I really enjoyed staying at Utan. I’m sure I’ll remember the nice people working there forever. The cabin is clean and equipped with a well working AC and a small fridge to store whatever you might have. The beds have a mosquito net around them which is definitely needed as they tend to come in whenever you open the door. I really liked the cabin however, you will have tiny visitors that I assume come through the floor boards which have plenty of space for small bugs to get in. We didn’t mind this but I recommend storing opened food in the fridge so an ant doesn’t find it and bring his friends over. And just to be clear there were never lots of ants at once but you will definitely have a couple roommates checking out the floors. Breakfast is served every morning from 8-10am. It is very tasty and there were plenty of meatless options. Din and Shaikat were both very kind. I truly appreciate everyone who works there. Thank you for having us (:

There is quite a steep hill to go up and down so if you are older or injured etc it might be something to consider.

This year, my parents requested to stay at this hotel as their birthday gift. They were immediately drawn to the hornbills and the beautiful natural surroundings. The atmosphere is very close to nature, with fresh and clean air. On the first day, my parents asked if they could check in early to get some rest, and once the hotel was ready, they kindly informed us that early check-in was available. As soon as they entered the room, it felt cool and refreshing—the air conditioning had been turned on in advance by the staff. The environment was clean and comfortable. We are truly grateful to all the staff members there; everyone was incredibly friendly. They also provided complimentary breakfast, and from the restaurant, you could see hornbills up close—an amazing experience! My parents stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, and every single day, they praised the hotel staff for being exceptionally polite and courteous. Whenever they needed help, the staff were always eager and happy to assist. The swimming pool was impressively clean too. Throughout their stay, they felt completely relaxed. A big thank you once again to the hotel team for their outstanding service!

We had a pleasant stay overall. The team was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our visit. It’s easy and affordable to rent a scooter directly from the accommodation, which is a great way to explore the island. The breakfast was delicious and a real highlight each morning. We loved the roti canai. The location borders the forest, which gives the place a peaceful, natural atmosphere – we often saw monkeys and birds around, which was a nice touch.

Our bungalow felt a bit dark, and the balcony was too small to really enjoy. Since it faced directly into the forest, it attracted quite a few mosquitos, which made it less inviting to sit outside.

Loved the spacious wooden chalets in the jungle, and close to two beautiful beaches (we particularly liked Coral Beach and the two restaurants at the back). Very peaceful accommodation, hearing just sounds of nature. Enjoyed walking locally and using pink taxi when needed, as did not want to hire a vehicle. Pool was lovely to dip into to cool off from walking up the steep hill! Great communication immediately from booking,and helpful staff throughout holiday (particularly to Din who came out in the middle of the night to sort out the air con after power cut), and for assistance in sorting transport to Ipoh.

There seemed to be some gaps round doors and was initially concerned that insects might get in chalet. However, we had no insect visitors in chalet at all, which was great, and mosquito net was reassuring.

Most of all I enjoyed the back to nature aspect of the accommodation - simple, natural and I felt I was in the treetops. I cannot emphasise this enough. There is a lot of wildlife in the rainforest next to the property and while I know they are on land not part of the property, it is especially unique to have this experience. Just be aware of the cheeky monkeys who have no idea of boundaries and will come on the balcony without warning to take food. Be warned not to leave any food unattended on the balcony! I noticed there were resident hornbill too and I was concerned that they were being fed as this is probably not a good practice for the wildlife. It was good to see them in healthy numbers in Pangkor. In terms of the room, it was very basically furnished yet had a warm touch of the mosquito netting and very comfortable bedding. The staff were attentive and friendly, and provided me with a different reclining chair when I had asked for cushions for the balcony chairs. I appreciated the flexibility of management to allow me to extend my check out by an hour as I had a late flight. I also was very aware that the property is located on a hill accessible only via a steep hill. The taxi actually dropped me and my luggage at the rear entrance; still very steep to walk up either way. I appreciated that I already knew this before I booked the hotel. This would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues because not only is it the access to the property, there are also a lot of steep irregular steps on the property itself. Consider it a good way to get fit during your stay if you can get here.

I think there could have been more variety with breakfast especially with fruit as I stayed for 5 nights so it was quite repetitive by the end of my stay to have watermelon everyday. There isn't much I did not like about staying at Utan. I wanted a quiet stay, close to nature yet close to the beach and I got exactly that and a little more.

I really enjoyed my stay at this property. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, as it’s surrounded by nature. Mornings were the best — cool and refreshing, perfect to start the day. I had a very good sleep every night thanks to the comfortable bed and the dark, quiet room. The breakfast was absolutely spot on — delicious and satisfying. The location is also very convenient — close to the beach, local eateries, and other attractions. If you’re looking for a calm and relaxing place to stay, this is definitely a great choice.

The room was really big, clean and cozy. The staff was helpful and friendly. We could rent a brand new scooter for 40 MYR per day. The breakfast was delicious with roti, toast, watermelon, egg, samosa and tea/coffee. The location is perfect. It's a little bit outside so it's really quiet but nevertheless only 2 min to the beach and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay there!

There were no pillows for the furniture on the balcony so we never sat there, because it wasn't comfortable.

Great place on walking distance (5 minutes) to Coral Beach. The cabin was spacious and clean, and the shower was warm. The hosts were really helpfull. All in all a great place close to the best beaches of the island. We also really liked that there were lots of Hornbills around. They came really close!

There is a bit of an hill to climb to get to the cabins, which was no problem for us. However if you're not fit to climb a small hill, it could be a challenge.

- the manager is responsive and helpful - the room was very basic, but good enough for a short stay

- the hill to the hotel is really steep, impossible to bring up large luggage. We arranged with hotel manager through WhatsApp for the help with bringing up the luggage - all worked perfectly fine, the manager is very prepared to help guests with this inconvenience - breakfast is the same daily. It is basic, but I would suggest improving the coffee - room can get very hot and humid with the conditioning off

The location was set away from the noise of the main street, up the hill, surrounded by jungle so you get a lovely relaxed stay...we could see monkeys swinging and jumping from tree to tree in the morning. Breakfast was really tasty and Dean and his co-worker were always helpful in providing us assistance on car and bike rental options. The staff were clear that if we needed anything then to please ask them. We had the family room and the beds are very clean and comfortable. Great location, great staff and we will definitely be visiting Utan Teluk Nipah in the future 😀
