The staff were so welcoming & helpful. Our room was immaculate and so beautifully presented. We had a wonderful dinner. I have never seen onion rings like it in my life!!! Breakfast did not disappoint in any way. The chef was lovely and cooked everything as requested to perfection. Everything was outstanding. I would say he served the best bacon I have ever tasted. Beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend to friends & family.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Having had a nightmare with accommodation in the area, I managed to book this bunkhouse last minute. This is not your standard bunkhouse, it was really well kept and really well presented in a room above the Inn. Bedding supplied with tea coffee etc too. The staff were really welcoming and even squeezed me in for a meal in the Inn despite not booking in advance and walking into a very busy restaurant. The food was amazing! On top of that, I had an early start and had to be out before breakfast was served. They very kindly left some breakfast cereals, toast, juice etc out on the bar so I could help myself in the morning. Fantastic service and really welcoming and friendly hosts

The staff were amazing, we have recently dined at a top restaurant in Manchester and the service we had at The Sun Inn was 1000 times better than that. The food was so good, we had to leave before breakfast but I can imagine that it would be just as good. The menus have plenty of choice. The room was warm but once we opened the windows it wasn't long until it cooled down. Facilities in the room were good, the bathroom was modern. We had everything we needed.

Had a fantastic stop at The Sun Inn while on the Coast to Coast cycle. We were a group of 8 with 5 bikes. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very comfy. Good internet connection and plenty of sockets in the bunk room. Facilities were great. The dinner and breakfast were also brilliant. An enormous thank you to Lucy, Sue and Jane.

Soundproofing poor; we were above the bar, and could hear conversations clearly Service rather slow for dinner - but they were very busy (perhaps need more waiting staff?)

The room was clean, with clean and comfortable bedsheets, and it came with toiletries and a towel, which was great since I had forgotten mine, so after a long, sweaty day, it was a nice stay.

The only annoying thing was the bathroom lock, which I struggled to open. Except that the stay was great

Very good atmosphere as obviously a popular place for locals to eat ! All the staff were very friendly and amenable as we had a problem with time of our meal reservation and they went out of their way to accommodate us .

It was in need of an update , decor wise -paint , carpets etc .

This was our second visit to The Sun having stayed there the week before on our way to Scotland. The Sun is a little gem tucked away in the village of Newton Reigny just three miles form Penrith. My wife and I received a warm welcome from the very friendly and helpful staff and were shown to our room, a deluxe which was spotless, spacious, bright and with a very comfortable large bed. The Sun is a well supported local pub with a good range of beers. The wide variety of excellent dishes available in the restaurant are home prepared of a high quality with large portions at a very reasonable price together with an excellent hearty breakfast. Overall we had a wonderful stay at The Sun and would recommend it to people who wish to explore north Cumbria or like us as a stop off to break up a long journey.

Very friendly staff and very friendly local people who were in the the sun inn pub at the time of our stay, excellent breakfast and evening meals, wot was so good about our stay it is wot it says on the tin when booking

If we’d known about country & western evening when booking we wouldn’t have because we wanted a quiet night away to celebrate our anniversary. Music was extremely loud in our room until midnight and noises/clearing up until 1am. We only found out when tried to book table for meal. Special events/evenings need to be advertised beforehand so we can decide.
