I recommend Hotel Sombra del Agua with enthusiasm! Excellent location - right in the center of town. Yet the floor plans, massive architecture and good building materials insulate it from the city's noise. It is a heavenly oasis. Impeccable, attentive service, to the most minute details by a staff who is both highly professional and compassionate. Luxurious comfort for affordable prices. The hotel is super clean and very well maintained. The hotel's restaurant's chef is one Mexico's top 100 chefs and his food is both traditional and creative.

I wish more of the hotel staff would speak English -- it is unfortunate that English has become the dominant language of international communication. Likewise, the hot water pressure will gain from improvement.

Sombra del Agua is a beautiful hotel in the very center of San Cristóbal. The staff is super professional and helpful, they helped us book a tour and were always kind and available. Breakfast was exceptionally good, we couldn’t try the restaurant for a full meal but I imagine it was as well. Super experience

Minor nitpick: the place is wonderful without the need for the fake water+bird sounds record played in the court in the middle of the rooms :).

Beautiful hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Our room slightly flooded in sudden extreme rain and they immediately moved us to a bigger room. Very helpful with getting a taxi when we left. The spa is lovely - got a great massage. Breakfast was not included but we had it every day at the restaurant attached to the hotel which was great. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The location is a couple of minutes away from the main square so perfect for everything you’d want to do.

I love this hotel and come once or twice a year on buying trips. The staff is lovely, the rooms and simple, elegant and clean with well-made and designed wood furniture...the two courtyards are so pretty and you can relax in the bigger one surrounded by greenery and dappled sunlight after a long day. Elegant, stylish, clean and in a perfect location. I love it!

Our stay at Sombra del Agua was exceptional, with fantastic service from Axel at the front desk and great hospitality from the staff at the restaurant Tarumba, including Carlos and Andrea. Chef Jorge’s exquisite cuisine made every meal a delight, and a special thanks to Eugenio for his attentiveness in the parking lot. The hotel’s prime location, beautiful rooms, and wonderful staff made our five-night stay unforgettable.

I love this hotel and I return to it every year. The location is perfect - so close to all the markets and the rooms are clean and elegant with beautiful clean-lined wooden furniture. The courtyard is lovely, the restaurant delicious and the staff, friendly. I look forward to coming back next year!

The wifi is usually perrrrfect but this time it was cutting out every five minutes or so during the day.

Very central location. The property is an old colonial house, which is really beautiful and very well maintained. The food in the restaurant is just delicious and the staff extremely professional.

The rooms are very basic. The rooms are very loud from the street, 24 hours, even on the second floor. A bit too expensive for what it is.

Beautiful hacienda - our room was in the basement, with not so much light. But we slept great as it was nicely cool and dark.

The breakfast was very expensive with small portions, we mostly ate somewhere else.

This hotel was fantastic. Historic, but stylish modern touches. Lots of local art. Room was basic but beautiful. Very big comfortable bed. The garden/plaza is a great place to relax. The restaurant is of a very high quality. Our food and drinks were so delicious. Very friendly people working here. Very good value for money. Location perfect. Free parking.

The staff were warm and welcoming. They ensured my stay was super pleasant and were responsive to small accommodations I requested. The building is impeccably kept and the courtyard is one of the loveliest dining spaces I know in San Cristóbal.
