As we were transiting to Islay on the ferry, Rob from the hotel called to ask if we wanted to reserve a table for dinner since I had neglected to do that from the booking confirmation email. It was very helpful that Rob was proactive in reaching out to ensure we had a convenient place to eat each night. The location was excellent, particularly since we were able to book Stuart to take us to/from our Port Ellen distillery tasting experiences and he recommended a visit to Portnahaven where we did see some seals in the harbor. Finally, the clean clear water off the hotel beach was perfect for a quick chilly dip one afternoon.

The tiles near the tub in our room were cracked and a tad loose, so a little disappointed with that. Also, water pressure wasn't great, but that seemed to be a common theme across Scotland so we got used to it. Finally, some of our fish dishes were very much over-cooked to the point of the halibut being dry. We were told that was per Scottish / UK food safety rules, and yet in Glasgow we were able to get med-rare beef so that was confusing.

I had such a lovely time at the hotel, which is perfectly located in Port Charlotte with stunning views from my room. Everything was spotlessly clean and maintained to a very high standard. I also had dinner there for two nights, and it was fantastic! Do try the Fish & Chips and the Tiramisu :). The bar had a great selection of whisky, beer, and wines, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The full scottish breakfast was equally delicious. But what really made my stay special was the amazing staff. A special shoutout to Lorna—she has a way of making every guest feel at ease and at home. Her friendly chats and laughter created such a warm atmosphere. I also appreciated how the staff went above and beyond. I was feeling a bit hungry while sitting in the lounge, thinking if I should ask for a table, and someone kindly checked in on me. Before I knew it, they had made space for me at the bar and brought me a bowl of chips! Thanks also to Ajith and Divya in the restaurant, who were incredibly attentive and really made me feel welcomed. I would say overall Port Charlotte has a very a cozy and inviting vibe. I would love to come back and stay here with my family next time!

The staff from the moment we walked through the door were welcoming, helpful and smiling. They showed us to our room, showing us the facilities on route and telling us about the service, times of breakfast etc. There was a back door entrance which we could take the dog out for walks. The restaurant was comfortable, again the staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. The bar was also very comfortable, selection of drinks was great, live music twice a week and again the staff were great. The location and view over the loch was amazing

This is a very quaint, pretty , beautiful experience of staying in an historic hotel. It was beautifully decorated for Xmas and other guests and locals visiting the bar were friendly and fun. Food was great. Tv struggled. Breakfasts were fantastic especially the scrambled eggs and salmon. Loved having Marion play piano accordion on our last night. Thanks to Henry for organising. Was very special.

Tv struggled. Had a problem with hot water and when we advised staff they didn’t really believe us until others complained also. It was quickly fixed then.

Breakfast options are limited but tasty and well executed. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The trail between Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich is a great little walk!

Nothing to complain about with the hotel itself; it's a beautiful location with great views and great people. Make sure you have your food and tourism plans sorted in advance, as reservations and transit options can be limited.

The hotel is situated in a little bay with gorgeous views of the water. We had a lovely room with a water view. The rooms were spotless and nicely appointed.

If you’re going to do the distilleries tours, just be mindful of the distances from Port Charlotte to the other parts of the island. We had a tour guide who arranged everything for us so it wasn’t a problem. Nothing to do with the hotel itself though!

Had a lovely stay, the rooms had super comfortable beds with a sea view also. The bar was a lovely place to retreat to for a drink, they had a really good selection of craft beers and ciders. The food served for dinner and breakfast was great quality too.

Bath tub showers are the worst. Unfortunately there's very little else in Port Charlotte.

Everything. Location, friendliness of the staff (Lorna and the team are great hosts), room (large and comfortable with a very nice view), food, the cute bar where we'd have drinks in the evening, the great selection of Islay whiskies. We had a fabulous time in Islay and the Port Charlotte Hotel definitely played a bit part in it. Would definitely recommend and go back

Only that we couldn't stay longer!

The hotel faces out to the sea and our room had an excellent view. We had breakfast and dinner each day. The dinner menu was especially good with enough choice to have something different on each of the 4 days we were there. The hotel has a comfortable lounge for residents. However we preferred to go into the Bar which has an excellent selection of whiskies and a lot of good craic.

I can't think of anything we didn't like.

The staff were wonderful, really welcoming and attentive. The location is great with amazing views over the coast. There is another hotel over the road with a bar and restaurant, and a lovely seafood place just down the road. The hotel food was great, albeit pricey and a little repetitive after 4 nights. The live music made for an excellent evening.

Bed was a standard double which felt small
