Great set up

Noisy, lots of repair work & peoples voices seem to be amplified. Additional, the front desk manager was rude (twice) & cocky ! She mustn’t be happy ?

The room was very nice, queen size bed with plenty of room to move around. We had a canal view which was picturesque to look out at when in the room. Staff at the hotel were very friendly. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, great coffee all day and night. The hotel gives you a real feel of Dutch charm.

The only drawback was that there are two trash cans on the corners of the roads and canals where the hotel is located. The trash cans are large, poorly constructed and the city does a poor job maintaining them. Sea Gulls are continually pulling the cans open and ripping open the bags, throwing garbage everywhere. As beautiful as this hotel is, it is continually surrounded by garbage. As picturesque as our view was, you had to overlook the garbage that was all over the streets, which was a shame. If the city won’t do it, the hotel should have someone on staff to police the trash cans.

The location is amazing. The hotel is in the heart of the town. We didn’t use public transport, we walked everywhere . We had a family room which was perfect when travel with kids. Two large separate connected rooms one with double bed and the other two single beds. Something difficult to find!

The isolation. We could hear everything from the street. And also the wooden floor make a lot of noise when you walk. The breakfast room was very nice but the breakfast could be better. Just too simple choices and not good quality. Coffee was really bad.

Staff were very kind, helpful and attentive. Always had time and happy to answer any questions we had about directions and places to visit. Breakfast was in a spacious dining room with a typical Continental Breakfast. Loved the Reception Area, which had a lot of old memorabilia. Fascinating ! Loved the free coffee and the ability to store our wine in the refrigerator. Room was spacious and comfortable. No complaints !

At my advanced age, I found the steep stairs difficult. I knew this in advance but didn’t realise how steep they would be. At least I would only have to climb them twice a day. A few more electrical sockets and a bigger room safe would be great.

This was one of our favorite hotels in Europe! The room was lovely, the view over the canal was unbeatable. 15-20 minute walk from many attractions, and a short 5-10 minute walk from several major tram stops. Open the windows for a refreshing breeze at night. The lobby is cozy, beverages available 24/7, and the breakfast was a bonus. Highly recommend this property if staying in Amsterdam!

If street noise bothers you, be warned that you may want to keep the windows closed at night. Not a big deal unless it is especially hot outside and you need the breeze. We live in Naples, Italy, so we are used to some street noise so were not bothered, just be aware. I would NOT let this stop you from staying here, however....it is a wonderful property!

The location was fantastic, close to restaurants, museums, walkable to many places of interest. One of the best parts of our stay was the front desk staff. They couldn't have been any nicer. We especially enjoyed chatting with Wendeline who taught us so much about Amsterdam. We enjoyed our interaction with all of them. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.

Obviously, we knew that Amsterdam is an old city and the hotels didn't have the same amenities as the more modern hotels like elevators or air-conditioning. It happened that there was an unusual heat wave, so we were hot in the room, but nothing took away from our stay at this delightful hotel.

Nice central hotel with friendly staff, but a few downsides The hotel is located in the city center, close to many cafes, markets, and shops. One of the best things is that the bus stop for line 397 (to the airport) is nearby, which is very convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a coffee machine on the ground floor where you can get coffee or tea anytime. Breakfast was also quite good.

However, there are a few things that could be improved. The staircase was very steep and uncomfortable, especially when carrying luggage. In the bathroom, the shower drain was slow, so water didn’t go down quickly. Also, the room was not cleaned every day.

Great location close to the Anne Frank House. We could walk to most places without having to use public transport. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is always fresh and plentiful no matter when you go. I would only suggest a larger fruit selection as only oranges were available. Although I would like to have had coffee/tea facilities in the room, the coffee offered in the lounge is very good. The view from our room was amazing

The stairs! But this is minor and can only be expected in these older buildings.

The breakfast was great and having all day access to warm beverages was really nice. The room was beautiful with a picture perfect view of the Prinsengracht canal. It was by far the largest bathroom we had at any hotel in Europe, and the only one that provided conditioner. The location was great within walking distance of the Van Gogh Museum (make your reservations early they sell out), the Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank Haus. There were many restaurants and a small grocery store in the neighborhood as well.

Really the only downside to the property was people walking in the street were quite loud until very late at night (2-3 am). The noise from the street was really not something the hotel can control, but if you are a light sleeper perhaps request a room not facing the canal, you lose those fabulous views though! Yes, the stairs are steep, but we had that issue at every property we stayed at in Europe.

Fantastic location , friendly staff, and excellent breakfast. The neighborhood is super - tons of sites nearby, wonderful choices for restaurants, and very safe.

Room was a bit basic (slightly outdated) for the cost. As in most of Europe the room is small and little things were missing (I.e. only one tiny trash can in room, not enough hooks in bathroom, etc…) Also, be forewarned!! The stairs are really steep (in all fairness they warn you). We walk over five miles per day … and the three flights of stairs were a killer. Absolutely not the hotel’s fault - just want folks to be prepared.
