious, but you can find anything for any taste and dietary requirement at this place. The a la carte restaurant was fine, but not amazing. Swimming pool was exceptional and excellent cocktails served at the rooftop bar. The staff were incredibly accommodating. There was an issue with our balcony hottub working, but it was fixed within 20 minutes.

We had a really pleasant stay at this property. The resort is large and beautiful, offering a wide variety of rooms. All the staff were incredibly helpful, always attentive, and genuinely made our stay comfortable and memorable. Our room was very nice with a lovely view (though unfortunately the fog didn’t allow us to enjoy it). The buffet was simply outstanding—so many options ranging from Japanese to Indian, Sri Lankan, and Italian cuisine. Everything was well prepared and nicely presented, with at least five different live cooking stations. The staff working there truly elevated the experience, making it feel like a real five-star dining moment. Special thanks to Dinali and the entire team, and congratulations also to Chef Shanika for the excellent food. The facilities were equally impressive: a heated infinity pool with a beautiful view, a stylish lounge bar, and well-maintained spaces for indoor activities. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return!

The only small downside was that the bathroom temperature was a bit low, with no way to warm it up.

We received the warmest welcome from the staff at this hotel. Well positioned on the outskirts of Nuwara Eliya, the views (mist and rain permitting) are intoxicating. If it’s clear you could relax and watch the clouds roll in over the mountains. The hotel has a warmth to it, with cosy bars and restaurants. There’s a true “little England” feel. We ate in the main restaurant every night, mainly because the food was exceptional and the staff were extremely welcoming, always making sure you had everything you needed and were friendly and professional. It truly felt like a Scottish Highland retreat. Above all the staff must be praised for their excellent service and kindness. We are hoping to return in the dry season

Hotel was exceptional. Nothing to dislike. Even when it rained it was perfect.

By far the most comfortable beds we slept in during our Sri Lanka trip. There is a warm indoor swimming pool and a very complete gym. Breakfast offer is overwhelming in offer and quality. Staff are going out of their way to facilitate and service guests.

There is not much to wish for, really. Breakfast was not included in our booking and proved quite pricy (around 20US per person) - but as I wrote is also very impressive in offer and quality. The one thing I would recommend to the staff is (no matter how well intended) not to chase clients to fill in the Booking review upon check out. I was almost guided into filling it in under the supervision of the reception desk. I’m almost certain these staff have been instructed by management to pursue this review push procedure. It is not needed and does not match the overall quality experience of this hotel.

We had a really nice stay at Golden Ridge Hotel. The property itself was beautiful with lovely views and a very pleasant outdoor area that we really enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The only small downside was the service speed in the restaurant, as it was sometimes a bit slow. Overall, though, we truly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend the hotel for its atmosphere, views, and great hospitality.

Wow! What an amazing hotel. This is more like Dubai standards than Sri Lankan. We booked a quad room and it was ample for 3 adults. The beds were really comfortable and the room was very clean with plenty of water, welcome cookies and a stocked mini bar. Plenty of amenities in the bathroom if needed. The reception staff were lovely at both check-in and check-out. They gave hot refreshing towels and a welcome drink on arrival and a small bag of biscuits on our departure. It’s these unexpected little touches that made this hotel special. The restaurant was incredible! In the evening my daughter and husband wanted the buffet restaurant and the team were very accommodating in supporting my request for an al a carte meal from Sackville. I have to give a special mention to Hindeka who made us feel very welcome and any request we made he was able to accommodate. Thank you! The gym is small but equipped for what I needed and the indoor pool is nice for a refreshing dip. Unfortunately, due to the weather we were unable to explore the rest of the grounds but we look forward to it upon our return.

It would have been nice to have small towels available to use in the gym.

There’s a lot to like about this old school luxury hotel; the service was the best we experienced around Sri Lanka, my son is coeliac (gluten allergy) and after a bit of confusion the restaurant staff were on hand to make sure he ate well but safely. They made him a special pancake and a dosa for breakfast. The family rooms had ample space for 4 of us with 2 seperate rooms, the beds were comfortable. I had a great massage while the rest of the family enjoyed the warm indoor pool. Over all I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area for a night or 2.

No complaints but would book a room with a better view and a bigger balcony next time.

Up the stairs and into the rather grand looking reception lobby, we were very warmly greeted with warm towels and spiced tea. Rooms were generous in size, and exactly as pictured, with possibly the largest beds of our trip. We enjoyed the indoor heated pool and had a nice dinner in the glass encased pub The Sackville. Breakfast was spectacular - the variety and quality was sheer delight. Those amongst our group who wanted a Western fix were happy, those wanting more local food were very satisfied. Make sure you include it in your booking and get up early enough for it. Golden Ridge felt like a true retreat, with the spa, gym, indoor pool and outdoor areas with the largest hydrangeas and healthy bushes.
