I loved it because it was old school, in a fast pace world that never slows down, we found this hotel a breath of fresh air. Yes its dated, but that's its charm and I hope it never changes. Its a piece of the past in the present. On reviews others have complained that its dated, needs work etc. But I dont think they are fully taking in where it is situated, the area is stunning. Your talking about Sancerre where one of the worlds best white wines is made. Everything about this trip was cultural, stunning, relaxing, award winning views and gave a huge slice of old style French charm. Down to the decor, staff, discotheque, food, views and location, it ticked every box. Anyone who appreciates simple, basic charm and appreciates a place that will take you back to a time that simply doesn't exist in many places anymore, will love this hotel. We will definitely stay again!

We didnt dislike anything, because it was kitch, old style, dated in a manner that made you smile. It has character!

The restaurant was at least as good as the reviews I'd seen, most of which rated it very highly. It was the reason I decided to stay at L'Hotel de Remparts (or du Rempart/s depending which sign you look at!). The best proper meal I had during my 2 weeks travelling around France, in fact, and at a good price. The location is good with views over the vineyards and a very short walk into the ancient town.

The decor looks overdue for refreshment. The plumbing & electrical systems don't seem 100% reliable (switches that turn lights on/off sometimes but not others, and the water cut off for 1/2 hour, then back on). Hopefully the building work going on next door will soon be finished and will enable the old part of the hotel to be renovated. It's a nice place anyway, and these minor issues wouldn't stop me staying there again.

We strongly recommend to use the Restaurant and the bar, that belong to the Hotel. Really decent food especially the Opener Buffet is nice.

The choice for breakfast was quite small. The rooms are in a very traditional Style.

Safe cycle storage and a restaurant in the hotel which we used both nights. The staff were very accommodating.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are very tired and badly in need of renovation! Down stairs there is bar/discotheque still playing 70s music that they always have but expect noise from revellers until 3am!

Central location, great views, new section with lift and new rooms. Safe bike storage
