What a find in Hong Kong! We were on a budget trip through east Asia and almost cut Hong Kong out of our itinerary because of how expensive all the accommodation we found was but then we saw Wontonmeen and are so glad we did! It's such an excellent hostel and truly amazing value for money for this city. We really enjoyed our room which had a cool design. Social space was lovely. Great location just a few minutes walk to the MRT and easy to get anywhere. Patricia was an awesome host - super friendly, checked in on us, gave great restaurant recommendations. We ended up arriving a couple of days late because of a typhoon that meant we couldn't fly in and she was super accommodating changing our booking at the last minute. Couldn't ask for more from a hostel and host - if we ever come back to HK, we'll stay here for sure.

Wontonmeen is like no other!! I’ve stayed in hostels all over the world, many enjoyable, but Wontonmeen… I’m pretty sure is my all time favourite. This place is so special! It was my first time in Hong Kong, and I was only here for a few days. But thanks to Wontonmeen I was able to have such an incredibly authentic and immersive experience in this city. Some random things I deeply appreciated: — The LOCATION is perfect! Transport options all around. The neighbourhood is the best for a genuine HK experience, many little restaurants, cafes, gallery spaces, markets, bars, etc, trollies everywhere, I think that’s a good sign, and it’s totally not a touristy area, this is real deal Hong Kong. — The DORM ROOM is cool, super-clean, and relaxing. You know how dorms are usually a bit grubby, or smelly, or of an unbearable temperature, well that’s not the case here. The air is fresh, with spotless floors, super comfy bedding, an anti-slam door(!!), very good sound proofing from the bustle outside, and a gorgeously fascinating bed layout, with optional fabric drapes for more privacy if you need it. Some of my best travel-sleeps ever! — Every dorm bed gets its own movable CHARGING STATION and repositional hanging LAMP! — The BATHROOMS, so perfectly clean! Like I’ve never seen in a hostel before. And the shower pressure (Goooodmorning!!) — The DESIGN (all of it): unique, practical, charming, playful, and very aesthetically appealing. — The COMMON AREAS are so well thought out and crafted. They are places you actually want to be, whether you feel like quietly having some down time or, are In The Mood For Lovely interactions with your fellow hostelians. — The ROOFTOP was such a treat: great views, perfect place to eat a meal, or relax with a drink, or a book, or a friend, or a stranger, or a stranger who is about to become a friend - anything could happen at Wontonmeem ;). (You might even dare enjoy the roof of the roof!!

The dormitory is quite cozy. There are 6-7 beds with adequate space between each bed. The rooms, washrooms and the corridors are cleaned on a daily basis. The hostel has multiple layers of security with 24 hrs of surveillance. A key card is provided for accessing the facility.
For the amount of money they are charging, the facilities provided are decent. The location is excellent and in an old quintessential hongkong neighborhood. If you only need a place to have a restful sleep and for a bath then its a perfect place.

Wontonmeen is maybe best hostel experience I've ever had. A magical place from which doors keep opening into another chamber of wonders of the building - and Hong Kong. It’s an adventurous place. Suddenly one floor down you discover another lounge and kitchen and gaming tables and screens, books and exciting art and then down another flight of stairs a place where live music is played sometimes and movies (can) be shown. The owner, Patricia, spontaneously invites you to go on little hikes in the morning via the WhatsApp group, she takes you to hidden places you would never discover on your own. Patricia is an interior designer and the mixed bedroom is very special, with clever gadgets and details. Each guest can create their own private bunk in the structure, with covers, brackets, lamp, you have cables and charging boxes. You can have earplugs, but in my case there was no need for them, everyone of the others was very respectful. It’s a very social place, but not meant as a party hostel. The elevator takes you up to the roof terrace from where you have a fantastic view of Kowloon. On the road a 7/11 about 200 meters away, a lively area with stores and restaurants. The nearest metro station is about 10 minutes away, buses go up and down the street in front of the hostel.
I think hard, but nothing comes to my mind.

It is a mainly a hostel, definitely geared for younger and adventure-oriented travelers, but I traveled on business and was perfectly comfortable in the private king-size bed room. Room was cute and clean; bed was firm and comfortable. I didn't use most of them, but there are many communal areas in the building. The rooftop patio area and its amazing nightime city views are worth a stay themselves. The staff communicated by LINE, which was new for me, but they were always friendly and responsive. The building is decorated in a kind of bricolage/found art style; it and the surrounding Sham Shui Po area lets you experience an authentic Hong Kong aesthetic and way of life, totally different from the touristy areas. Also, the owner provides a great list of places to eat and drink in the area. Definitely try out at least a few; one of them actually appeared in a Stephen Chow movie. I would definitely recommend this over any business hotel in getting to know Hong Kong as a city.

Only stayed 2 nights, but it was a pretty good experience! The owner communicates by WhatsApp, is very responsive, and makes sure you're comfortable. Provides lots of recommendations in their WhatsApp channel, in terms of food options nearby, laundry services, etc. The hostel is quite quirky and artsy, small in size but cozy. The hostel is located in the first two floors of the building, the main entrance is the first floor. On the 11th floor there is a really nice rooftop where you can relax and get a nice view of that area of the city. The room was small but ok for a short stay, the bed was huge, though, and super comfortable. No minibar, no closet per se, but lots of hangers and a cord to hang stuff there. The hostel is located in a central area of Hong Kong, close to a metro station from where you can get to all the main attractions super fast. It is a "normal" Hong Kong neighboorhood, some hostels and hotels but not too many, so you get lots of truly local businesses nearby, and the vibe is that of a real HK neighboorhood, not some gentrified touristy area.
The room was a bit cold at night but nothing too bad. Besides it was during the winter, and it was the same at another HK hotel I stayed some days earlier, so I think it's just the season.

-The dorm room was very comfortable and quiet despite being on a busy road. The bed had adequate privacy and ample, lockable storage to put my large backpack. Room was regularly cleaned. -There was a whatsapp group with other members of the hostel which made it really easy to connect with other guests -The location is great - walkable to all the Kowloon night markets and ~10 min walk to the nearest metro station which will take you anywhere in the city; Grocery store/convenience store across the street
-I arrived a bit early so my entire check in process was through whatsapp, and I felt like I didn't have all the information regarding amenities, what common spaces we could use etc. That being said, the host was super responsive and helpful if I ever had any questions. -As the other reviews say, it is a bit hard to find even if you are navigating there with Google maps. The host should send you a video explaining how to find it so be smarter than me and watch it before arriving!

Incredible Hostel! Interesting decor, good facilities & even has has a rooftop terrace The owner is super lovely & a walking encyclopedia of local knowledge I became quite unwell during my stay. The owner was very helpful seeing if there was anything that would make things more comfortable. She checked in frequently, offered medicine & was generally uplifting to be around As I was recovering she really motivated me to get out of bed & keep seeing the city; She recommended lots of great activities, even being kind enough to take myself & other guests to some of her favourite restaurants A very welcome & unexpected surprise for a solo traveller who was suddenly without the energy to plan a whole lot I would have stayed longer they weren't booked out. When I mentioned this to the owner she offered me a private room for a great price. It was the perfect end to my trip after several weeks of dorms My experience at Wontonmeen not only made it my first choice for accomodation in HK, but also a big reason I'd like to return in the future Thank you P!!
Nothing!! Wish I could've stayed for longer :(

Maybe the best hostel I ever stayed at. The location is great, the interior design is unbelievebly beautiful and the hostel is very social and clean. The workers and the owner are all exceptionally kind people. Emily took us out for a great pub crawl and Patricia (the owner) brought me out dor dinner. The owner is also a talented chess player so if you like playing like me, dont miss to ask her for a game. Thanks to all people contributing to Wontonmeen hostel. You do an amazing job.
