I had the Asilah, a lovely room with a lovelier view. It's like stepping into a medieval bedroom in middle age movies. The furnishings were classic and beautiful. The Monsaraz castle is a short walk and the church is just in front. The place has a beautiful outdoor rooftop dining area.
This is not a complaint. Just a sharing - I was all alone from check-in till breakfast time the next day (Bf is 9 - 10.30 am). I had let myself in, following clear instructions as to where the keys were - much appreciated. There was no one else staying there and no caretaker/someone at the reception throughout that day & nite. He came the next day to prepare breakfast but later left me to let myself out. He was helpful with getting me a taxi though. I suppose that's how things are over there. I hope the bed in Asilah gets checked/fixed accordingly - I reported the slanted bed stand to the reception. There was also no bottled water in the room or anywhere, even though it is included in the room description.

Breakfast was the same for our five night stay but still good every day. The whole place was intriguing. Rooms comfortable and the en suite was ‘ very Portuguese’! The roof terrace could have done with some comfortable chairs to lounge on as well worth spending time up there, views amazing. Monsaraz is a must.
We were late in arriving and had not read the email from booking.com , which was in Portuguese ! About to have a meltdown, a very kind passer by saw our distress and helped. Otherwise would of been a night in the car.

Loved the decor! We were transported into another world, tastefully curated with details that were captivating. The staff was very nice and the place was centrally located. The breakfast options were varied (including non-dairy milk which was a nice surprise). And finally, the bathroom and shower was were very spacious.
Upon arrival the front door was locked and we didn’t get an answer to our knocks for a few minutes as the staff was busy. But it was not a big deal.

Charming boutique hotel in a great location in Monsaraz! Right in the main square! Casa pinto is quirky and cute! Art and sculpture abound in all the spaces
We are smack dab in the middle of wine country, with wine stores everywhere and when I asked for a wine glass and some ice, we were told “no”! The only cups in the room were two plastic wrapped paper cups! Amenities like soap, etc were almost non existent

The location was right in the center of the historical village of Monsaraz a beautiful gem, completely walled in and on top of a hill with beautiful sights; the room decoration was with African art motif, the breakfast was great!
the stairs leading up to the room were dangerous as some of the steps were missing a portion and this caused a bad fall on the stone floor.

Perched high on the mountain of Monsaraz the views are amazing. The old stone building has been tastefully decorated. Clean comfortable &. very unique. Visit the terrace on the roof for sunset. A delicious breakfast is served downstairs hosted by a lovely local lady. There are a couple of good restaurants close by, try Sahida. it’s excellent. You can drive up to the front door to unload. Lots of parking at the entrance of the village.

This is a gorgeous little hotel in a spectacular setting! Right on the main square of this amazingly beautiful village. The room and building are totally beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast was really good and lots of options.
The only issue was we couldn't get the shower to run hot water, only lukewarm - but we were only there one night and so we didn't try to get it fixed.

Great location. Interesting, quirky property. Roof terrace would be lovely at a warmer time of year. Breakfast including fresh fruit was really good value considering it was just a €2.50 add on. Friendly owner. We stayed in an economy room which just has a skylight window but we knew that in advance. Would like to have had a look a look at the other rooms all representing ex Portuguese colonies.
Some guests might be challenged by the steep, narrow stairs but for us they add to the character.

The rooms are very comfortable, quiet and have fantastic views. The rooftop deck is a lovely place to sit in the evening, but it could use a little clean up.
The young lady at the front desk spent most of her time in the backroom talking on her phone. We always felt like we were interrupting her if we had to ask for anything. It was also unfortunate that the dining area and back patio are locked after breakfast since they are both lovely sitting areas. Maybe just the kitchen could be locked so guests could still use the common areas?

Very old building with a lot of charm. Each room seemed to be decorated differently; mine was an Asian inspired with dragon lamps and an awesome dresser with the painted dragon. Located in a very quaint little village perfect for watching sunset in the evening while listening to the cows’ bells, star gazing at night in complete quietness, and greeting the sun in the morning.
