The best parts about this hotel were the location and the staff. Perched right on the river, the terrace was a great place to enjoy a beer and a really good meal. The staff were superb; friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable.

My stay was great overall. If there was a criticism it would be that the rooms are perhaps becoming a little out-dated. It feels as though a lot of focus is on the restaurant and bar. With a little refresh upstairs, the hotel would be amazing. My room was clean although there were a couple of obvious long black hairs in the bath when I went to shower. It’s a first world problem really but would have been nice if they hadn’t been there.

The location was perfect for our needs visiting family who live nearby. Travellers wanting to go into Amsterdam regularly might be a little disappointed that it is not closer but there is a tram close by which connects to the Metro and is easy enough to navigate into town.

Everything was fine. The bathroom while a little dated was clean and spacious. I appreciated that there is a lift having stayed several places in Europe where we had to lug our suitcases up stairs.

Our first stop in a 5 week European holiday, Husband & I with retired Aunt & Uncle. Loved the accessibility and the location. A nice quiet 'village life' which was luxury compared to the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. The lift was great after long walking days and also with our luggage. The stairs weren't too much of a bother. The setting is idyllic. Very tranquil. Not a lot going on in the centre of town, but the quiet was what we needed after days full of sight-seeing and touring.

A beautiful old building, with an attached restaurant with good Dutch food. Very cordial staff, nice elevator to get to the upper floors. Big rom overlooking a beautiful canal. The room had a beautiful new bathroom, and was well cleaned each day. Nice breakfast each morning. Wonderful stay at Het Rechthuis

The room had not been cooled down before we checked in, so we left for dinner while tge airco did its thing. The room faced south and east so the curtains needed to be closed most if the day to keep it from getting too warm again. Other than that a nice room.

• Daily cleaning is excellent, but a more thorough cleaning would not hurt: windows, curtains. • A window was leaking in my room. It rained at night, and the entire windowsill was flooded with water that poured from the ceiling. It's not a big problem for me, but it's not good for the room.

Good restaurant and good food. Nice area to sit apart from the restaurant to relax and have a drink. Very nice staff. Unfortunately the weather was not good to be able to use the terrace at the Amstel, but I know from previous experiences that this is an additional bonus especially when the sun is out. It is easily accessible by both car and on foot.

Rather, some improvements could make it even better. The small fridge is placed right next to the bed and is rather annoying at time due to the "on/off" cooling sequence. There were no instructions on how to use the coffee machine which resulted twice in a cup of too much coffee. It is a rather old building and as such the hallways are noisy when people leave/enter their room and walk through the hallfway. There is usually plenty of space to park but since it is right next to the shopping mall and living area, the available parking space can soon become not enough.

It was a nice hotel,with a good location for getting a tram into downtown.

I was expecting a little larger room with a table and chairs. The view that was advertised was obstructed with rows and rows of solar panels. But it was good to see green energy being used

Absolutely fascinating hotel in the middle of a picturesque setting, right by the canal and the drawbridge! Very spacious rooms, stunning bathroom with bathtub, absolutely clean. Very friendly staff in the hotel and restaurant, delicious unusual cuisine.

the choice at breakfast could be bigger

The property is a riverview property. Beautiful big sized room, clean , quiet. The sorrow ding areas are fabulous and beautiful country side. Would book again

The property is a bit far from Amsterdam. Hence , some planning about the public transport to Amsterdam city would be ideal.

The location is very beautiful with a very big terrace on the shore of the river Amstel. Friendly staff and convenient located close to Schiphol Airport. (We had to return our rental car at 7 am on a Sunday Morning.) Very quiet surroundings!

Parking instructions are not very clear although we were very lucky in hindsight. But the parking is free!
